If I had to put money on what Arryn’s not yet seen favorite scene is, it’ll be bees confession with Blake kissing yang. And if she knows about it then it has to happen in 9 because if she hasn’t recorded it yet then how would she know and not just mention an earlier scene that she knows about

but consider... eliott developing a love— or at least a new appreciation— for science because of lucas; and the same happening with lucas and literature/the humanities because of eliott.

eliott having to take a mandatory science credit during his first year of university— some huge, super impersonal intro course— and needing help nearly immediately. 

the prof is swamped with dozens of other students asking for help, and the TAs’ explanations don’t help much. he comes home one day stressed out of his mind, and lucas asks if he can help. 

they work through his current assignment painstakingly slow, but lucas’ patience for him never wavers, not even the slightest. at first he feels bad for coming to lucas— swamped with his workload for terminale— with even more work, but lucas seems to enjoy not only helping him, but the material that he’s helping with. this quickly becomes a routine for them— sometimes it’s a few minutes and some quick questions, other times it’s an entire evening.

the time for the final rolls around, and he sits down with more confidence than he’s ever felt in a science course before. when he reads the questions, he hears the answers in lucas’ voice, explaining terms and concepts to him, cracking awful science jokes that he understands more and more frequently. if he snickers to himself during the exam because of such jokes, no one has to know.

grades are posted and eliott did... surprisingly well. quite a bit better than the class average, in fact. he celebrates by making— or should he say ordering— lucas a nice dinner to express his gratitude. lucas explains that it wasn’t thanks to him, that eliott did so well because he worked hard.

if eliott’s being honest, he actually had a good time in the class. the material is interesting, he’s just never had someone explain it to him in a way that he understands. until lucas, with his soft smile and his soothing voice and his endless patience.

so when the time comes to register for his second year courses, he signs up for the successor course.

lucas never saw the point of literature. the classes he had to take for it felt completely and utterly unnecessary.

and then he met eliott.

one day he asks eliott why he does it, what made literature so appealing to him. eliott says that it makes him feel understood. he says that he sees himself in the words of others— especially virginia woolf. when he feels too much or too little to put into words, he reads books like the waves and he feels comforted, somehow.

so naturally lucas reads woolf’s entire bibliography.

it’s a slow and arduous process, but if it’ll help him understand eliott and his brain better, then so be it. and he doesn’t have the worst time. and so he asks for more recommendations— maybe something a bit more modern, though?

eliott directs lucas to stories that helped him, when he was younger, when he was scared. lucas pictures a younger eliott, flipping from page to page, slowly but surely finding himself between the lines. he reads aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe and cries several times throughout because he didn’t plan on finding himself, finding a story similar to his own— but he did. 

and once he finds stories like these, he doesn’t stop reading them. doesn’t stop finding himself and eliott in countless different characters, reading about people like him finding happiness, finding love.
