Scientists Make Sourdough Bread from Yeast Found Inside the stomach of a 5,000-Year-Old Mummy
Scientists have kept his body frozen since he was found in 1991, which led to some surprising discoveries of ancient and modern microbial life inside his stomach.
“What we didn’t expect to find was yeast,” lead study author Mohamed Sarhan of the Eurac Research institute told Reuters.
"If you tell anyone you have yeast, they immediately ask: Can we use it for bread?" Sarhan said.
"Initially it didn't work," the microbiologist admitted.
But after three months of effort "we had a very, very good sourdough," Sarhan said with a laugh.
When asked if the scientists were considering using the yeast to brew beer, he responded: "It's on the list."

This Fossil Friday, meet the Museum’s mummified hadrosaur—one of the most complete pieces of Mesozoic dinosaur remains ever found! This fossil represents one of the greatest discoveries in the history of paleontology: a rare glimpse at the texture of dinosaur skin. Like the skin on modern birds’ feet, this duck-billed dinosaur’s skin was marked by bumps called tubercles. The tubercles are larger along the animal’s back and sides and smaller around the joints, which needed to be flexible.

Since this is the bog website AND the strong as fuck ice mummy website, I have another thing I'm curious about:
What is the strongest mummy type?
Bog bodies
Ice mummies
Egyptian prepared mummies
Religious mummies (e.g. incorruptible saints, sokushinbutsu)
Arid desert mummies (e.g. Tarim, Atacama)
Salt mummies
Whatever Lady Dai had going on
Modern mummies (e.g. Jeremy Bentham, Lenin)
The fabled honey mummy
A secret mummy option (comment)
