You might implement a stop-loss order if you are working to a strict budget. This avoids the risk of the market dropping below a level you can’t afford. Make sure to obtain your digital certificate to ensure a seamless transition to this relatively efficient new system. What exactly is a digital certificate? Your virtual ID, the digital certificate streamlines online interactions with government agencies. While traditional paperwork involves physical visits and signatures, this online counterpart verifies your identity and digitally signs documents, all with a simple click. In a world where online transactions and communications dominate, having a digital certificate is akin to having a virtual passport for navigating the digital bureaucracy efficiently. It acts as your secure gateway to conduct various official processes, eliminating the need for in-person visits to government offices. Who can obtain a Digital Private Individual Certificate? Online application for your Certificate. At the end of the application process, you will receive an Application Code in your email account. Identity accreditation with Video Identification. Once you have completed the previous phase and you are in possession of your Request Code. Then you get a reference number. You print it out and get an appointment at one of the collaborating offices. Relocating from the UK to Spain, with its promise of a new lifestyle, is an enticing prospect for many. However, amidst the excitement lies a significant financial consideration – the Spanish Capital Gains Tax.  Navigating the complexities of relocating from the UK to Spain involves foresight, particularly concerning tax implications. Let's illustrate this with a scenario: Consider a hypothetical family, the Reynolds, who decided to sell their UK home and move to Spain. They sold their property in February 2024 for £800,000, which they originally purchased for £400,000 in 1980, resulting in a profit of £400,000. They plan to move to Spain in May 2024. As a result, they will become tax residents of Spain by spending more than 183 days in the country in 2024.  Hence they would be subject to Spanish capital gains tax on the profit from the sale of their UK property. This tax, ranging between 19% and 26%, would translate to a substantial bill, approximately €112,000, due in 2025. To mitigate this tax burden, strategic planning becomes paramount. Remember, the Spanish tax year runs from January 1st to December 31st. So, by delaying their move until the summer of 2024, thereby avoiding spending 183 days in Spain that year, the Reynolds could maintain their UK tax residency status for the 2024 tax year. Consequently, they would circumvent the Spanish capital gains tax entirely, resulting in significant savings. Though postponing their relocation might entail inconveniences such as arranging short-term rentals or staying with family, the long-term financial benefits far outweigh these temporary challenges.  Hence consideration of timing about the best time to sell your UK home before moving to Spain is crucial to optimize tax outcomes.

How to Apply for a Digital Nomad Visa for Spain

In this post we are going to show you how to apply for a Digital Nomad Visa for moving to Spain. If you meet the requirements and are organised, you can quite easily apply for your own visa. Applying for a Digital Nomad Visa, using experienced professionals, is a safe option but it can also be expensive! As this visa is relatively new, there are still many uncertainties. However, as with most Spanish paperwork, mistakes can be costly!  If you are going to pay a professional, ensure they have the relative experience.

Before deciding if you should apply for your own visa, check you can provide the following:

- Copy of all pages of a valid non-EU passport - Work contract with an existing client of over 3 months, who is a registered business, that has been operating for more than 12 months (subject to being employed or self employed). - Bank statement showing the last 3 months' payments from clients/employer - An official document to prove that the client company has been operating for more than 12 months  - A letter from the client company authorizing the work to be carried out in Spain - Documentary evidence of qualifications or relative experience (minimum 3 years) for the work to be carried out. - Applicants CV, translated into Spanish. - Social security documentation. (subject to being employed or self-employed). - Private health insurance policy (Optional subject to circumstances)  - Official Criminal Background Check Document - Declaration of a clear criminal background in the countries where you have been resident in the last 5 years.
