speaking of monoracial people not fucking knowing how to act around biracial people, i remember i was telling two monoracial friends about how my parents are both two different races, with one of them being brown and the other being white, and immediately they (without even really acknowledging what iād said beyond a lame utterance of,Ā āoh cool,ā) derailed the conversation into talking about white guys fetishizing and abusing woc.
you know how people talk about howĀ āthereās a time and a place for certain topics, and bringing them up in select situations, depending on prior context, can come off as weird and inappropriateā? yeah, that was that. white guys fetishizing woc in their relationships is a very real issue, but i feel like bringing said issue up right after i mention having a white father and a brown mother, whose relationship is healthy and leaves absolutely no room for fetishization, is... somewhat socially inept.
mind you i didnāt even get around to describing this relationship to them yet. i just said,Ā āyeah my dad is white and my mami is brownā. and of course, monoracial people being monoracial, their mind immediately jumped to the topic of fetishization, and they didnāt consider for one moment that in doing so, they indirectly implied to me that they believed the relationship between my different-race parents to be some weird kink, and not a legitimate and loving union.Ā
whereās the imaginary biracial-people club when you need it
