Verbena Bee.
This Dart Moth (Feltia/Xestia spp, I didn’t look long enough to ID) was very happy feeding on the goldenrod flowers. There are nectaring moths found almost year round if you know how to look. Next time you’re out at dusk, look at a large patch of flowers and see which pollinators are active. In the late fall, goldenrod can just be filled with these moths and many others. #moth #xestia #feltia #dartmoth #noctuidae #insects_macro #ecology #insect #lepidoptera #goldenrod #nectaring #pollinator https://www.instagram.com/p/BveI8VogxKB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=a8mr0nm1na12

Tiger swallowtail on tigerlily.
The Hawai‘i ‘Amakihi: fortunately still a fairly common bird in a state where many native birds have declined or gone extinct. With a tubular tongue for sipping nectar and tree sap, and a decurved bill for gleaning tree bark and foliage for spiders and insects, this species' adaptability has helped it remain more common than most other Hawaiian honeycreepers.
