Year 1900 - John Smith, nicknamed "The Doctor", is a brilliant scientist working at Cambridge University, widely regarded as one of the finest minds of his time. Since he was a young student, he has been consumed by an obsession to defeat death. When his brutal secret experiments on live animals come to light, the university chooses to expel him rather than report him, wanting to avoid a scandal and protect its reputation. Banished from the academic world, he retreats to a small villa in Essex to finish his immortality machine in secret. The only person left by his side is Melissa "Missy" Sax, his childhood friend and work assistant who is secretly in love with him. Driven by her feelings, she agrees to serve as his first human test subject. But during activation, the machine overloads: the capacitors collapse and the massive voltage kills John on the spot, while the core's implosion traps Missy in a temporal limbo, freezing her just a moment before her death.
Year 2026 - Clara Oswald, a young English teacher at Coal Hill, unexpectedly inherits the Essex villa from a late uncle, a house that has remained sealed since the turn of the century. Thrilled by the thought of finally having a place of her own, Clara moves in and finds the interiors remarkably intact, including a large music room with a grand piano marked with a mysterious "M". Sadly, the peace doesnβt last long: the house soon begins to manifest unsettling paranormal phenomena, from flickering lights to doors slamming on their own. One night, drawn by a melancholic melody, Clara enters the music room and finds herself face to face with a middle aged woman in a purple Victorian dress, intent on playing. Once the initial shock wears off, Missy reveals her story and bizarre situation as a "ghost" and orders her to leave. Clara flatly refuses to give up her new home, triggering a bitter domestic war between them, filled with furious arguments, endless bickering and petty pranks. To break the stalemate, the two rivals strike a deal: Clara will help Missy repair the Doctor's machine to reverse its effect and finally free her from the limbo, on the condition that Missy stops making her life a living hell during their forced coexistence. This deal brings them together over long days and nights spent deciphering the Doctor's cryptic diaries and trying to fix the machine. Over time, they learn how to appreciate each otherβs company. Their initial mutual hate turns into an unexpected chemistry, leaving both women to face feelings that risk ruining all their original plans.
The Doctor receives a mysterious letter. Inside, he finds a fancy looking note: it's from Missy, kindly inviting him to a dinner. The Doctor is skeptic at first, but decides that if Missy is still alive and managed to contact him it is best to go and check if she is up to something bad. On the note are written some coordinates that reveal Missy's Tardis' location. Missy cheerfully welcomes the Doctor in, explaining him that she wanted to apologise for the events on Skaro by cooking him a fancy dinner.
The dinner takes place in an elegant dining room not too far from the control room. The dishes are served in three courses: a first course, a second course and a dessert, all very proudly cooked by Missy.
First course: Smoked Carnaroli risotto with braised veal ossobuco reduction.
During the first course, the Doctor, still skeptic about the invite, tries to find out the real purpose of the dinner and to unveil one of Missy's eventual secret plans. Not successful, he surrenders and tries to relax, enjoying the nice dinner with his oldest frenemy. They mainly talk about their time at the academy, almost acting like normal childhood friends for a while.
Second course: Ash-crusted venison medallion with red wine and blackberry reduction.
During the second course Missy brings up Skaro, unexpectedly apologising for what she did to Clara. She wanted to apologise to her in person but the Doctor found Clara's phone unreachable and couldn't bring her with him - she was probably busy with school work anyway. They end up talking about Clara a lot: Missy decides to tell him how and why she specifically chose her for him, while the Doctor tells her about some of their best adventures.
After minutes that felt like hours, they both hear a voice coming down the corridor, complaining about the loud noise. The voice comes closer and closer until someone enters the dining room: it's Clara. The girl, very much alive, looks like she just woke up. Her hair is a total mess, and sheβs wearing nothing but shorts and an oversized shirt. Some bite marks are lining her neck and faded lipstick stains smudging her face. The Doctor, relieved that Clara is alive, stares eyes wide at her state while she flushes red. They both turn in shock toward Missy, who proudly gazes at the result of her perfectly planned prank.
During one of her mischievous adventures, Missy accidentally touches a rare, dangerous plant on a black-market planet. The pollen is a lethal aphrodisiac effective on almost any species - a secret tool usually bought by dictators to force obedience and control mating. Once exposed, the victim must mate, or the high toxicity will slowly kill them from the inside. Unwilling to waste a regeneration on something so absurd, the Time Lady decides to act. Calling the Doctor is out of the question, she would rather die than show herself in this state to her archenemy. Having ruled out every other option, she resorts to her final, desperate choice: Clara Oswald. As the effects begin to kick in, she quickly puts some coordinates into her vortex manipulator. She materializes inside a quiet flat where Clara is buried under a pile of homework to mark. Focused on her work, Clara misses the intrusion until a heavy thud echoes from the living room. Alarmed, she goes to investigate, only to find a very familiar Time Lady collapsed on the floor, panting, flushed and with her pupils dilated to the edge of the irises. Clinging to the last shreds of her sanity, Missy quickly explains her the situation to the girl standing in front of her, and demands help. Clara stands frozen, utterly incredulous. Yet, looking down at the normally untouchable Time Lady in such a raw, vulnerable state, and realising of being the one Missy trusted enough to turn to, she makes her choice and decides to help her. Smut ensues~

So fun fact both 12 and Missy said "Clara, my Clara." Yeah no I'm fine about that. No I don't think that means anything. Totally. Not at all indicative of the worlds worst throuple. My babies <3
from time to time i get despondent remembering that twissyclara were never a TARDIS team. they never really travelled together for fun. sure, missy was always haunting twelve and claraβs narrative since she was their matchmakerβ¦ but apart from the magicianβs apprentice/the witchβs familiar, a story in which they were split up and separated almost immediately; and dark water/death in heaven, a story in which missy was outwardly jealous and antagonistic towards clara, they never properly interacted as a trio. missy casually travelled with bill and twelve on the actual TARDIS towards the end of her redemption period, as evinced by the eaters of light and the empress of mars β¦ there was no such development during claraβs tenure. through all of series nine post-skaro, missy was absent. an absence is a kind of presence, of course. but itβs still a shame they never got the chance to just hang out in space and time
