I was always insecure physically but when I moved here it was amplified. I was โexoticโ but an object, at least thatโs how I felt. I never felt that back home, not one Japanese person had ever asked to touch my hair or ask why I was so black or dark and was #mixed, or why my hair was so kinky if I was half. Iโve learned ignorance doesnโt discriminate & people donโt know boundaries. But thankfully I was raised in my cultures equally my dad always made sure we knew how we got our last name our roots our history. My mother always embraced our features and made sure we knew how proud she was of her โBlack daughtersโ because she knew the world would see us as just that until we spoke up. #Beingmixed sometimes feels like a trend, sometimes weโre in, some mixes better than others and whoโs more #exotic.โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ โ November is #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth!
