keep in mind, i don't know where this shit came from. a bitch was just twisting and turning unable to sleep last night. go figure.
so, it was set in gotham, and roso have essentially known each other their whole lives. as a young kid, roman befriended solana's big brother (it wasn't wes. some other nigga). he's a few years older than her, and they all go to the same private school. sol and her brother don't come from much and are being raised by their grandmas (maternal and paternal) after their parents were killed in a plane crash. roman considered sol's brother to be like his best friend. roman is an only child, and his parents are still alive. awful people, too. nakoa is physically abusive, and viviana is emotionally abusive.
roman really values his friendship with her brother and even sol, too. she's not really a friend, but he likes her. feels protective of her. well, sol's brother ends up being killed in a drive by when they're all still kids, and that really messes with roman and destroys solana. i think the boys were like 12, and solana was eight or nine. anyway, from there, roman makes like a promise to himself to always look out for her, cause you know he's naturally protective and shit.
also, solana's fam is not involved in the crime world at all, but it's gotham, so it's not uncommon for those lines to be blurred where people are friends or friendly with crime families.
as the years go on, roman takes up a protector type role with solana, and they eventually do become friends. he's fiercely protective of her and values her as a friend. he talks to her and vice versa. the typical hates everyone except her. that lasts over the years, even as roman goes to college (locally), and solana doesn't. i know in this one, she doesn't really have dreams of being a nurse or doctor. she just wants to do and pursue art.
one of the scenes i had showing how much roman doesn't play over here was him coming home with a random hoe (yes, he's a whore), and sol being there sitting on his sofa crying, and immediately he's attentive and tending to her. the hoe makes a smart ass comment like, "who the fuck is this bitch?" and roman puts that heifer out with the quickness lmao sol was there because she was on a date, and her date got rough with her, and she was scared, because he wouldn't let her go, so naturally, she just went to roman's place, because she didn't want to deal with her grandma's questioning her about what happened. plus, roman has always made her feel safe.
the other scene was solana frantic and scared shitless when she finds out there was an attack on roman's life, and she shows up at the hospital almost demanding to see him, relieved as hell to know he's okay. he was shot.
another scene was a few years later, roman is the tribal chief and is around like 28. his family is putting pressure on him to marry, and viv really wants him to marry this italian girl who's been in the picture for years. imagine sam 2.0. viv just knew the marriage would happen, and solana, at this point in love with roman, always tried to prepare herself for when he'd eventually marry and their dynamic would change.
so, he comes to see her at the local community center where she teaches art classes, walking her to her car since she teaches evening classes, too. he starts broaching the subject of marriage, and naturally, solana tries to play it off that she's happy for him, that he should marry and start a family, thinking it's about ole girl. when really, roman tells her that he doesn't want to marry ms. ma'am. he wants to be with and marry her. because he's in love with her.
sol is surprised for all the reasons but also because, in this world, mafia families only marry when it's to their advantage. roman marrying solana makes "no sense" because she doesn't come from money, nor is she in the crime world, which is also why she tried hard to downplay her feelings/love for roman, because she never thought it could happen.
but, we all know roman don't gaf when it comes to her. so, he gives his parents the middle finger, and they wed.
fast forward, something happens (i know what, but i'm not saying π) that basically shatters their marriage. solana doesn't hate roman, not all the way, and ro is just trying to fix things, but it's hard.
then, she ends up getting pregnant and having baby boy, and the roles are almost reversed. the baby is healing for her and makes her want to try to make her marriage work, because she does love him. she always has, but now it's roman who is cold with her and stoic and emotionally disconnected from baby boy for.....reasons.
despite this baby loving his daddy so much. π₯Ί
