What if.....hear me out. The Master is a Lich and used the Doctor to hold their heart.
Changing the entire meaning when Missy says her heart is maintained by the Doctor.
And what if they did this when they were very young. Like 2ed or 3ed recognition.
By the time Delgado reunites with the Doctor they don't mind dying. So killing the Doctor (theoretically anyway) would mean his freedom.
Not only do they not want to kill the Doctor because of their own feelings. But ultimately it would be the end of them.
But they have been able to conquer so much that the idea of being able to end themselves by ending the Doctor becomes some crazy thrill they can't explain.
