And if you don’t have enough social graces to realize that hitting on someone in the middle of an interview is wrong, you should maybe consider going into a profession where basic human decency is not a prerequisite.

Ehhhhh I want my energy back. and I want to not be weirdly jet-lagged. and I want to not be tired and feeling like complete shit. 

And maybe, one day, I'll get to be the person I hope to be now.

It's going to be so weird going back to campus on Monday. Over the past few days, I've met some truly amazing and intellectual people, tackling get important questions in science and in medicine. Meeting my fellow applicants and other professors for the first time showed me how much I still have to grow to become a scientist and to approach medicine in a thoughtful/methodological manner (but I guess that's what an MSTP program is for, eh?). Throughout the interview, I nearly burst into hysterics a few times because everyone was so smart and impressive. I don't know if I could even match up with the intellectual rigor of my peers and future mentors. I feel like I have so much to grow before I start next year some place. But instead of the panic, I reminded myself that I am here, and I have a chance to undergo the intellectual growth that I need to tackle the great scientific questions of our day. I'm an intellectual fetus right now. Maybe with the right direction in the next months, I can become the baby I need to be to start on my journey in biochemistry.
