So this might sound a little spooky, but I’ve been sitting with this thought for a while: Is using a Ouija board actually dangerous?

I lost my grandmother in 2023. She was such a huge part of my life — the kind of person whose voice stays in your head long after she’s gone. Lately, I’ve been thinking about trying to reach out, not for anything dramatic, just to feel a connection again.

I know people have mixed opinions about spirit boards — some say it’s just a game, others swear by the paranormal risks. I'm not looking to invite anything dark; I just genuinely miss her and wonder if there's a safe, respectful way to try and say hi.

If any of you have experience with Ouija boards (or know safer alternatives for contacting loved ones who've passed), I’d love to hear your thoughts. Mediums, dream rituals, candle work — I’m open to learning.

Obviously, I immediately placed my main tarot deck, several of my favorite crystals, an anointed green spell candle, my pendant, and my mother's serpentine anklet out to charge in the moon's empowered light. I also slept soundly, allowing the light to shine on my bare skin to charge me as well, after resting my eyes on its grace for many hours into the night.

Now, this morning, I awoke to the birds singing and the first rays of sunlight I've seen in over a week. The second, waning, phase of this moon's cycle will most likely hold an energy akin to reward and harvest. But it won't be a harvest from hard work, it feels more like a harvest of rest. The seemingly endless days of bidding my time and healing will bear fruit. This new moon will be aimed toward a true new beginning, its energy fully and purely aligned with its phase for the first time in awhile.
