Hello! I’m trying to figure out some things about myself and DPDR fits almost all of my symptoms, but the issue is, I have literally zero trauma. Well, I have trauma but not *TRAUMA*, nothing enough to cause DPDR, I don’t think. But this seems like it would make so much sense! I don’t know, I just wanted to get some semblance of an explanation to the question, “Can someone develop DPDR without extreme trauma?”
-Thank you!
Hey anon! You have enough trauma to cause DPDR. You have enough trauma to cause dissociation. "Extreme trauma" is such a vague term that it's borderline useless.
Not only is there no way to rate and rank trauma (as everyone reacts to trauma so differently that the same experience can be another Tuesday or life-ending to different people), but there is especially no way to rate if your trauma is "enough" to warrant something.
You are reacting this way, yes? Then it was enough.
