6) Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?

I never had it happen where I loved a pairing and later hated it because of the fandom, but I have recently been disinterested in a pairing and then ended up specifically avoiding it because I have negative association with some of the fans. It’s kinda shitty, because I try to remain open to all pairings and I like it when a fan writer or artist can sell me on a relationship I didn’t care about previously.  I just now have to work past that opening “ugh” feeling and I’m not always up for that.

The pairing is for Steven Universe, FYI, and I’ll answer which one in private ‘cause shipping wars.

7) Is there anything you used to like, but now can’t stand?

…. hm, kinda.  I was super in Bleach when it was first coming out and I still have a fondness for the original arc, but I’m really dead on anything that came out after that.

8) Unpopular opinion about [insert fandom here]?

Gosh, ok.  I really didn’t like Transformers: Animated.

It had some great elements and moments.  Sari, as a whole, the characterization of Megatron, that “Starscream dies over and over” joke, Optimus being just a repair guy, some deep moral issues — seriously a ton of potential, but I didn’t enjoy the show as a whole.  Too many characters didn’t change or grow, there was too much reliance on them being stupid to move forward the plot, everything about Bulkhead being treated as the dumb fat guy (and half-assed attempts to mitigate it), Bumblebee never internalizing or acting on a single lesson the narrative handed him… yeah.

“Yes.”

Ha ha. But in all seriousness, yes. I mean, according to Meririum-Webster we’ve got two definitions:

“The things that someone or something will experience in the future”

In which case yes, because everyone will experience something of some sort in the future and know about it before hand (”I’m going on vacation and I’m going to see coconut trees!” And then you go on vacation and see coconut trees. Destiny!) and the other one is:

“a power that is believed to control what happens in the future”

As I believe in an omnipotent God & savior who controls everything, yes, I believe in that part of the definition, too.

Although I’m also pretty strong on the “People shouldn’t know their own future” front, so while I believe in Destiny as stated above, I don’t particularly want to know what it is, either. It’s hard to live your best every day if you’re worrying too much about whether or not you’re following a set/right path, or don’t worry enough because “It’s destiny; it’ll happen no matter what I do.”

Probably the Crudelis Lux Kingdom Hearts AU. It’s, uh...

It all began when Ansem the Wise was a young man, and became aware of the existence of other worlds – and how so many had problems with Darkness. Proud of his world’s strength, he sought to share it with others, and was rejected.

It didn’t take the king long to decide that if the worlds wouldn’t accept his help, he would make them.

Yeah.

M. Got any premises on the back burner that you'd care to share?

Just defining this as stuff I haven’t even taken a stab at writing notes for, because wow, I have a lot of things at various stages of in-progress.

- Overwatch: Mail call with the modern Overwatch. Genji has several very discreetly-wrapped packages where the customs form just says art object.

- Overwatch: My own take on Talon!Hanzo, which will probably involve a lot of Genji murdering people.

- League of Legends: the Voidpocalypse.

- Overwatch/League of Legends crossover. Proooobably not happening, but it amuses me a lot. (Everyone loves Reinhardt, especially the Freljord. He is like Braum! Reaper likes Nocturne and Fiddlesticks; Fiddlesticks thinks he’s adorable, the way we tend to think of kittens as adorable. Hanzo/Yasuo. Hanzo and Yasuo’s boyfriends separating them because, wow, no, you two are terrible for each other. Mercy throwing up her hands in frustration at hextech “science”. Winston being fascinated. Zenyatta and Karma debating and talking and being amazing. Zenyatta helping Syndra deal with her mental issues. Shen being moderately uncomfortable when he finds out the Shimada brothers’ story.)

N. Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?

Well, there’s always the YJ Clex fic Rin began once upon a time that I periodically cry at her about. I accept it will never be finished, but it makes me sad.
