In case anyone hasn't heard, the cyclospora outbreak affecting tons of people in the US right now is coming from Taylor Farms produce. Best to stay away from bagged lettuce and prepared salads completely right now, but especially the ones mentioned in the screenshot:

Taylor Farms Earthbound Farms Little Salad Bar (Aldi) Marketside (Walmart) Kroger House Brand Target private label greens Costco salads and greens etc Trader Joe's chopped salad kits and fresh produce Fast food: McDonalds, Taco Bell, (Yum! Brands), Chipotle, Subway, Pizza Hut, KFC, Olive Garden, Top Golf, Red Lobster, Burger King, etc.

This is not the first time I've heard about a Taylor Farms foodborne illness outbreak. I stopped eating their salads after reading a description of the conditions in their facilities. Doesn't sound like they've improved anything.

We need a fully funded and staffed FDA, and regulations with teeth - and that's exactly what we don't have under Trump. To make things worse, the CDC is no longer tracking these outbreaks. We're on our own.

Outbreak is considered to have started 1 May, I was laid off on the 27th. That would do it.

HEB-branded greens also come from Taylor. Simple Truth Organic is also a Taylor brand sold exclusively through the Kroger conglomerate.

CANADA, THIS MEANS YOU TOO. I used to run English/French bilingual product for EBF, and I shipped to the Baja California warehouse right alongside the stuff for the US.

Another design is using 2 20x25x1 filters, taping them to the sides of the box fan and then to each other so they sort of make a triangle, then cutting cardboard to make a top and bottom to the triangle.

This was discovered as a more effective design during the 2020 US west coast fires.

I’ve personally used both the flat single-filter version AND the triangular two-filter version, and based on subjective personal experience I would argue that the benefits from the second filter, both in terms of airflow and filtration, are absolutely worth it. If you need a makeshift air filter and you have two filters to work with, build the triangle (if not the box, i have no idea how good that one works but based on the info here i presume it’s a fair bit better.)

We literally built one this morning because the air quality had gotten so bad from all the wildfire smoke coming in from Canada (and we live closer to NYC ffs). I was so sick when I woke up this morning and my eyes were red and irritated and itchy. My mouth and throat felt constantly dry despite being properly hydrated. I was constantly sneezing.

Our cube has only been running for about five hours. My mouth no longer feels dry. My eyes are mostly back to normal. Sneezing has been greatly reduced. I’m still sick and that might take a while, but this is a HUGE improvement. The whole cube costs less than $100 to make and that included getting the materials delivered through Door Dash.

Build yourself a cube or whatever variation is necessary for your budget/living space. It will make a difference, I promise.

And you know what? Even if I weren't happy about it, so what? You should always search backwards in a blog before following it, so you know roughly what you're in for and are sure it's not a bot. That's basic tumblr curation protocol, seems to me. You have a right to know the degree of assholery you're letting yourself in for.

Everyone's a jerk on the internet sometimes, and sometimes you can engage with someone who's ignorant but not malicious and bring them along; but each of us is the final arbiter of whose jerkiness is worth putting up with for us.

And it is a fact that Jews cannot trust goyim to recognize their own anti-semitism; any more than blacks can trust white people to recognize their own racism or trans people can trust cis people to recognize their own transphobia, and so on and on hopefully not forever, amen. These things are systemic and therefore invisible to those not oppressed themselves.

So please, please protect yourself -- even if you have to protect yourself from me. My good intentions are no guarantee, and I have no right to resent it when other people act on that.

Millie is just too gravid to help at the store today, so MJ goes in on his own and does all right. Nor is she a seductress in any kind of negative or manipulative sense - she has a mutual relationship with a powerful man who then breaks up with her, and afterwards she keeps protection against him in the form of evidence that the relationship existed. She HAS blackmail material, she even waves it at him threateningly because he treated her like shit, but she never even uses it.

Irene Adler is not a thief, femme fatale, or blackmailer. She's just a cool lady that wants to be left alone.

If your Sherlock Holmes adaptation has a character whose identifying qualities are that she is a seductive criminal in love with Holmes, you have created a character that is basically the literal opposite of Irene Adler and you should name her something else.

She's also -- and I cannot stress this enough -- from New Jersey. IMO this is the single most important detail missing from all the adaptations -- IRENE ADLER IS FROM NEW JERSEY.

Please just once in my life I would like to see this adapted faithfully it would be the funniest fucking thing ever.

Granada Holmes! tzikeh wants to watch Granada Holmes!

At the beginning of the story, Holmes and Watson believe the king is being blackmailed; nothing wrong with taking back blackmail material from the blackmailer. During the course of the story they realize they're working for the wrong party (and that the right party doesn't need them). At the end of the Granada episode there's a wonderful little moment where the king condescends to hold his hand out for Holmes to shake and Holmes cuts him dead but Watson steps in pointedly to take the condescension himself, to whom it was not offered, very obviously covering Holmes's rudeness in a way that doesn't actually disavow the rudeness.

Which is when I knew this series would be really good (it's the first episode, as Scandal is the first of the short stories), because as far as I'm concerned an adaptation stands or falls on its Watsons.

Anybody who only know Holmes through the adaptations needs to read the short stories (and Hound of the Baskervilles, the only really good novel in the franchise), in the same way that anyone who only knows Dracula through adaptations needs to read the novel. Watson is the only character done more consistently wrong than Adler.
