Coming up with some backstory for Narook and enchanted by the highly improbable, yet incredibly entertaining concept of him being Tahno's dad.
Because like, Narook's Noodles being the Wolfbats hangout even after they stop being the Wolfbats makes it seem like they just enjoy being there. Because they're hanging out at their friends dad's place. Also all tho posters of Tahno on the walls are the equivalent of putting your kid's homework on the fridge.

5. On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?
Gun
...Or more seriously, it slightly depends on whether she has to work or not, but both on and off the job she tends to have:
-Credit chit-Cigarettes/lighter (Before she hooks up with Fenir, and when she briefly picks them up again during the Reaper War)-Later in life, business cards-Usually a snack of some kind if she hasn't eaten it already-A knife (Though that's more strapped onto her than literally in her pocket)-And of course she almost always has a gun on her, though never in her pockets because she makes bad decisions but she's not a complete idiot
On the job, she has a few more things, but they're pretty standard so not really worth mentioning
11. In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been? There's been a few, between her first time running off on her own, her final ordeal with Karsus and even her various reunions with friends she's betrayed after said ordeal, but I think what takes the cake is when she was right before she got her biotic implants put in. Basically the person who Narrok had hired, unbeknownst to Narrok, had quite the grudge against him, and before the sedative kicked in, the doctor had mused outloud what they should do to "Narrok's pet".Which would have been terrifying to anyone, but Nera was a kid at the time on top of it and the guy did make good on his musings, albeit probably a little more subtly than expected. Still, the incident- being unable to move or speak properly when someone has their way with you- stuck with Nera and left her with an intense fear of doctors that's still quite prominent into adulthood. Even now, she doesn't get medical attention unless someone she trusts is with her, stays with her, and sometimes quite literally has to hold her hand. So yeah. Other things stick with her, sure, and she's had more directly life-threatening experiences, but I think that's the one that haunts her the longest, and the most intensely.
20. In what ways does your character compare themselves to others? Do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism?
She does this a lot less now, but in the past she compared herself to others constantly for, well, both purposes, honestly. She'd compare herself to evaluate if she was "good enough", because she was always desperate to be useful, and would panic if she thought she wasn't. If she viewed herself as better than someone, she used that to validate herself. If she viewed herself as worse, she used it to criticize herself and drive herself to improve, albeit with a lot of mental self-flagellation.Since she's more genuinely confident now, has a better sense of self and a bunch of people relying on her, her comparisons are now more to gauge her limits, so she can know when to delegate certain things to other people. She's not perfect at it, and she still can bite off more than she can chew, but she's getting better. Or at the very least, now she actually listens to certain people when they tell her, “Don’t.”
31. Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable.
No surprise to anyone, she's most comfortable when she's around Fenir, or surrounded by friends. As she grows more into her leadership role in the Blades, she grows most comfortable surrounded by them, particularly those who have been in the group since the beginning. Basically, she likes being surrounded by people she trusts, and that's where she feels she can best relax.
She's also pretty comfortable with a gun in front of her, though that's a different type of comfortable lol
Narrok (from the perspective of hindsight after being dead): Is there anything you regret about the way you brought Nera up? Anything you wish you told her? Anything you think you did right?
Well, if he were dead he wouldn't have much to say because dead, but if the dead could speak and not scream about their endless suffering, here's what he'd have to say:
"..I suppose I would have been more honest and upfront about what happened with her mother. Could've avoided her leaving with that. If she still left I wouldn't stop her from leaving, though I'd tell her which of my contacts to avoid.
Just 'cause I could handle them doesn't mean she could. Maybe I'd have tried to get a hold of some of the better people I knew in my last minutes to make sure she didn't get in over her head.
I think I did right with her, overall. There were some habits I wish I'd nipped in the bud, like letting her curiosity cloud her judgment, or running off with that big mouth of hers, but she's managed to stay alive so far. She can shoot a gun with the best of 'em, and the little shit's clever. Not as clever as she thinks, but clever.
Sometimes I wish I'd had more time with her, but well, I'm fucking dead so there's not much to be done about that. Besides, I know she'll make it. It'll be tough, but she'll make it."

✗ Narrok's most prominent scar was a large gash across his face. It was actually back from his days working in security for the slaving industry, from a particularly rebellious slave who managed to smash Narrok's face against the corner a metal cage.
✧ Having worked in the industry he did, Narrok saw a lot of... messed up situations, to say the least. And that's of course a huge understatement. I won't pick out any singular incidents, but his time as a slaver was traumatizing enough that despite forever being raised to believe that he was just doing his job and the people below him deserved what they got for being inferior, he ultimately ended up leaving everything he knew and loved to escape it, and his experiences continued to haunt him until the last of his days. Not that one should really sympathize with him for it... he DID eventually become a pirate lord, after all..
Phae:
✗Any notable scars Phae has gotten have been removed at this point, though for a while she had some pretty bad burn scars on the insides of her palm from touching hot metal that hadn't properly cooled off during her earlier days.
✧ One of the memories that freak Phae out the most is one of her few visits to her father(who also has schizophrenia), where he wasn't having a particularly good day and had a bad episode with her around. It was emotionally scarring as a kid already, but as an adult the memory disturbs her even more due to an ever-present fear that she could end up losing herself to her mental condition in a similar manner.
Tiiko:
✗Tiiko doesn't really have that many prominent scars, though he has a few small ones scattered throughout his body. Some of those include some light claw marks on his back from an ex-girlfriend who ended up getting a little too rough with him.
✧ Speaking of exes, Tiiko is very reluctant to date people, or get close to people in general because of one in particular. You see, Tiiko has a web comic which actually has a fair amount of readers at this point, and being the fairly private person he is, he always kept his true identity a secret. Or he thought he did, anyway.Turns out that his previous girlfriend had not coincidentally run into him, but had been stalking him and 'set up' their initial meeting, something which didn't come to light until Tiiko decided to end the relationship after she became increasingly controlling and hostile towards him. And... yeeeeah
Five facts about Narrok and Ranara. Bonus points if they're about sex.
Well, I’ll put down what I put down, but I’ll see if I can sneak some sex ones in there JUST FOR YOU, anon lol
Anyway, here goes:
Narrok:
Narrok was about 98 earth years old when he died
He suffered from crazy insomnia and had issues with depression and substance abuse throughout his lifetime
He was actually the son of a well-respected though not exactly good-natured military man of the batarian Hegemony
(Sex fact just for you anon) He was a bit of a sexual deviant, particularly in his younger days and was heavily into BDSM and group sex in particular.
He has/had quite a few children, both from his wife back in Khar’shan and from various people he’d boned over the years. He made one failed attempt to be involved in the lives of his wife’s children but never attempted to become involved after that.
Ranara:
Ranara was 23 years old when she got pregnant with Nera
She wasn’t very intellectual and was unfortunately a rather poor judge of character on top of that and was prone to falling in love with people she probably shouldnt have
She was very charismatic, however, and was pretty good at using her charm and good looks (and oftentimes, yes, sex) to get what she wanted
She was also an excellent marksman, which helped as well.
Unfortunately this didn’t really help when it came to raising a child, but fortunately she was aware and willing to swallow her pride enough to try and get help from her parents (TOO BAD THAT NEVER HAPPENED LOL)
First of all, I hate you, and second of all HERE ARE YOUR HEADCANONS I HATE YOU
It’s not like I like doing these or anything gosh
☾ : Sleep headcanon
Narrok- Narrok had frequent nightmares from a fairly young age up until the day he died and had a lot of issues with insomnia in general.
Rana- Ranara was actually a really heavy sleeper to the point where it was actually kind of a problem, particularly during her days in the military. She ended up being the victim of quite a few pranks because of it.
Tiiko- Tiiko actually never really had sleeping issues… until he moved to the Citadel. He’s not entirely sure what it is- could be his job, stress, or just something about the Citadel in general- but ever since he’s moved there he’s had trouble with insomnia. He usually takes melatonin or whatever the turian-equivalent is for is, with mild success.
Phae- Unsurprisingly, Phaedrius tends to be really strict about getting up early, at a certain time every morning. She wasn’t always this way, though- when she was younger she was a lot like Ranara and was really big on sleeping in until obscene hours. Her parents put a stop to that fairly quickly, though.
☠ : Drinking/drunk headcanon
At the time of his death, Narrok was actually a recovering alcoholic and had been sober for almost a decade. He’d had periods of sobriety before, but had always fallen back to drinking before those last several years.
Ranara was a frequent- though always social- drinker, though after getting pregnant with Nera she ended up quitting it for obvious reasons. When she COULD drink again, she found that she really didn’t have much of a taste for it anymore and didn’t really bother much after.
Tiiko can actually hold his liquor extremely well, much to the frustration of anyone who wants to see him loosen up a bit. It takes a significant amount of effort to get him noticeably drunk.
Phaedrius actually really loves wine and is actually pretty funny when she’s drunk, but she can’t really drink due to it interacting badly with her meds. Sometimes- in the past, at least- she’s stopped taking them briefly specifically so she could drink something.
☼ : Childhood headcanon
Narrok never really knew his father growing up due to him dying when Narrok was young. Being the oldest of several siblings and having a mother that was horribly busy trying to make ends meet, Narrok kind of took on the father role himself, for a while.
Ranara was always extremely outgoing and sociable, even from a young age, though she often had trouble with structure and rules and had an extremely difficult time in school because of it. Well, that and she was never really ‘smart’ in the traditional, academic manner.
Tiiko has a lot of siblings but essentially grew up as an only child, in a way, due to being drastically younger than his brothers . This actually never bothered him too much usually, considering he prefers to have a lot of alone time anyway and always has.
Phaedrius grew up in a well-off family and was actually rather isolated in a way, to the point where she really didn’t know a whole lot about how lower-class people lived until she was significantly older and started to interact with more people outside of her little high-class social bubble.
☯ : Genderbent headcanon
Gonna kinda lump these together because, ultimately, all these characters would essentially be the same if their genders were changed. The only differences would perhaps be from societal things or physiological things, but unfortunately since I know literally nothing about batarian women other than they exist, there’s nothing I can say for sure about Narrok.
Ranara would still want a child as a guy, but obtaining one would be a lot more… difficult, to say the least, and might not happen at all, actually. Tiiko would be exactly the same, no changes there, and Phae would still be basically the same provided his/her schizophrenia stayed the same, and yeah. Genderbent headcanons. Yep.
⋆ : Sex headcanon
Narrok had a big thing for orgies, particularly when he was younger, and had quite the colorful sexual past in his younger years. In his older years he kinda stopped caring, though.
Ranara was very sexually active throughout a good deal of her life, and probably would have continued to be so once Nera got a bit older and she hadn’t, you know, died. Unfortunately Rana was also prone to falling for people extremely easily and as such often ended up with her feelings hurt when the people she slept with tended to well, only want to sleep with her and nothing more.
Tiiko likes pegging. Well, being pegged. The person who helped him find this out was his most recent ex-girlfriend, so now it unfortunately has some negative associations with it, though he would be willing to do it again with the right, hopefully not-crazy, person.
Phae, unsurprisingly, doesn’t get laid a whole lot, for probably obvious reasons. She does, however, have quite the extensive collection of sex toys, which she uses fairly frequently.
☮ : Bedroom/house/living quarters headcanon
Narrok was actually really good about keeping his ship clean, and would frequently make sure that everything was kept in optimal condition and was well organized. He also got pretty irate with people when things weren’t kept nice and orderly.
…Which means that he got angry with Ranara quite often. Unfortunately, Ranara is a lot like her little hellspawn when it comes to organization, if not worse. One of her more common and irritating habits was leaving her dirty clothes all over the place, something she got into trouble for pretty much wherever she went.
While Tiiko isn’t exactly meticulous, he isn’t a slob, either, and tends to keep things at least decently clean, though he takes more care when it comes to his bird’s cage than anywhere else.
Phae is very meticulous about cleanliness save for one area, which would be her sewing room, as she calls it. There’s almost always some sort of half-finished project there, and cloth scraps seem to be an inevitability she seems to have come to accept. It’s almost comical, considering the almost unnerving cleanliness of the rest of her house.
☄ : Any AU headcanon (modern, school, medieval, and so on)
In an AU where Narrok never met Neralya or his crew ended up killing her, Narrok would likely have eventually shot himself in the face.
In an AU where Ranara managed to make it safely with Nera to her parents, she would have been dishonorably discharged and probably sent to prison for a few years, and would have struggled with a lot of harsh judgement and a poor reputation for the majority of the rest of her life. She’d also probably outlive her daughter.
In an AU where Tiiko didn’t take the job on the Citadel he probably would have stayed on Palaven and would likely be there when the Reapers showed up. He also probably would have been killed trying to help people evacuate.
In an AU where Phaedrius wasn’t from a wealthy family, it would take her much longer to get enough financial support to start her own business, and would have had to stay in the military much longer than she did in the current timeline, despite her illness.
♤ : Cooking headcanon
Narrok could actually cook really well, and would often cook for his wife and family. He never really did if much after leaving them, however, so this fact would often surprise people in the rare occasion that they found out.
Ranara was only slightly better a cook than Nera is, though she tried to cook often and enjoyed it. She was just, well, terrible at it.
Tiiko is fairly good at cooking, though he doesn’t do it too often. He’s actually superb at baking, though, which he learned from his grandmother before she passed away when he was in his teens.
Phaedrius isn’t a terrible cook, but she isn’t a very good one, either. If she has a recipe, generally she does pretty well, though sometimes she’s prone to trying to ‘experiment’ with… usually not that great success. She sometimes ends up eating really weird things when left to her own devices.
☻ : Mood headcanon
Narrok dealt with a lot of depression issues throughout his life and was massively paranoid, which kind of helped contribute toward his drinking and his generally sour demeanor. He actually grew to hate being a pirate towards the end of his life, and kind of fell into doing it simply because it was all he knew.
Ranara almost always a pretty upbeat person, despite her screw-ups, and was hard to bring down emotionally. At least, outwardly, she was. She tended to bottle up a lot of her issues and kinda smile through them, but there was always a side to her that knew she was constantly making mistakes and felt horribly unsatisfied with her life and her choices.
When he was younger, Tiiko had fairly frequent panic attacks that, but these days, despite his constant worries and anxieties, rarely has them these days and has learned to kind of work through them.
Even when she’s taking her meds regularly, Phaedrius still has times where she feels incredibly paranoid. She tries to ignore them and work through them, but unfortunately, that means sometimes she’ll ignore the feeling when she’s in a situation that she actually really needs to be cautious or suspicious or something/someone.
