You’re right about one thing: The only argument anyone has against MOGAI is that they think it “makes the community look like a joke.” My rebuttal to that? So fucking what!? The purpose of this community is for similar people with similar experiences to band together. It’s not about what people outside the community think. It’s not about trying to make ourselves conform to society’s standards of what we should be. In fact, it’s the express opposite of that.

We’re supposed to be banding together, defending each other, and telling the rest of the world “fuck you, this is who we are, and we’re not going to change because you say we need to. We’re not going to conform to what you think we should be. We are who we are, and nothing is going to change that!”MOGAI is trans. We can’t be hurting the community because we’re part of it! The community is there specifically for people like us. To support each other! To defend each other! To listen to each other and understand each other! Just because someone’s experience with their gender differs from the “socially accepted binary experience” doesn’t mean you can just kick them out! “Oh, well, we got our acceptance. So we don’t need your help anymore. Good luck on your own.”

Saying MOGAI hurts the trans community because society accepts us less is just like saying trans women hurt the lgbt+ community because society accepts them less than trans men or gay people. And, you know, there are people out there who think like that, anon. Do you want to be like them? Because if not, maybe you should think critically about the arguments you come across.
