What frustrates me about episodes like Volpina or Chameleon is that they don't really portray Marinette as the badass, hella smart girl that she is.
Marinette's canonically a super smart girl, and the "lucky charm vision" is only there to explain her train of thought, meaning she comes up with all the solutions to defeat a villain herself. The same goes with her civilian identity, she was clever enough to put a secret signature in her designs to prove they were hers (and she didn't even know Chloé would try to steal them!) or to create a safe place to put her diary in.
And yet, everytime Lila has screentime, all that intelligence and wit suddenly vanish! She's actually sharper when Lila's akumatised instead of when she's just a mere girl!
Think about it, in Volpina, the best solution she came up with to get rid of her was harshly calling her out (which backfire since a) Lila became a serious threat and b) she ended up being the one who was scolded by Adrien), in Catalyst she used the Internet to expose Lila, and she only found something that was, admittedly, not very hard to cover up with another lie. And in Chameleon, every idea she had only resulted in her as the bad guy.
Seriously, where's all that wit when you really need it?
“There is only one statue that drives this compass crazy.”
Alya, (more or less) : Oh, please, Marinette! The only reason you're mad at Lila is because she tried to woo Adrien!
Me: Please, Alya. This is between Marinette, Lila and the fandom. Leave your extremely on point opinions out of it.
