Okay so kinda thinking I want different timelines for Monny on this blog but idrk how to tag everything so here’s the gist of what would be going on -

Timeline 1 - main timeline, 6 months-1.5 years after the titan war/Battle of Manhattan.

Monroe’s on the run from CHB, the remnants of the Titans Army, etc. and trying to make their way to Vancouver to maybe stay with Frank’s folks (or if that doesn’t work, they’d head up to Haida Gwaii or the Yukon to seek help from the nature spirits that knew their grandma).

Basically their time on the road -> trying to avoid demigods and monsters -> working odd jobs to pay for food/busses -> not using drachma or the like to avoid alerting demigods and monsters to their location

Timeline 2 - Little Monny (like, 2-3 years before PJO even started until midway through Sea of Monsters when they defect to the Titan Army)

Basically this is just their first years at camp, sending letters to Frank, hanging out with folks at camp and bumming around the Hermes cabin because they’re unclaimed af. Happy, awkward, kinda sad Monny. This is basically the main time when they’re at CHB

Timeline 3 - Titans Army (Halfway through Sea of Monsters to the end of the Battle of Manhattan)

Monroe’s working pretty closely with the Titan Army, they’re not uber close with Luke but they talk from time to time. They mostly hang out with other demigods (mostly Ethan) and some of the monsters. Their main thing is helping train new recruits and recon. as well as trying to recruit nature spirits to their side.

Timeline 4 - Camp Jupiter (Basically just before Frank leaves for Camp Jupiter - onwards)

They’ve been staying with Frank or something, when his mom dies and he leaves for Camp Jupiter. They go with him, not as a full legionnaire but as an unclaimed legacy of a dryad. Basically they’re on permanent probatio status. Not sure if they’d play a part in the prophecy of 7 or not, but I’m good with anything.

I think that as a child Monroe struggled a lot with anima — the concept of non-living objects having souls. All kids form attachments to stuffed animals, lucky objects, clothes, but it was different for Monroe. Everything, from the forks in their kitchen to twigs in the woods to single-use pencils had some fort of soul.

The difficult part was that they know these things aren’t alive. They know that they shouldn’t feel guilty about passing on books, or showing preference for foods or toys for fear of offending the object, but they do. And this habit follows them as they grow up, to the point that it’s almost a hoarding mindset. It’s not just that there’s guilt in throwing away that can, but that they can justify keeping it because ‘what if it’s useful later?’.

They never address the issue, but their bag accumulates a bit more weight each day. A twig, a can, a candy wrapper. Memories and guilt and the hope that this time they’ll be prepared for whatever’s coming.

I was angry — you know what that was like, don’t you? The uncertainty, the danger, the helplessness? Maybe if I’d been older I’d have made a better choice, but I can’t go back anymore than you can. I can’t save them, I can’t stop what happened.

But wouldn’t you have done the same? If it had been one of yours? He asked me to go, and I had to. That was practically my brother, you know what family means to me.

So I’ve left New York, I’ve gone out west — back home. Don’t come looking, don’t ask my folks’. I’m staying with an old friend and his grandmother on the mainland, and I won’t cause you or the camp any trouble. Just […] just forget you ever met me. Tell Chiron or whoever’s running things after the shit show in manhattan that I’m dead.
