It's the little things that John loves the most. That when they wake up and can't find the energy to get out of bed, let alone go to school, Sherlock is there with gentle kisses and whispered encouragements. That when dinner time comes around, even though they'll grumble about Sherlock never helping or keeping the kitchen clean, they're so happy to have someone there to cook and eat with that it doesn't really matter. That when a teacher makes some off handed comment about 'men and women' and John is hit with a wave of dysphoric sickness that settles in their stomach that makes them want to bolt their and then, they can text Sherlock and he will reply with words full of love and reassurance. That every time they come home, Sherlock is there waiting for a hug and a kiss and sometimes needing a cuddle, needing someone to take care of him and John can do that. They can take care of him. That when they both just can't take it anymore, can't take the comments and the looks and the not fitting in and the stress and everything. They can just go. They can take a train to the country or a cab to his parents and just escape from the messy world for a bit. It's the little things about having they're soulmate with them that makes it all okay.
