Still no new mugwump to take on last one's work load?
I'm honestly worried for our pink fellows. Their work load was already way too heavy as it was, it's scary to think about how it is with one of them gone.
Not a single one of the current MoMs is deemed competent or trustworthy enough to take on the role? What's going on? Will they have to take in someone who's not even MoM?
I'm not aware of the current leaders reputations and whereabouts but Dan not being able to find a new mugwump to fit in the role is a bit, if not very, concerning.
With everything going on regarding the merge of two sites and the chaotic timing of server downtime, I don't think it's fair to expect much progress on that point right now. First things first, and that is to finish the merge and tackle all the issues that will likely arise from that. I don't think the mugwump situation will be on the table until the dust has settled and things are running smoothly again.
It's also not a decision to take lightly. I'm sure there are candidates, the question is which one of them will be best suited for the job.
It's something that should take some time, making sure that the final decision is a well informed one with all factors taken into consideration. And it's not an easy position to fill since it requires a combination of experience, good leadership and familiarity with different WoX sites, not to mention that you'd need someone who can work well with the site leaders in question as well as the other mugwumps and the site owner. And when a site leader needs help and support, they should be able to go to their mugwump and the mugwump should provide the help and support. That takes a pretty wide range of skills and experience - marketing, web development, leadership, administration and most importantly communication.
The good news is that we have people like that on WoX. Or at least we used to...
And I admit, I'm not making it any easier by adding pressure through public criticism and calling for high standards. A mugwump who doesn't have what it takes to live up to demands and expectations will inevitably become a target for complaints and criticism, and that might scare people off. On one hand, that should filter out candidates who are not suited for the position but on the other hand it might also scare off the people who would be perfect for it.
It's a tricky balancing act.
