Andie has a portrait of her mother on her bedside table, but in another scene of the movie, it disappears (before her father, Jack, puts it away in a drawer). I believe Andie spends a lot of time looking at that photo, wondering whether she should feel longing, resentment, or nothing at all toward her mother but I’m certain she would never want to be like her! It’s a shame John Hughes didn’t explore that aspect more.

The year is 1993! Andie Walsh and Blane McDonnagh are still married; Andie is building her own clothing brand, while Blane is a businessman who has just entered the workforce

"Dreams" by The Cranberries is playing in Andie's studio when Blane arrives with coffee for both of them! It symbolizes the dreams they are finally building in their life together 🤧
