Netflix has to have some of the most impressive and genuinely fascinating documentary series’ out there. When it started I was sceptical that the whole ‘producing our own media’ thing was gonna be a pointless cash grab, but the amount of time, money and hope they have put into films, docos and tv series that you know wouldn’t be greenlit on any other mainstream media outlet is genuinely astounding. I thank them for that.

So Far Cry 5 is pretty fucked up. A whole county under the power of a crazy organization and no one can do anything and it’s just a lawless insanity where people disappear but nothing can be done. The police are just as powerless as the townsfolk.
I kept telling myself, this could never happen in the US with our technology and connectivity. Just the logistics are so far fetched...
And then I watched the first episode of the documentary Murder Mountain on Netflix
Holy fuck you guys. This shit can actually happen! The aesthetic. The mountain remoteness. A whole county under the control of illegal marijuana farming... people dying and disappearing and no one being able to do anything... it’s scary similar.
Highly recommend if you’ve played Far Cry 5 to give Murder Mountain a watch. It’s horrifying and fascinating.
