I didn't think I'd make it this far,

Yes, I know the journey is still long,

But I think for me I've raised the bar,

So I think so far I haven't done any wrong,

My accomplishments have stood,

Above what I expected,

Everything I thought I understood,

Is now rejected,

My mind is a year older,

My body still the same,

And the weather grows colder,

And soon they will see my name,

I've drawn out my values,

Figured out my meaning,

Collected the key clues,

To find everything I see appealing,

My future to me is full of attraction,

And I can admit that now at least I have a goal,

Maybe even a passion,

A hill top where I will stick my flagpole.

I just had a glimpse into my future of turning into Awkward Dad

I'm downloading tons of music, by artist, alphabetically. Currently I'm on the E's. I got to Eric Prydz, and immediately went to the one song I know by him, Call On Me, before I checked out any of his other songs.

Dad walked by and goes "VALERIE BY STEVE WINWOOD."

And I said, "No. Call On Me, Eric Prydz...although I know this is just a mix of something, because I've heard the actual song."

And dad just goes "LOOK IT UP. VALERIE. STEVE WINWOOD."

Lo and behold, the old man was right.

And I just know, 40 years in my future, I will have an adult child listening to some mix-of-a-mix-of-a-mix of some mid-2000s song, and I'll be like, "THE PRIME TIME OF YOUR LIFE BY DAFT PUNK." And my kid will be like "No mom, this is Optimus Prime's Lifetime."
