🗓️Throwback Thursday (19 years ago – the ‘Small Boobies Era’)

Sitting here, I realize that the climb wasn't about conquering the mountain, but about shedding everything that weighed me down on the way up.

Fungi, as a rule, need moisture and warmth. That is why most of the ones I know live in forests, sheltered from heat and flooding — and this is quite natural, as it is called mycorrhiza, the symbiotic connection between trees and fungi.

But the mountain peak, blown by winds and scorched by the southern sun, seems a most unsuitable place for mushrooms. Except for Vittadini's lepidella (lat. Amanita vittadinii), whose mycelium endures all hardships and awakens with the coming of the rains🌿🍄

Stepping into a serene, sun-drenched winter wonderland. ✨ The fresh snow-covered path winds gently between frost-kissed trees and rustic fences, leading toward distant, majestic mountains. Pure, quiet, and magical. 🌨️🌲✨
