🌍 A Secret I’ve Been Keeping
Sometimes the biggest dreams start out as whispers—soft, fragile, and not ready to be shared with the world. Abby and I have been holding on to one of those dreams, nurturing it in quiet moments and late-night conversations.
We’re planning to move to Spain, at least we're trying to.
It still feels surreal to type those words. Moving across the ocean isn’t just a vacation plan—it’s a complete shift in the way we live. It means leaving behind the familiar streets of Kentucky, the places we’ve built routines, and even some of the people we love most. But it also means chasing a life that feels more us.
Why Spain?
Spain has been calling to us in a way that’s hard to explain. The culture, the language, the food, the slower pace of life—it all feels like an invitation to breathe deeper. We want mornings filled with café con leche at small corner cafés, afternoons wandering through old cobblestone streets, and evenings sitting in plazas watching the world pass by.
Abby plans to teach English, and I’ll bring my photography with me, capturing Spain’s light, colors, and everyday magic. Together, we’ll build a new rhythm—one we’ve been dreaming of.
So here's the Plan (So Far)
📅 Timeline: September 2026 is the goal.
📑 Paperwork: Visas, health insurance, and all the bureaucracy that comes with starting fresh in a new country.
🧳 Downsizing: Slowly, painfully, but necessarily letting go of the things we don’t truly need. (First yard sale is next weekend)
💬 Language: Practicing Spanish daily so that when we land, we can embrace life without hiding behind translations.
🏠 Home: We’re still deciding where in Spain we’ll begin—maybe the coast, maybe the heart of a city—but we know it will feel like adventure no matter what.
The Secret Side
For now, this is just between us. It feels too fragile to broadcast widely. Dreams this big need to be protected until they’re ready to stand on their own.
But writing it here makes it feel a little more real. One day soon, this won’t be a secret anymore. One day, we’ll look back on this quiet moment and smile, knowing this was the very beginning of our next chapter. For now, only strangers on the internet get to know our secrets.
