DISCLAIMER: I am aware some of these have already been defaulted similarly by other simmers. My versions are different swatches and enabled for elders, when others are typically yf-af only.
All images are taken in Body Shop only, for ease of time. I have tested all defaults in my copy of Ultimate Collection on my laptop, but please let me know if there are any issues. I am still new to default clothes!

After ages of poking at it, including two different earlier versions I scrapped, I'm finally happy enough with my novel default for historical games to share it.
Because I'm playing a challenge that will span multiple eras, I focused on keeping things timeless. I want plots written in the Roman era to make sense when I get to the Victorians. There's almost nothing specific to any particular era, so it may feel more modern than a medieval-specific or Regency-specific default. But the most modern technology included in all this is an hourglass.
Click the cut for pictures, credits, and the download.
In general, I took out modern medicine, modern police imagery, and modern sports, in favor of more icons representing romantic plotlines and food, two things the original plot icons mostly ignored. I replaced the nooboo icon with the hen and chicks, rather than a pregnancy or baby-themed one; it can represent parenthood, it can fit into a children's book, and it's just cute.
The book cover icons visible in the novel-writing interface are from Almighty Hat's default replacement, which you can either download direct from her then make sure mine loads second, or you can download the all-in-one package, where I included the book covers (and only the small FT book covers, not all the other good stuff at Hat's place) along with the plot icons.
Neither version of my default includes a replacement for the book model itself. For that, you'll need someone else's file - I'm presently using @ebbycarolina's awesome multi-cover default, but before that I was using Hat's.
The bookcase books got an overhaul too, both in the icons that show when a sim is reading them, and for many of them, a reinterpretation of what kind of books they are.
Well, not cooking, a type of book that has basically never changed since it was being done in hieroglyphs or cuneiform. But "mystery" has been reinterpreted as "mysticism" or maybe "divination." Children's books didn't really exist until the 17th century, but our sim kids still want someone to read to them, so they get some animals to represent Aesop's fables (though the way the read-to interaction works, the parents will probably still be talking about toilets and teddy bears, and if a kid reads to themselves, they may think of the classic fable "the tortoise and the grasshopper.") Drama is meant to represent the Iliad, though of course the Trojan Horse, which I had to use to make it clear this isn't just "ancient warriors and a boat," doesn't actually appear in the Iliad.
Romance gave me some trouble, because, well... pastoral romance? Chivalric romance? Romance, as a literary term, has a history and associations beyond "The Billionaire CEO's Secret Mistress." But people have always had a yen for the spicy parts of anything, and I only get four plot points to work with, so I focused on the parts about falling in love, burning passion and whatnot. It can be about Daphnis and Chloe or Tristram and Isolde as needed. Sci-fi, meanwhile, I treated as "fantastic literature," and I reused the Demeter-and-Persephone myth from my mythological default because I really liked how that came out in-game.
The credits:
Book covers, if you take the package where they're included, are by Almighty Hat.
The title on the graphic is from a Terry Pratchett quote.
All the Freetime plot icons and the equivalent thought-bubbles are by Freepik.
For the bookshelf genre novels:
Mystery/mystic: Monkik, from the astrology collection.
Sci-fi/mythology: Maxicons, mythology collection and Fruit and Vegetables (for the pomegranate.)
Sunni's medieval newspaper default is fantastic, but it didn't really fit in my game. So I made another medieval newspaper default! This one's meant to look like something out of a JRPG.
This one's cloned from @episims default newspaper- which has become my favourite newspaper default mesh, btw. It's meant to look like rag paper, which was pretty common for early modern broadsheets.
The text is written in fonts from the Legend of Zelda series- the headline font is Hylian from Breath of the Wild, and the body text is from Ocarina of Time.
The non-sim images, and the small ads on the front page of the newspaper, are taken from the Octopath Traveler games. The Sim images are mine, from my ongoing @kingdomofwildwood story. We've got Queen Yovia, and a couple characters you may recognize later.
Newspaper has a clean and dirty state, and has all EP functions.
Hey anon! Sorry it took me so long to answer this. Your ask has been in the back of my mind for weeks but I kept forgetting to actually answer you each time I sat down at my computer. Thanks adhd!
Default skin replacements are vanilla by @luumia, I have all of the fun add-ons too.
I also have bare; a skintone pack by @lamatisse in my game for more variety.

Today Iâm bringing you: my first default replacement! I actually made this like a year ago and it was only meant to be for practice (I originally intended to replace this outfit with something completely different but I scrapped that), but I figured Iâd share anyway, maybe somebody will want it.
tfbodyhipmicrominiskirt replaced with the full body version of @deedee-simsâs 4t2 conversion of Sentateâs Bethany Dress. I used the pink swatch for the blue-pink stripey one, and the yellow swatch for the orange-peach coloured one. Like the image says, it replaces the teen version (BG) only, the adult one that came with NL is untouched, you can use a different DR for that. I think I managed to not mess up anything, but if not, let me know.
Download: Box
(I only uploaded the package file, since itâs only one file. Somebody tell me, should I still put it in a rar/zip? Is that needed/preferred for any reason?)
Time for a default dump! And an ungodly amount of rambling! Youâre welcome!
Elders use the adult shape for everything. This is a general rule for anything related to elder men by me.
cutopshortsleevecollar (set to M only), tmtopshortsleevecollar,  amtopshortsleevecollar, amtopshirtpolo and emtopshortsleevecollar replaced with Andraviâs Ren, Tate & Blake as tops by Winter on Silivainâs top-only alpha tunic. Most ages get 15 recolours, am gets 17. The extra 2 are the only 2 tops in the âBlakeâ style. I combined some duplicate textures to reduce the file size, beyond the usual texture referencing I always do. (Actually now that I think of it, I havenât released any of those... I have a backlog because Iâm lazy with previews, but I want you to at least see what youâre getting.)
There were quite a few unused recolours so get more of em here if you wanna :)))))
More previews of the defaults under the cut + the download.
tmtopnaked, amtoptanktop and emtopdressshirt replaced with some of AlmightyHatâs Aelia Autumn recolours of FantasyRogueâs top-only tunic. Thereâs 9 recolours for am, 8 for em, and 6 for tm. Iâve also included a âcompleterâ for tm, meaning the 3 recolours I didnât use in the defaults, plus the corresponding child recolours since theyâre repository. I recommend checking Hatâs post out for even more colours if you like an abundance of choice!
tmbottomboardshorts, tmbottomkneeshorts, ambottomlongshorts and embottomlongshorts, also known as âall shortsâ for tm-em replaced with @vampirekiss6661â²s multi-boot bottoms, specifically the ArisSkirt recolours. All ages get 9 recolours.
FYI, @asimplevampireâ has already defaulted ambottomlongshorts over here. I do like them, but I like the idea of having all the shorts defaulted together better. Also I straight up forgot.
tmbottompantscuffsboots, tmbottomtightpantspointytoe, ambottompants, ambottomwillpants and embottompantssocksshoes replaced with @vampirekiss6661â²s multi-boot bottoms, this time the Rogue version. All 6 original recolours get used, and all ages get 6 recolours. Thanks to rudhira for the default package I used as a base.
tmbottomcargopants and ambottomcargopants replaced with (you guessed it!) the final version of @vampirekiss6661â²s multi-boot bottoms - ArisJacket. 4 recolours for am (enabled for em) and 5 for tm - they get Gold as the extra.

Delete the âunmergedâ folders if you want all the defaults. There can only be one! Which are unmerged are a bit random but make sense to my scatterbrain. I use the merged packages but figured that since they exist I might as well let you have the choice.
The files are compressorized, there are text files with info (chaotic info, but still), and even previews included (gasp!). I decided to keep the meshes in separate packages, but theyâre included.
I used at least @ello-sims, @rudhira and @lottie-simsâ default packages as a base for mine, but I didnât think to note down exactly whose packages I uses for which until literally the last one I did. Sorry. I didnât extract any resources for this project. Just a buttload of clicking and double checking my progress and making sure everything works. I also colour coordinated the shortsleevecollar defaults for some reason. I think I did it so I wouldnât be lost, but who knows honestly. What am I, a mind reader?!
Yeah thanks to everyone whose work I relied on, one day I hope to be able make my own meshes and textures. That day is far away.
