I fucking LOVE motion controls. I DON'T CARE if Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword was super janky, I LOVED swinging the sword around. I LOVED the Mario Galaxy levels where you're balancing on a ball with MOTION CONTROLLS and have to navigate through levels.
I fucking LOVE gimmicks

I am fully willing to admit this is my own nostalgia, but there was something magical about every game developer for the Wii and early mobile games pushing those platforms to their limits.
Some of the games I am most nostalgic for are just random throw together mobile games that required you to spin your phone to make work.
On the 3DS, Nintendo just gave you a bunch of free games using AR and motion control features, i’d love to see the mid 2000’s group of interns working at nintendo who came up with face raiders.
Would I ever give up the current gaming landscape to go back to that? no probably not (maybe i’d give up the current mobile game landscape), but it does feel like something has been lost from that era that I wouldn’t mind coming back.

Motion Control - "Organic Storm" Arctic Circles: A Selection of Sub Zero Soundscapes 1997 IDM
OK, it's time for me to start frigid-posting, folks. If temps are gonna be this historically low, then I guess I should write about some music that has the proper vibe to match it. So here's a little gem from a duo out of Bergen, Norway called Motion Control. Forming themselves out of an ambient trio called Neural Network, Motion Control's mission was to be more rhythmic in their productions, and here they've got some placidly psychedelic IDM for us, with an exclusive by the name of "Organic Storm" that appeared on northern Norwegian label Beatservice Records' 1997 compilation, Arctic Circles: A Selection of Sub Zero Soundscapes.
