Been back to a normal schedule for a few days now, I suppose, but it still feels like I’m behind somehow. Thankfully I got to make not just one, but two new genies today, so that’s helped a bit to set my mind at ease. These two come in a pair as well, fitting nicely into a sort of Hatfield-McCoy type situation.

Forgive the Italian-printing above, it was the best image I could find online. This is the second half of the Serendib pair of genies, and if I’m being honest, the one of the two farthest from the idea the original card evokes. Still, I think it’s hard to capture the idea of losing life because you control a creature, so I think I did okay.

So leading into this card, I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I feared making a devil whose whole thing was “throwing stones”... and then suddenly I remembered the yugoloths. And from there, I was struck with a great idea on how to make this creature fun, by combining the darkness spell with the magic stone cantrip.

And there we are, that’s it! The very last card from Arabian Nights. And it comes with a fun little reference to every Magic player’s favorite spirit dragon. ;) So now that this is done, like Dominaria, I need to get the Compenidium done. Unlike Dominaria, even though this set is totally done, it’s Compendium is much shorter and so it should take a lot less time as well (hopefully).
