I grew up in the 90s. I am very aware what convertible pants are.
The point was, EAxis made the pants then chopped them to shorts, but used different textures for the shorts than the pants and slightly different mapping.

That’s true, but since part of the basic training process involves breaking down the individual identity so as to form a new group identity as soldiers, they should at this point be a little hard to tell apart. I can do it if I try. The forage cap’s red phase is nice and bright, and Chester has glasses, so he’s the easiest. Junior and Nathan are indistinguishable from the back, but from the front Junior has glasses and his face is distinctive enough, with large enough features, to tell him from Chester. Cyd, Julien, and Rhett are the tough ones, since S3 is so much too light and the forage cap’s browns and blacks are too similar. Thank goodness for the Hart nose!
