in which your love interest is a bit of an asshole. actor!mark and actor!y/n are characters of a new movie. they’re not the leads, but they’re side characters with their own tiny love story (we love subplots). they have a lot of chemistry - they’ve worked together as a couple on a tv show and have sort of been typecast as each other’s significant other - so they get a lot of attention from fans when they go places together or are seen travelling for the film. despite all this, they really don’t like each other. mark thinks y/n is too tightwound on set, y/n thinks mark is too relaxed on the job. y/n would tell you that it was mark that locked her in the makeup caravan on the second day of shooting, and mark would tell you that even though she says it was an accident, she totally meant to spill coffee on his costume. but our story is set during the filming of one of the last scenes, in which their characters finally confess that they care about each other, lean in for a kiss, but are interrupted by the phone ringing. y/n knows her lines backwards, and does the scene perfectly. mark, too, but something in him tells him to close that gap between, to actually kiss y/n instead of stopping right before his lips touch hers. shes surprised, of course, but she doesn’t realise what’s happening until she registers the phone ringing, and marks hand reaching out to lift the phone before slamming it back down on the receiver, his hands moving back to her body in order to keep kissing her. filming has to be postponed for that scene because y/n’s lips go red, and mark can be seen smiling to himself as he waits just off the set.
