After going on a lot of roller coasters recently I feel like Disney has an opportunity to do the coolest thing and utilize the employee locker rooms from Monsters Inc in the new Monstropolis coaster to have a great diegetically themed space. I don't recall any coaster or thrill ride having a narratively sound reason for lockers existing within the setting, so this would be cool to see!

This is all assuming the Monsters Inc coaster would need lockers, which to me seems likely given the suspended train elements.

Walt Disney Imagineering Unveils Storyline Details For "Monstropolis" Land At Disney's Hollywood Studios, Harryhausen's Restaurant As Part Of The Area.

Monstropolis, a new themed land inspired by Pixar Animation Studios "Monsters, Inc." coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios has revealed additional details on what we can expect in this new land.

The land will revolve around HUMAN Day, a citywide celebration that will bring humans into the world of monsters for the first time. This change has led to what is described within the city as a “historic decision.” For the first time, the leaders are preparing to open the gates between the worlds, inviting humans to experience Monstropolis. To make this new chapter possible, the city has established the Department of Human Relations, a newly formed team dedicated to helping monsters and humans better understand each other and preparing the city for this first historic encounter. The celebration of HUMAN Day — Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice — serves as the backdrop for visitors' arrival in the world of monsters. Halfway between a celebration and a cultural exchange, humans are invited to explore Monstropolis, interact with its citizens, and experience the city firsthand, as monsters and humans come together through laughter instead of fear.

Imagineering also revealed that the famous Harryhausen will be part of the land as a brand new restaurant. Will they keep the story bit from "Monsters At Work" that revealed that Mike and Sulley where banned from attending? That remains to be seen...

As previously reported ICON Creative Studio will provide the animation for the land as they previously did the animation for "Monsters At Work". Imagineering has been working hard with the crews of Pixar Animation Studios and Disney Television Animation to bring this new land to life.

Can I just ramble about the Monsters Inc world building because I love it but I definitely don't think I would want to live in Monstropolis. It's a parody of a US American city but that also means it's a parody of a city that runs on capitalism. Monsters Inc feels vaguely dystopian. The concept art of Monstropolis has a heavy focus on rows of apartment complexes, huge bulky factory buildings blowing smog into the air. The grandiose feeling that Monster's Inc has. To say us huge is an understatement. It makes you feel so small. It makes me feel unsettled and that's why it's good art. It's beautifuly complex yet intimidating. It fascinates me in a way I cannot put into words. It's memorizing.

This is probably obvious, knowing how much I love Sulley and the Monsters universe as a whole, but.. you let me run around freely in Kingdom Hearts 3 and enter Monstropolis and I pretty much lose my marbles. I love a few other worlds in that game as well, but I think Monstropolis has to be my favorite. I used the Gummiphone's camera to take way too many photos all over the place. And when I started a new playthrough after a good few years, that was the one world I looked forward to the most.
