Some fields keep the city at a polite distance. In #Middelpolder, the horses do the practical work: grazing and drinking from the canal.

The water is busy, the duck is not. A closeup #MallardDuck folds, preens, and floats through blue ripples, with that little curled tail doing more than it needs to.

From Loch Lomond to Skye and Glencoe, this last Scotland post keeps the water calm, the mountains heavy, and the road doing what roads do: moving on.

Not every Highland story needs one postcard town. In the #ScottishHighlands, Portree, Mallaig, Broadford, Pitlochry, & Inverness pass by as colour, stone, harbours, old roofs, and quiet streets.

Loch Lochy in the Great Glen sits below the ridge before the water has finished copying it.

Some places do not need to shout. The old stone, carved crosses and dark rooflines of Saint Mary and Saint Finnan #Church carry their own quiet weight, with the #ScottishHighlands standing behind them like a witness.

The mountain keeps its shape simple, but the surface does not. On #BenMore in the southern #ScottishHighlands, dry grass, dark gullies, snow patches & blocks of evergreen forest break up the slopes.

In #GlenBrittle on the #IsleofSkye, the natural pools and waterfalls were already doing enough, so long exposure images can wait until tomorrow.

#EileanDonan, a 13th Century #Castle in the #ScottishHighlands by #LochDuich, the stone bridge, dark walls, hills & reflections do the talking without behaving too neatly.

The historic Eas-nan-Arm Bridge spans the River Shiel in Glen Shiel, #ScottishHighlands, a narrow road, bare trees, mossy rocks, & low mist keep everything quiet without making it pretty on purpose.

At #LochCluanie in the #ScottishHighlands brown hills, snow patched peaks, & shoreline trees sit above their own #reflections, with the loch quietly refusing to pick a side.

At #TheHermitage in #Scotland, the river kept dragging white lines over dark rock and moss, so I let the movement do the talking.
