Tiny weevil that landed inside my beer cup yesterday. I luckily picked it up before it could fall into the drink. Hung out on my hand n groomed itself for a while, before flyin away. Weevils are cool. I love their lil snouts.

Common Green Darner (Anax junius), taken June 23, 2026, in Georgia, US

A massive green dragonfly blending into the brambles as it suns its wings! Darners are absolutely magnificent insects, but they're rarely in a position to be photographed. Because of their large size and strength, they prefer to fly high and fast in vast open spaces, rarely stopping to rest on perches well out of reach. I believe this individual was still young and not finished drying from its final shed, and thus it preferred to sit in the sun instead of flying. It was incredible to see how truly huge this species is. I love darners, and I hope I have the opportunity to photograph more this year!

hoherius meinertzhageni used to have a long snooty snout like your average weevil, but after a particularly silly culinary accident involving a large pan his snout has been completely flattened! now his kids don't recognise him and his friends don't let him sniff or snort with them!

Mole crickets are expert diggers that use their oversized front legs like tiny shovels to tunnel through soil.

Their burrows are not random either. Males build specially shaped tunnels that act like natural amplifiers, making their mating calls much louder so females can hear them from farther away.

Safe to say, they are pretty big in the underground scene.
