Seijuurou woke from his nightmare with a start that jolted him into an upright position, breathing hard. Tears welled up in the corners of his eyes, and his entire body began to shake.
Beside him, Shintarou stirred from his sleep and groggily rubbed his eyes. “Seijuurou...?”
“G...Go back to sleep, Shintarou...” Seijuurou mumbled, struggling to keep his voice steady.
Shintarou was having none of that, apparently, as he sat up and pulled Seijuurou close to him. “What happened? Did you have a nightmare again?”
Seijuurou bit his lip as the tears he’d been fighting spilled over and created streams down his cheeks. He nodded slowly, not trusting his words as sobs wracked his body.
Shintarou frowned and pulled the redhead closer, beginning to rub his back reassuringly. “Shh, you’re safe now... I’m right here. I won’t let anything hurt you...”
Seijuurou sniffled and nodded, opting to press himself closer to Shintarou and try to stop the tears. Eventually, he began to drift off back to sleep, content and safe now that he was there in his boyfriend’s arms.

Makoto never used to pay much attention to creeps who would try to get him to go out with them. Until one of them threatened his life.
He ran all the way home, to where he knew Tatsuya was waiting for him, and straight into his boyfriend’s arms.
“Whoa,” The taller boy blinked in surprise, “Makoto, what’s wrong?”
Makoto shook his head and just squeezed Tatsuya tighter. “There was a creep following me around today...”
“Oh.” Tatsuya frowned and rubbed Makoto’s back. “Was this person threatening you or anything?”
“...Yeah...”
Tatsuya’s frown deepened and he sighed, holding Makoto tighter. “Well... You’re safe now, so there’s no need to worry about them. If they come here, they’re going to deal with me.”
Makoto almost argued, but he knew Tatsuya was right. And really, he didn’t mind that at all.

Eikichi was curious. He’d heard from Reo and Kotarou that their captain was ticklish, but he’d never seen it himself. He wanted to test it.
“Hey, Akashi!” He called energetically as he approached the short redhead. “Come here for a second! I wanna try something.”
Seijuurou quirked an eyebrow, but decided to listen anyway and turned around to walked toward his upperclassman. “What do you need?”
Eikichi grinned, pleasantly surprised that his little plan worked. He sat himself down on the bench and motioned for Seijuurou to sit beside him. “I just wanna talk to you for a second.”
“Okay...” Seijuurou nodded and sat down beside the bigger boy. “So, what did you want to talk abou--” His sentence was cut off by a high pitched squeak, followed by quiet giggling due to Eikichi’s fingers tracing up and down his back. “S-Stop that!”
Eikichi laughed and shook his head, beginning to seriously tickle his captain. This was cute; way too cute. “No, I want to hear you laugh!”
Seijuurou tried to protest, but Eikichi was stronger than he was and there was no escape. He couldn’t get away, no matter how hard he tried. He dissolved into childlike--yet melodic--laughter and ended up just squirming in his senpai’s arms.
Eventually, Eikichi stopped. He smiled, satisfied with himself, and sat back. “Wow,” he breathed, “I guess you really are that ticklish.”
The first time they meet, Nebuya decides that Akashi’s father is not the type of man he wants to cross. All things being equal, he could probably take the man down in a few punches (although he is related to his son) but all things are not equal and herein lies the problem. Both of them know that the balance is tipped in Akashi’s father’s favor, that not only is the ball in his court but he’s got a fifty-point lead in the fourth quarter.
But maybe it’s not really that much of a problem after all. Maybe this isn’t that sort of game—and with Akashi himself, it’s usually not that straightforward to begin with. So Nebuya looks at Akashi’s father from across the table and allows himself to meet his eyes. Akashi’s father nods, barely perceptibly, and Akashi’s fingers curl a little tighter around the side of Nebuya’s thigh.
The thing that Eikichi’s always liked about Akashi is that Akashi doesn’t treat him like an idiot. He’s treated him as someone on a lower tier, sure, but in terms of basketball skill Eikichi still is lower, is still gathering his strength and honing his skills. But Akashi doesn’t dismiss him as another meathead the way the previous captain did, the way Reo sometimes does and the way Mayuzumi almost always does (although he finds reasons to be standoffish toward everyone). Akashi doesn’t underestimate him, places faith in his mind the way no one else bothers to—even Kotarou has a vague grasp of what makes Eikichi himself and leaves that to what it is. Akashi talks to him now, asks him questions to which he probably knows the answers, listens—he’s changed; he values Eikichi’s opinion rather than merely his understanding. He already knows how Eikichi feels about him when he asks, probably knows (or has a good idea) that Eikichi’s going to take those slender hands in his and tell him honestly; he wants it to happen. It feels like everything they’ve said or done has led up to this moment, listening to each other, the words that are implicit but must be said.

Eikichi’s a pretty weird guy; Kotarou’s known that for a while. He doesn’t usually talk to himself, though, and if he does, he doesn’t yell and have a really weird tone of voice. It’s possible he’s possessed, but…Kotarou doesn’t believe in that shit. So he opens the door to the locker room. No demons. Eikichi’s wearing a tie, which is a bit unusual, but his pose is weird. He usually slouches when he’s not playing ball, especially when he’s talking to Akashi, which he is (which makes the whole damn situation even weirder).
Akashi’s uniform is ruffled and he’s standing on the bench, hands on his hips. They both turn to glare at Kotarou.
“What? Am I getting in the middle of some lovers’ quarrel?”
“Kotarou,” says Eikichi. He still sounds weird. “We seem to have switched bodies.”
“Ha ha,” says Kotarou.
Akashi picks his nose.
“Motherfucker,” says Kotarou. “Actually?” Akashi wouldn’t do that, even for a joke. He’s twisted, but not that twisted, right?
“Yes,” says Eikichi (who is really Akashi).
“Have you guys had sex like that yet?”
Their glares are so worth it.

The amusement has worn off by the middle of morning practice when neither of them can get anything done because they’re not used to these bodies and each is more concerned with what the other is doing to his body.
“You can’t eat that much, Eikichi. You’ve already surpassed my caloric intake and that’s not on my practice schedule!”
“You’re not jumping high enough. You’re the one who designed my practice schedule in the first place!”
“I am unused to having muscles that work this way.”
“Well, I’m unused to having a stomach this small.”
“This is lame,” says Kotarou.
Reo is still hiding his eyes.
They’ve resolved it somewhat by the time afternoon practice rolls around, still yapping at each other about stuff that happened in the classroom. Eikichi’s sudden perfection at math, by far his worst subject, was a sight to behold, but now Eikichi-in-Akashi’s body is mad because they’ll expect him to be better than he is. Akashi’s problem is exactly the reverse; all Kotarou can do is be thankful that there wasn’t a student council meeting today or they’d be at each other’s throats tenfold.
Coach ends practice early because he really can’t deal with their shit, not that Kotarou blames him. He can’t either. They were all supposed to go to dinner together, too.
“I wonder if they fuck they’ll switch back,” he says.
Reo looks at him with desperation in his eyes. “I’ll help you lock them in the locker room.”
