★ Mon-El Appreciation Week ★
↳ Day 7→ free choice: AU: Mon-El’s reason to go back to the present
Kara and Mon-El weren’t interrupted on Argo and they slept together. Kara doesn’t want to be selfish so she tells him he should go with Legion to save the future. Later she finds out she’s pregnant. Meanwhile, Mon-El saves the future and finds out Kara’s pregnant so he comes back to the time he left.

Mon El Appreciation Week - Day 7 Free choice
Free choice could only ever be the sincere hope that Mon El will return and also find his way back to Kara. Karamel needs to be endgame!
“No distance could ever tear us apart
There’s nothing that I wouldn’t do
I’ll find my way back to you”

“All I know is I was enchanted to meet you”
The Karamel love story really was enchanted!
Mon El Appreciation Week - Day 6 Favorite Quote
To be clear, I hated this scene! And there are so many great Mon El quotes and one-liners, especially in season 2.
But still the Mon El quote “In case you ever need me...” has to qualify as my current favorite quote as this is the open door to potentially bring back Mon El and Karamel at some point...

Mon-El Appreciation Week: Day 7: Free Choice
Mon-El and Earth pop/culture headcanons
* It was Alex who introduced him to Bon Jovi. I have a whole logic about this. Giant diatribe at that link.
* He has watched every episode of Grey's Anatomy. When he was new to Earth and living at (and still being carefully monitored by) the DEO, it was one of the few programs he was allowed. He likes Sloan, has a lot of sympathy for Avery, and doesn't really get why everyone is in to Derek (although later, he'll find some sympathy for that 'torn between two women' thing). He binge watched to catch up on seasons 13 and 14 after he came back from the future, and Imra got hooked on the show, too.
* He never read the end of Romeo and Juliet. After Kara tipped him off to the ending, the thought of it just made him sad. So as far as he's concerned, the story ends right about where they're planning to run off together and start a new life - just two people in love where anything is possible.
* His favorite Shakespeare is Hamlet.
* He's into Greek mythology. Pragmatist that he is, he thinks Icarus was kind of an idiot.
* Winn introduced him to karaoke and it became A Problem. (to enjoy the Monwinn karaoke disasters, which was basically just an excuse to search YouTube for videos of Jeremy and Chris singing, click here and here)
* He really likes Irish music. Also Cuban music, freeform jazz - anything loose and fun. It reminds him of the things he liked about Daxam. He used to dance a lot, you know.
* One night, Kara tried to teach him the macarena. Let us never speak of it.
* He cried watching Lilo and Stitch. Don't judge him. After his mother literally locked him in a cell and then his friends came after him and called him family, the "Family means no one gets left behind, or forgotten" line is a thing that gets him.
* He didn't 'get' Funny Face the first time he saw it, but smiled and nodded because Kara loves it. He secretly watched it on his own two or three more times trying to figure it out.
* He had just finished reading the Harry Potter series when, you know, the invasion happened and he had to flee and then got sucked through a wormhole. When he got back, he was pretty happy to get a chance to read some of the in-universe books, like Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. (Kara awkwardly offered to loan them to him shortly after he got back, because she figured he might need to pass the time, depending on how long it took to fix the broken ship. He came over to borrow and return them. It was the first time he’d been in her loft in seven years for him, or months for her.)
* After making his Back to the Future joke, he tries to explain the plot to a confused Brainy. Brainy doesn’t get it and wants to point out all the plotholes.
* He and Winn got to see The Last Jedi and Solo together when they were released in 2017 and 2018. When it looked like Mon-El might stick around in the 21st century, they were looking forward to seeing Episode IX (coming out in 2019). Winn can tell how miserable Mon-El is after they leave, so he suggests that they make a pact not to look the plot up in the future, but to wait and see it til they go home to visit - allegedly so they have something to look forward to, but also to give his friend some hope.
* While leaving the 21st century for the second time, he loaded the Legion cruiser with books to take back - because there are classics and history and stories that need to find a way to make their way back to society and culture; because there are stories he’s tried to share secondhand that he knows his friends will love (he thinks Preya will love Harry Potter, and smiles when he remembers that he’ll get to see her again), and because he feels like there are going to be a lot of long, sleepless nights. There’s one classic that he finds comforting and reads over and over. When Kara visits the 31st century (because she knows where to find him if she ever needs him), it’s always at his bedside, and by the time he comes home for good, it’s so dog-earned and well-worn it’s practically falling apart.

Love & Loyalty Aesthetic “Imra and I have a, uh... complicated history. We didn't exactly choose to get married to one another. So, she's from this important family, uh, on Titan. And Titan was the head of this faction of planets that were very against Earth and its allies. So, in the early days of the Legion, we needed to do something... symbolic. You know, to show that we represented everyone.
And I was still mourning Kara. Imra and I were friends and... and partners, and I was fond of her. I respected her. But I knew that marrying Imra would help so many. It just... it seemed like the logical thing to do. And then, with time, I mean, I... our pretend marriage became more real and our feelings deepened, and... and I... I grew to love her. I was content. But with Kara, I mean...
There was nothing logical about falling in love with Kara.”
