You should add some indian/other cultures into your mudwings
Woftober #12 - Subcultures
This prompt was MADE for me! I really love the idea of merging mudwing fashion with Indian culture, but I came across just ONE problem in the making of this post…
That is, wearing jewelry is VERY incompatible with the mudwing lifestyle. We see a few instances of mudwings doing it in the books (not counting chameleon’s mudwing form,) but these are mostly present in the Guide to the Tribes series where Queen Moorhen is drawn with a simple crown and jewels inlaid to her scales. I thought the ‘inlaying stones’ thing was really cool, but I was looking mainly for something that related more to Indian culture. And then …
HENNA! Not only would henna stay on the scales for longer, it would also stay intact through a mudroll and be easy to apply through teamwork - which happens to be the trademark of the mudwing sib group.
Henna could also be used to replicate the conventional jewelry pieces other tribes tend to wear through being placed in the same areas/forming the same general shapes. (to my knowledge) Henna is mostly used during weddings or festivals, but obviously mudwings don’t really have conventional marriage… and so we turn to other occasions such as battle victories and coronations.
I would love to elaborate on this more, but in the spirit of posting on schedule I am forced to leave it for another day. It’s kind of ironic that I never post about mudwings because they are actually my second favorite tribe AND my most favorite oc is my mudwing, but that’s just the way the cookie crumbles.
