Title: You Were Mine
Pairing: Soonhoon (Soonyoung x Jihoon)
Length: 4,027 words
Summary: Soonyoung and Jihoon are in a long-distance relationship but theyâre trying to make the most out of it until they see each other again. If they ever do.
A/N: For Soonhoon fic fest round 1! Thanks to all of the admins and other writers who made this fest possible! ; v ;
Soonyoungâs nap was abruptly interrupted when he gasped for air with a yelp, feeling a large weight was dropped onto his stomach as he was lying down on the couch. His eyes opened immediately as he let out a loud yelp and looked to see his roommate, Junhui, smile and wave at him.
âMorning.â Junhui smiled. âPackage.â
He watched his friend casually walk into the kitchen after dropping what felt like a shitload of bricks upon his esophagus. Soonyoung groaned as he slowly sat up, a bit lightheaded from such a sudden wake-up call, but he managed as he adjusted his position on the loveseat and leaned against the back cushion as he looked at the box. He smiled to himself.
Jihoon always knew what to pack inside his packages for Soonyoung. For such a small package, it was tightly arranged with various knick-knacks that Soonyoung would love collecting from local craft stores near Jihoon. There were a dozen of his favourite snacks as well, Jihoon knew how much Soonyoung snacked during his intense work sessions. And, last but not least, Jihoon had an envelope.
This was a monthly routine. Soonyoung and Jihoon always sent packages to each other, including a letter with an update on whatâs been happening since the last package they sent. Thatâs how these two worked out their long-distance relationship.
Soonyoung was leaning against the kitchen counter of his shared two-bed, one-bath apartment with Junhui as he teared the envelope open and unfolded the letter and began to read Jihoonâs neatly written cursive handwriting. He smiled, reading about his love ranting about how the weather is just as bad as last monthâs letter with how much rain was pouring. Jihoon said that he was doing fine, continuing his workload afar and still striving for that dream of becoming the best music producer in the entertainment industry. Soonyoung gasped when Jihoon mentioned he wrote a little song on a disc in the package and he immediately ran back to the living room to fetch the CD case.
It was a bit old-fashioned, especially since Jihoon could easily just send an email or a text to check up on Soonyoung or send the music he created, but they considered this much more intimate and made their exchanges just all that more special. Soonyoung inserted the disc into his laptop and played the one track on the list. He immediately squealed and covered his mouth when he heard Jihoonâs soothing voice, blushing when Junhuiâs snickers could be heard from the other room.
Jihoon wasnât too confident with his voice, but Soonyoung believed he had the voice of an angel. From the time he first heard it when he was dragged to that one corner cafe by Junhui, the moment Jihoon opened his mouth on the makeshift stage during his open mic performance, Soonyoung knew Jihoon would leave an impact on his life.
The song was short and sweet, much like the composer himself. There was a slight blush on the dancerâs cheeks when he heard that Jihoon wishes that they would meet up soon, making his heart skip a beat. Soonyoung wasnât much of a composer, but there are times where he fiddles around on his laptop until the break of dawn and it turns into something catchy thatâs worth of being recorded onto his music program which he then burns onto a CD and sends to Jihoon.
What Soonyoung recorded that night wasnât much of a song but a promise. A promise that it wouldnât be too long until theyâre back together again where theyâll make up for all of their lost time. It would be a month until he sent it though as he still had to collect and gather other things for Jihoon over the course of the four weeks. He also still had to write a letter of updates that have been happening, but, honestly, Soonyoung is impatient and head over heels for Jihoon that he couldnât help but send it the next day.
He sent the CD, his mediocre and cheesy snippet of a song, in the mail and texted Jihoon that something was coming his way. Soonyoung was snuggling under his bed and giggling when Jihoon said that he was messing up the whole packaging system they had.
âWe spent eight months mailing packages back and forth,â Jihoon typed out, âand yet you canât wait âtil the end of this month to send a CD?â
âItâs not my fault!â Soonyoung replied back. âI had inspiration from my muse.â
Jihoon rolled his eyes while his cheeks grew warm. âWell, your muse isnât amused.â
âOh, you really wanted to use that pun, I know you did!â Soonyoung giggled and pulled the blanket over his shoulder more as he shivered. He still wasnât used to a bed for one nor the lack of shared body heat under the sheets. âI canât help that I miss you.â
âI miss you too,â Jihoon sighed. âI still canât believe you tried to hop on the train with me when I left.â
Soonyoung laughed lightly. âYou still remember that?â
âIâm pretty sure everyone at the train station remembered that blond guy who kept trying to jump onto the train pulling at my arm while the station workers kept pulling him off as the train started to move.â
âWell, can you blame me? I never thought that you had to leave my side.â
It took a while for those words to register into Jihoonâs cognizance. He took a deep, shaky breath and shook his head. âI didnât either.â
âBut you got the opportunity of a lifetime, how can I pull you from that?â Soonyoung rubbed his eyes the second he felt them grow watery. âI can manage. Your contract is four years, right?â
âYeah, and the first year is going pretty well. You only have two years left, right?â
âIndeed!â Soonyoung giggled. âWe can do this until then, I donât mind.â
âI still love you and no distance can change that.â
âWhoa, Jihoonââ
âSorry, my lyrical side got the best of me.â
âNo, donât be sorry. I like this side of you.â The taller one hummed as he nuzzled into his pillow while yawning. âI love you too.â
â
âJihoon! Jihoon! Oh gosh, weâre gonna be late for the train!â Soonyoung panicked as he started shaking the shorter one. He saw how the other was in a deep sleep and Soonyoung squealed as he checked the time and pulls the blanket off, Jihoon groaning in response. Believing that would wake him up, Soonyoung who was rushing to the door looked behind and saw that Jihoon was curled up in a ball on the mattress, fast asleep once more.
Soonyoung whined to himself. Jihoon was the one who was leaving and yet he wasnât worried about missing his train. He left to room, Jihoon peaking his eye open and smiling to himself as he snuggled into his pillow and hummed happily.
Suddenly, the door burst open, slamming into the wall and almost knocking the scattered cans of cola on the dresser off and onto the floor. Soonyoung turned the dial on his speaker to the maximum volume and adjusted the strap of Jihoonâs electric on his shoulder before he played a horribly out-of tune G chord. Jihoon immediately shot his eyes open and fell onto the floor, sprawled within the blanket while struggling.
He looked up with disheveled hair and a deathly gaze as he covered his ears, hoping that his ears wonât be damaged from the horrendous noise. âSoonyoung!â he yelled, grunting when he noticed that Soonyoung couldnât hear him as he tried to attempt to play an F chord afterward. Thankful that he soundproofed the walls before they both moved in, Jihoon stood up and unplugged the amplifier from the outlet, Soonyoung whining.
âHey, I was doing pretty well!â
âYeah, wrecking my eardrums,â Jihoon sighed in relief as he fiddled with his ears to make sure they could still function. Soonyoung pouted and gently leaned the guitar against the amp before smiling and leaning his chin on Jihoonâs head and sighs. âWhat time is it?â
âTen past nine,â Soonyoung hummed as he hugged Jihoon and pulled him in for a morning hug.
âSoonyoung⊠the train doesnât leave until three in the afternoon⊠weâre not gonna be lateâŠâ
âBut what if you need to pack somethingââ
âI double-checked my list last night.â
âWhat if you want to do last minute shopping forââ
âAll the big things are on the truck on the way to Busan already.â
Soonyoung sighed in defeat. âWell, okay⊠â he pulled back and looked at Jihoon lovingly and cupped his face before squishing his cheeks, making Jihoon whine as the taller one laughed. âOh, Iâm gonna miss doing this to you every morning. Every day.â
Jihoon noticed the facial expression on Soonyoungâs face and pulled Soonyoungâs hands off of his cheeks and slowly let them down, giving them a squeeze to gain Soonyoungâs attention. âHey, I told you that weâll make this work, okay? Iâm only three hours away by train. Four by bus. Five by car, depending on traffic.â
âAnd only an hour by plane,â Soonyoung smiled, Jihoon snickering with him. âOkay⊠and weâll send presents back and forth, right? Oh, are you going to buy me knick knacks from locals?â
âAh, and waste my money on those things that you donât even need?â
âTheyâre for aesthetics!â
âWeâll see,â Jihoon rolled his eyes while nodding. He smiled when Soonyoung pumped his fists in the air.
They did their daily routine as per usual: Brushed their teeth and washed their faces in the bathroom together, with Soonyoung always waving his arms around looking for the towel to dry off his face that Jihoon always held out for him smiling; making breakfast which usually meant heating up leftovers from the day before when Junhui treated them out since it was Jihoonâs last day; the constant teasing at their small table for two near their apartment window that looked out the area of Gangnam.
This is how itâs always been for the past three years. After they graduated university, they managed to snag jobs in one of the richest and most expensive areas to live in Seoul with a decent wage. However, Jihoon was offered a better opportunity to work in his hometown of Busan with higher pay. The two were thrilled before realizing that Soonyoungâs contract said he needed to stay in Gangnam for four years, this being his first.
Soonyoung offered to pull all of Jihoonâs luggages to the subway station that they were to take to the train station. Jihoon slung his backpack over his right shoulder after slipping on his shoes and turned around to see the taller one struggling rolling three baggages at the same time. He whined to himself when one fell over and he abruptly stopped the other two, causing them to fall as he picked up the first one.
Jihoon chuckled to himself as he went over and grabbed two of the handles and leaned on the balls of his feet to kiss Soonyoungâs cheek. âYouâre sweet, but really, let me help. Theyâre all mine anyway.â
They walked out of their apartment, down the escalator, and onto the streets towards the subway station. They had one luggage in each hand, Soonyoungâs right and Jihoonâs left both holding a luggage in between them. It was a bit difficult and quite humourous to Soonyoung how Jihoon needed to stride in order to keep up with Soonyoungâs normal pace up the hill.
âDonât say anything,â Jihoon grumbled.
âBut itâs cute, Hoon!â
Jihoon groaned as Soonyoung smiled and giggled, the shorter one looking to his other side and blushing slightly.
The subway ride to the train station was about thirty minutes, which went by quickly to Jihoon as he leaned his head on Soonyoungâs shoulder and slept the entire time. Soonyoung, on the other hand, was stroking his loverâs hair and looking down on the ground to make sure the luggages didnât slide around. The more distance they traveled, the more Soonyoung could feel his heart racing. The thought of Jihoon leaving him for so long was hard to swallow.
They walked off as they reached their stop and walked down the tunnel in the direction they heard a train whistle and train tracks moving. Soonyoung looked over and smiled at how enthralled Jihoon looked, a rare sight to view despite how long theyâve been together. He knew how much this meant to Jihoon. He shouldnât get in the way of it.
The worker helped haul Jihoonâs luggages onto the train as Soonyoung and Jihoon were holding hands taking a gaze at the sleek locomotive. Jihoon inhaled the air around him and exhaled smiling. âI canât believe this is actually happening.â
âI canât either,â Soonyoung mumbled to himself.
Turning to face his partner, Jihoon squeezed Soonyoungâs hand. âI know youâre probably panicking on the inside, but thank you for supporting me with this.â
âAh, you know me so well.â
âWeâve only known each other for, what, six years? I pick these things up.â He laughed as Soonyoung forced out a small chuckle before Jihoon sighed. âI donât know when Iâm coming back since I probably wonât be able to get a consecutive amount of days off, but I hope Iâll see you soon, hm?â
Soonyoung nodded and blinked when he felt his eyes water up. He whined and tried to move his face away when Jihoon reached into his pocket and leaned in to wipe his face. Chuckling, he smiled as he watched Soonyoung grab the tissues and wipe his tears by himself before pouting back at Jihoon. âDonât look at me like thatâŠâ
âItâs cute.â
âJihoon!â
âHey,â Jihoon spoke softly, grabbing both of Soonyoungâs hands after he put the tissue into his hoodieâs pockets. He rubbed the back of Soonyoungâs hands with the pads of his thumbs as he started humming again. âI know that weâll be far apart but itâs only physically. Youâll always be with me since youâre always on my mind.â
âJihoon, stop! Iâm going to cry again!â Jihoon smiled and continued with his lyrical, heart throbbing words as Soonyoung wailed and pulled Jihoon close to his chest and nuzzled his face into his hair. Jihoon laughed wholeheartedly. He usually hates it when his hair gets messed up, but if Soonyoung did it he didnât mind. He wrapped his arms around the older one and rubbed his back.
âWeâll keep in touch, okay? Letters, packages, video calls, text messages, phone calls, you name it. We can keep this relationship alive and well.â
Soonyoung pulled back from the hug and Jihoon cooed at how the taller was still pouting and sniffling. His eyes were wiped again once more with another pair of tissues before his crying ceased momentarily. âPromise?â
Jihoon nodded and leaned in and pecked Soonyoungâs lips sweetly. âA sealed with a kiss promise.â
They stood there for a minute, background noises and voices ceased to exist. It was as if the hands on the clock slowly began to stop ticking, the irrelevant bystanders stop walking around in their hustle and bustle, and itâs as if the Earth spun so slowly that its rotation halted as well.
Having never experiencing this ecstasy-like event before, Jihoon shook his head before he realized how his heart rate was accelerating, how warm his cheeks were turning, and how unstable and shaky his legs were moving. Soonyoung felt it as well, though in addition to those symptoms similar to Jihoon, his forehead began to perspire, causing Jihoon to smile and reach into his pocket to grab a tissue and hand it over.
He always carried tissues in his pocket for Soonyoung at times like these.
Their shared trance was interrupted at the sound of the train whistle, the conductor calling for last minute boarding. Jihoon turned his head to the train before turning back to Soonyoung and hugging him tightly. âI love you,â he muttered into his chest before adjusting his backpack and running towards the train door.
â
âHey, Soonyoung,â Junhui nudged his friend as he began to doze off. Soonyoung squealed, his elbow sliding slightly before he jolted up and sat up straight. Junhui sighed in relief, knowing that Soonyoung didnât knock over his plate like heâs been doing for the past few weeks. âDo you want me to repeat the question?â
Soonyoung blinked as he adjusted himself in his seat. âNo, no, Iâm fine! Um, what did you ask?â
Junhui rolled his eyes in response. âI asked if youâre still thinking about switching to a new job.â
âOh, yeah, I still am,â Soonyoung nodded firmly as he went back to cutting the toast drizzled in honey and chocolate syrup before stuffing the forkful into his mouth. âIâve still been asking the manager if I can relocate to Busan.â
ââŠBusan?â
âYeah, my contract is almost done and if I renew it, I want to ask if I can move to Busan!â
Junhui sighed as he watched his friend continue to eat his breakfast before they paid and headed back to their apartment. He glanced over and watched at how Soonyoung was looking up at the infrastructures and the various trees that crossed their path until they reached their building. Unlocking the door, he observed Soonyoung walk over to the pile of boxes that have been collecting dust.
âAre you finally going clean those up?â
Soonyoung gasped as he hugged the smallest and most recent one up to his chest as if he was insulted. âIâm going to look through them.â He sat down and blew off the dust, wiping the residue with his hand and grimacing in disgust at it. âIâll just get a paper towel. Junnie, can you help me sort them?â he asked with a smile as he walked to their kitchen. Junhui shook his head in disappointed but began moving the moving the boxes around by date.
Itâs been three years since Jihoon last sent Soonyoung a package. Or a video call. Or a phone call. Or even a text message. It was as if Lee Jihoon dropped the face of the Earth, yet Kwon Soonyoung disregarded this entirely.
Junhui overlooked his roommateâs phone as they were opening and going through the numerous packages, that have notably decreased in size over the course of this long-distance relationship, and saw all of the one-sided conversations Soonyoung was having with Jihoon. After re-opening the last box, he took a close look at Soonyoung who was humming a snippet of a song Jihoon sent him from the CD Soonyoung just placed down.
âSoonyoung,â Junhui spoke softly, the younger one slowly lifting his head. âDonât you thinkâŠâ he sighed wistfully, âdonât you think you should⊠yâknow⊠give up?â
Silence dawned upon them before Soonyoung blinked in response. âGive up on what?â
âGive up on Jihoon.â
âI cannot give up on the love of my life!â Soonyoung astoundingly exclaimed. âLook at all these packages, Junnie! I still have to sort them out and organize them in my room and bathroom and our kitchenâ and then I have to send Jihoon a text message in reply to thank him for themââ
The other dismally watched his friend ramble before he got up on his knees and walked towards Soonyoung and put his hands on his shoulder. âSoonyoung. Itâs been three years.â
âHe could be busy with his work!â Soonyoung replied as his grip on the box in his lap tightened. âYou know what a hard and dedicated worker he is to his jobââ His voice began to crack and Junhui noticed. âHe probably changed his number⊠yeah, thatâs it. He just couldnât tell me becauseâ he also probably changed his e-mail address. Maybe he moved to a new building too, so thatâs why my packages have been returning back with the âreturn to senderâ label since last year.â
Junhui lightly shook Soonyoung who looked at him with eyes that had tears forming in them. He slowly leaned into Junhuiâs chest and wailed before crying violently to his friend. Soonyoung continued to bawl for what seemed like hours as Junhui continuously rubbed his back and held him, feeling a little heart in his ache as well.
âI still love him, Junhui,â Soonyoung murmured through his tears. âIâm still in love with Lee Jihoon.â
âI know you are, Soonyoung.â
âIs it wrong to?â He looked up after pulling back a bit as Junhui frowned. âIs it wrong to still love him? After three years of not talking to me?â
âThatâs up to you,â Junhui delicately answered. Soonyoung moved his head back to his friendâs chest and pouted to himself, causing Junhui to chuckle a bit. âIf you want to love him, then keep loving him.â
It took a few more minutes for Soonyoung to calm down completely as Junhui helped him sit down on the couch with a blanket on his lap as he moved the boxes back into their original corner. He sipped on the hot chocolate that his roommate prepared him and sighed as he moved so that Junhui could sit next to him. He placed half of the blanket on his friendâs lap and sighed while tapping the sides of the mug.
âI still love himââ
Junhui blinked. Â âThen keep loving him.â
Soonyoung shook his head and looked up at his friend with a sad smile. âI love him, but thereâs not reason to hold onto someone who doesnât want to talk to you anymore.â
The other sat there to take in that sentence before he nodded and patted his back to comfort Soonyoung. âYouâll be okay?â
âEventually.â
âAt least you can say he was yours, hm?â
âYeah,â Soonyoung exhaled as he leaned back against the couch. âLee Jihoon was mine.â
â
Soonyoung got up earlier than usual one morning, beating Junhui who usually takes a light morning jog at eight in the morning. He quickly put on the nearest hoodie by his bedside and walked out after locking the door down the stairs. Itâs unusual for him to roam the streets of Gangnam that had cars and buses that were beginning to fill the streets.
He stopped by one of the coffee shops that was just a few blocks down from the apartment. Opening the door, he was greeted by a friendly and welcoming smile at the counter with a nametag that read âHansol.â It was a decently filled cafe, probably all employees who worked nearby, but there was enough space for Soonyoung to scope the place vividly.
Soonyoung wasnât much of a caffeinated beverage drinker, but he remembers the taste of the times he had tried the various coffee drinks that Jihoon ordered when they went out. He wasnât particularly fond of it, but he remembered how Jihoon said it kept him awake so he thought it was worth a shot. He settled on an Americano and a waffle topped with fresh fruit. Looking at his receipt, and mumbling how expensive this early breakfast was, he sat down at the table for two by the window. His buzzer on the table buzzed and shocked him. Another buzzer simultaneously went off as well.
Another person pulled his hoodie down and ruffled what appeared to be newly-dyed hair on account at how vibrant it looked. Soonyoung coughed and followed behind the person who surprisingly ordered the exact same thing as Soonyoung. The stranger took his tray with the waffle plate on it and went back towards his table. Soonyoung gasped and grabbed the cup of Americano.
âExcuse me, sir, you forgot yourââ
He grasped the mug tightly and stiffened when he saw Jihoon set his tray down and turn around to walk over and grab the Americano, eyes widening in realization as he lifted his head up and they made eye contact.
And they stood there for a minute, background noises and voices ceased to exist. It was as if the hands on the clock slowly began to stop ticking, the irrelevant bystanders stop walking around in their hustle and bustle, and itâs as if the Earth spun so slowly that its rotation halted as well.

Title:Â Surrender Now or Prepare to Fight
Pairing:Â OT13
Length:Â 1,647 words
Summary:Â Itâs hard to get competitive amongst your friends when you have to catch them all, especially when youâre divided into three rival teams. (That one Pokemon Go!AU that nobody asked for but I delivered anyway.)
A/N:Â My life is being taken over by this game. (#Mystic btw.)
Jeonghan was trudging to the bathroom from the kitchen, a snarl escaping his mouth as he gripped his phone tightly into his hand. It was around eight oâclock in the evening but the members who witnessed their angel walk by them already felt the atmosphere tension increase with every step.Â
He saw the bathroom door locked, hearing Wonwoo and Hansol moving around washing their face and brushing their teeth before heading to bed. Jeonghan skillfully unlocked the door and slammed it open, making the two inside squeal.
âJeonghan hyu-â
âWhich one of you fuckers did it??â
Wonwoo with his toothbrush in his mouth and Hansol with his eyes closed desperately reaching around for a towel to dry his washed face were in a state of confusion and panic, a state surprisingly common to be in in their dorm. Hansol wiped his face and looked up at Jeonghan. âHyung, I have no idea what youâre--â
âDonât pull the innocent card on me, Choi! Which one of you took our gym?â
Wonwoo blinked. âOh, you mean the cafe a block away?â
Jeonghan rolled his eyes. âWhat other gym would I be talking about? Mystic had that gym after Jisoo and Seokmin put in their Lapris and Vaporeon three days ago and it was ours ever since. Now, itâs a Valor gym and I know you two and Mingyu and Seungcheol are the only red ones--â
Hansol nudged Wonwoo beside him as their hyung  kept rambling and he whispered, âDoes hyung not know our usernames?â
The older one shrugged in response. âBeats me. I guess itâs hard when all of our names are all âhiphopâ with one, two, three, and four...â
âSo which one of you has a screenname of âhiphop1?ââ
âSeungcheol,â both of the younger ones grumbled in unison, causing Jeonghan to groan. They squealed, pushing Jeonghan out of the bathroom.
âHyung, we arenât done yet! I still have to brush my teeth!â Hansol whined, promptly closing the door in his older friendâs face, Wonwoo locking it immediately after.
âJust run out and grab the gym if you want it so badly!â Wonwoo yelled back.
With an annoyed expression, Jeonghan rolled his eyes and headed back to the kitchen where Junhui was preparing their late dinner along with Soonyoung. They saw their hyung angrily open the fridge, grab a can of cola, and marched back out to the living room where the other members were.
âWhy is Hyung so mad?â Soonyoung asked as he stopped cutting the vegetables.
âValor,â Junhui replied, humming as he moved the pan across the stove top.Â
Jihoon kept nudging Seungkwan before yelling and hitting Seungkwanâs shoulder. âThis is your fault!â
âMy fault? For what! The fact that you suck at throwing curve balls to catch a little âol Eevee?â
âThat âlittle âol Eeveeâ had a CP of 389, Mr. Boo,â Jihoon groaned to himself as he went back to his phone. âI would have given it a Razz Berry too if you didnât tell me to use all of eleven of them for that Snorlax!â
âHyung, itâs not my fault! It was a Snorlax with a CP of 768! It would have wasted ten of your pokeballs!â
âHe has a point,â Jisoo hummed as he was leaning back against the couch going through his list of pokemon. He nudged Seokmin beside him who was dozing off. âHey, which one should I evolve first? The Slowpoke or the Staryu?â
âThe Slowpoke,â Jeonghan chimed in as he locked his phone and looked over. âBecause thatâs what you are--â the younger ones laughed as Jisoo puffed his cheeks when Jeonghan flashed him a cheeky smile. âHey, donât give me that face, weâre on the same team.â
âBecause you grabbed my phone when I turned level five and selected Mystic for me!â Jisoo whined.
âAnd here we are!â Seungkwan beamed proudly, wrapping his arm around Jihoon and Jisoo beside him. âTeam Mystic! The best team in this household!â
âI think you mean Valor,â a voice interrupted. Team Mystic looked up and saw Seungcheol waving his phone around with Mingyu right behind him grinning. âGuess whoâs the owner of three gyms now?â
âSo it was you!â Jeonghan screamed, pointing at Seungcheol who stuck out his tongue playfully. He crossed his arms and grumbled. âShould have known.â
âItâs okay, Hyung,â Mingyu hummed as he showed his phone, âthereâs a gym further away-- you could hatch five of your eggs during that time.â He and Seungcheol shared a laugh as they fist bumped, gaining angry stares from Team Mystic.
There was a sudden cough to break the tension in the living room, all heads turning to Chan who practically jolted at the intense gazes. âU-um... the food is ready.â
They all filtered towards the kitchen, elbowing and nudging each other along the way, as the boys were filling their plates with food. Hansol looked at Chan and blinked as he scooped a heaping amount of rice onto his plate. âWhat team are you again, Chan?â
Chan turned to his older friend. âUm, Performance?â
âNo, no, in the game!â
âOh! Instinct.â
Hansol sighed in relief and patted the shorter oneâs back as they all headed back to the living room with their plates, double its capacity levels. The house was clearly divided. Mystic occupied the couch, squeezing in Jisoo and Jihoon at the ends who complained about the lack of elbow room; Valor sat on the floor closest to the television, obviously blocking the view for Mystic; and Instinct quietly and observantly watched the others.
âHey, hyung,â Chan hummed in Junhuiâs direction, âwhereâs Soonyoung hyung and Minghao hyung?â
Junhui wiped his mouth and shrugged. âProbably eating out? You know they always go on their little cafe dates together.â They smiled at each other and nodded.
Seungkwan watched and pouted. âWhy canât we be a nicer team like Instinct?â
âUm,â Jeonghan coughed, âbecause then Valor would take over and do you really want that to happen, Boo?â Seungkwan scrunched his nose before stuffing his mouth with more food, Jeonghan nodding at his victory.
Seungcheol grabbed his phone out of his back pocket after he finished his plate and checked the application, only to scream at what he found. âOUR GYM IS LOST!â Everyoneâs heads turned, even Junhui and Chanâs who were cleaning around the room. âITâS NEUTRAL NOW! SOMEONE MUST HAVE BEATEN IT!â
Jihoon and Seokmin looked at each other before quickly standing up and sprinting to the foyer, grabbing their shoes and heading out the door. The rest of Mystic gasped, realizing their idea, and followed along.
âShit!â Wonwoo grunted as he pulled Hansol and Mingyu up, both of who yelped and fell onto their faces against the floor.Â
âWhat was that for?â Mingyu whined as he lifted himself up, Hansol following after. He watched as Wonwoo and Seungcheol began putting their shoes on and swiftly tying the laces, glaring at the younger two to hurry up.
âGet your asses off of the floor and out of this door right now! Weâre about to lose our gym to Mystic!â They both squealed, complying with their leaders orders. The place was quickly deserted with Chan and Junhui staying behind.
âShould we follow them hyung?â Chan asked.
Junhui nodded. âYeah, weâll follow later. Letâs just wash the dishes first.â
--
It was a race against the clock as both teams were rushing towards the gym located at the restaurant near the company building. Mystic was in the lead but was slowed down when they noticed a Charizard nearby. Jeonghan tried to haul Seungkwan, but the Jeju boy was too distracted and lacked fire pokemon, so the rest of them left without him.
Valor began catching up, Mingyu squealing when he saw his 5k egg was about to hatch, frowning in disappointment when he realized it was just a high CP Rattata. âKim Mingyu you better not be distracted or Iâm about to transfer all of your Vaporeons!â Seungcheol threatened as he was ahead of their line looking back.
Jihoon and Jisoo reached the gym first, Seungcheol and Hansol following right after as the others began gathering by. Instead of taking the gym in the game, they began bickering at each other, claiming which team is actually the best.
In the midst of arguing, Hansol checked the gymâs status and blinked before tapping Seungcheolâs shoulder who was having a heated discussion with Jisoo and Jeonghan and threatening to cancel their three-way coffee date next Friday. âHyung,â Hansol coughed. âWe canât get the gym.â
âWhat? Why?âÂ
âBecause itâs yellow and all the pokemon are over 2000 CP.â
Seungcheolâs eyes widened in disbelief before he checked the app, as everyone slowly stopped arguing and pulled their phones out to see for themselves.
Jihoon groaned and slapped his forehead when he saw the top tier of the gym with the username âhoshi96.â âKWON SOONYOUNG!â he shouted. Seungkwan and Jisoo yelped and hugged each other when Soonyoung popped in with Minghao right behind him.
âWhatâs up guys?â he smiled.
âSoonyoung!â Wonwoo coughed. âWhere did you come from?â
âOh, Minghao and I have been out and about-- we were catching gyms,â he grinned as he nudged Seokmin next to him and showed his phone. âWe caught every gym within a fifty kilometer radius.â Minghao nodded and showed Mingyu his phone, sticking his tongue out before walking over to Hansol to show him.
âYou have a 2180 CP level Gyarados?â Jisoo gasped.
âYou donât?â Minghao replied back, shocking the other team members. Their heads turned when they heard cheering behind them, seeing Chan and Junhui walking their way.
âGuys, did you see the map?â Chan giggled, âInstinct got all the gyms nearby!â Along with Soonyoung, Junhui, and Minghao, all four of them cheer and huddled together happily while laughing.Â
Junhui looked over at Valor and Mystic with a sly and knowing grin plastered upon his face. âIsnât Instinct just the best?â
Title: Baby Please Come Home
Pairing: Seungsol (Seungkwan x Hansol)
Length: 3,216 words
Summary: During winter break, the boys go back to their homes and Seungkwan flies back to Jeju. Heâs a bit sad to be far away from them, especially Hansol, but perhaps a Christmas miracle shall happen.
A/N: For the Christmas fic project, part two!! Hereâs to our boys, our fandom, and much success in the future for all of us! Merry Christmas, hereâs to many more!
âAre you sure youâll be okay?â Hansol asked, doing a last minute check of the list he had written out a few weeks ago.
âHas anybody seen my Soul Eater beanie?â Jisoo cried out as he scurried around the shared dorm, everyone saying they havenât seen his anime styled headwear.
Seungkwan looked up from his phone and smiled with a nod. Iâll be fine, donât worry.â
âAre you positive?â Hansol asked again. âI can just leave tomorrow with hyung so we can keep you company.â
âYah! Jisoo hyung! I think Soonyoung hyung is hiding it in Wonwoo hyungâs beanie stash!â Chan screamed as he was zipping up his luggage and closing his backpack, adding last minute presents he had forgotten to pack.
âSoonyoung, whyâd you touch my babies?â Wonwoo frowned to himself as he was packing up his toiletry bag, making sure to grab the toothpaste before anyone else was able to.
âBecause Jisoo hyung doesnât suit beanies like you!â Soonyoung patted his friendâs back as they snickered and Jisoo came out of one of the bedrooms, beanie comfortably covering his hair, pouting at his younger friends who kept snickering and giving Jisoo a thumbâs up.
âReally, Hansol, Iâll be fine. Donât worry,â Seungkwan gave his friend another smile, this time showing his teeth. He looked back at his phone as he was catching up on his drama that he was two weeks behind on.
âYah! Whatâs taking you guys so long!â Jihoon groaned, rolling his eyes, as he checked the time on his phone again. âWeâre going to be late!â
Seungcheol shook his head and patted his shorter friendâs shoulder. âHey, relax. We have plenty of time!â He looks over as he watches his younger friends run around like lost ants and he lets out a small chuckle. âI havenât seen everyone this excited since we were treated out to that barbecue buffet.â
Jihoon frowned. âHyung, it takes an hour to get to the airport and we still have to go through check-in, security, and we have to--â he let out a surprised yelp as Mingyu patted his back, backpack on his back and luggage in his right hand.
âYouâre stressing out too much,â Seungcheol patted his back. Jihoon looked up, seeing his two taller friends tower over him and he shook his head and sighed in defeat.
âReally, please.. I donât want you to miss your flight,â Seungkwan smiled.
Hansol frowns. âOkay.â He slings his backpack over his shoulder and fixes his snapback, the one Sophia sent him this year for his birthday, and smiled at his friend. Seungkwan was focused on his phone when he gasped as he felt two arms wrap around his middle and a head lean against his shoulder. His body stiffened as he turned his head to see Hansol engulfing him. âIâll call you when we land, okay?â he smiled.
Seungkwan was still frozen as he felt the arms unwrap him, as if he was a young child who lost his blanket, and he slowly nodded silently. Jisoo yelped when Hansol smacked his bottom, telling him he was ready. Jeonghan, Soonyoung, Seokmin, and Mingyu headed out first, seeing that they didnât have to travel that far to get home. Chan waved farewell to Seungkwan as Wonwoo helped him carry his bags and the two left with Seungcheol and Wonwoo. Junhui and Minghao left earlier that morning since they had two flights to go back to China. Jisoo and Hansol were going to Changwon, where Hansolâs family was for vacation, as Jisooâs parents were flying in for the holidays.
Hansol was the last one out of the dorm and he gave a sad, sorrowful smile to his best friend as he closed the door behind him. Seungkwan looked at the door before locking his phone and sliding down on the couch, sighing to himself.
Looking out the window, he saw snow dust begin to fall from the overcast of white clouds. It wasnât his first time staying at the dorm of his twelve other friends by himself, but it sure felt lonelier than before. The tips of his fingers gently pressed against the window as he looked at the view they had of the streets. There were a few cars that passed by, but for the most part, the roads were empty, the only thing filling were the frozen crystals that began to gather on the gravel.
Seungkwanâs flight was delayed a day later, meaning that he couldnât fly to Jeju-do at the same time as the others. He didnât mind, of course, either way he was going to be in his motherâs arms at the end, but being alone in the dorm was hard. Especially without Hansol.
He wasnât sure how it came to be, but along the lines of always falling asleep next to each other after practice, showing various forms of skinship to him even though Hansol claims not to like affectionate touching, and having heart to heart conversations on the practice room floor at three in the morning, Seungkwan felt different with Hansol.
And it wasnât different in a bad way. Not at all. It was different in a good way. A very good way. A great way. But it wasnât familiar to Seungkwan, so he spent countless nights tossing and turning with his blanket as he looked at Hansol knocked out next to him debating, fighting, with himself in his head. He came to terms with himself though, after many sleepless nights.
Hansol was special to him.
The other members were, of course, special to him and always had a place in Seungkwanâs heart. But Hansol was, again, a different kind of special. The type that makes you feel your stomach contain butterflies, makes you stay up at night smiling, makes you lose your train of thought when you blankly gaze out the window on bus rides.
Theyâve always been close, but Seungkwan felt that theyâve been growing even closer nowadays. It might be his hormones raging and his face growing warmer, but Seungkwan and Hansol were smiling and giggling more together.
The fact that he was going to fly hours away from him, not to mention even further away since both of their destinations were far apart from the starting point, tugged on Seungkwanâs heartstrings in a sad way.
Seungkwan gathered all the blankets and pillows he could that night and began to fixed the sofa as he received multiple texts from the members they were at their destinations for the holidays. He smiled, but it wasnât a full smile as Hansol hasnât texted him yet. It was odd since even Jisoo texted him and he was in the same place as Hansol.
Maybe he forgot, Seungkwan thought. Yeah, heâll probably text him any minute afterwards. But Seungkwanâs thoughts began to wander, talking himself to believe that Hansol probably just doesnât think of Seungkwan the way he thought of him.
He wrapped his body in the blanket as a burrito. Soonyoung taught him to curl up this way for maximum warmth during the cold nights. His eyes began to droop when he heard his phone vibrate. The piercing bright light shocked him but not as much as when he saw that Hansol was calling him.
Seungkwan sprang up, fixing himself as if he were about to see Hansol in person. With a deep breath, he pressed the green button. âH-hello?â
âHey, sorry. My phone died on our way to the hotel,â Hansol apologized with a snicker.â
âT-Thatâs fine!â he smiled shyly to himself, leaning back in the couch. âHow was the flight? You took dramamine right? You get motion sickness real easily..â
Hansol coughed. âY-Yah!â Seungkwan chuckled, knowing Hansolâs ears were probably red. âJisoo hyung made me take them before we boarded. The flight was okay, but my shoulder hurts because Jisoo hyung slept on it.â
The two laughed, talking for what seemed to be ages which was only a little under two hours in reality. Hansol hung up first, his parents wanting him to sleep early as they had a busy family-bonding day ahead of themselves. Putting his phone down, Seungkwan plugged it back into the charger and placed his hand on his heart, noticing how awfully fast it was beating. He whined to himself. âIt was just a phone call..â he told himself.
But it was one with Hansol. That made it all the more special to Seungkwan.
His alarm went off at around five in the morning, but Seungkwan was already wide awake before then, all packed and making sure that everything was in check with a list that he made with Hansol as they planned out their vacations together.
He was ahead of schedule, which was good considering that security always took so long even during the hours before the sun rose. Truthfully, he wasnât able to sleep. He was up all night thinking. About Hansol. Again. As per usual.
Prior to heading downstairs, he called a taxi ahead of time. Once he arrived outside of the building, it was already waiting for him. He hopped in, telling the driver the airport and the terminal. Leaning back, he was typing out his morning text to Hansol, pausing, realizing that he might be sleeping and struggling to hit the send button.
After much debate with himself, he grunted and pressed send and quickly locked his phone, getting out of the taxi, paying the driver, and walking into the airport.
Security went much faster than he thought, and his flight was earlier than usual as well. Seungkwan had a feeling that everything just wanted him to leave and head home quicker than he expected.
Boarding the flight, he imagined the guys with him. Mingyu would keep holding Jihoonâs passport high above his head, the shorter one pouting and threatening the taller, younger one as Seungcheol dozed off on Jeonghanâs shoulder who kept trying to push him off. Jisoo would be on Jeonghanâs other side, probably texting his mother that theyâre all about to board. Junhui and Minghao usually talked to each other in Mandarin, Chan right behind trying to comprehend what is being said. Wonwoo, Soonyoung, and Seokmin would be giggling either making stupid jokes with each other or random bets as to what would happen on the plan. As for Hansol and Seungkwan, they would just be standing in line together, Seungkwan patting Hansolâs back as Hansol was always worried about his motion sickness.
Seungkwan takes his boarding ticket back as he loads onto the plane and sits in his seat. Looking out the window he remembered his first flight with all twelve friends to Japan. He was sitting back, holding Hansolâs wrist as his friend closed his eyes with a frightened expression on his face. Seungkwan sensed the uneasiness, which was why he tried his best to calm him down.
Hansol eventually adapted to the flight and the two began to talk. Seungkwan distracted Hansolâs worried thoughts by talking about his hometown in Jeju.
âMaybe one day,â Hansol smiled, leaning back in his seat, âIâll go with you. You can show me everything.â
Seungkwan smiled. âI hope you can soon.â
He shook himself out of his daze as he realized the plane had landed on his home island already. An hour and five minutes certainly wasnât enough time for Seungkwan to fully engulf himself in his thoughts about Hansol.
Leaving the plane, he headed down to baggage claim to grab his luggage before looking around for his mother. At the sight of her in the sweater he bought her last year for the holidays, he practically dropped all of his belongings just to run up to his mother and immerse himself in her loving arms. She gave him a tight squeeze, securely wrapping her arms around her precious son. They stayed like that for a moment before pulling back, his mother fixing his hair and him smiling as he walked back to get his luggage.
They were driving on their way back to the house, his mother making small talk, asking about the others, the practices, the work, if he was eating enough, sleeping enough, resting enough. He whined at the questions, making her laugh.
âAnd howâs Hansol?â she asked as she turned the corner.
Seungkwan looked up from his phone, blinking before his eyes widened. âH-Hansol?â
His mother nodded. âYeah, the one whoâs around the same age as you.. how is he?â
He rubbed his nose and quickly locked his phone, hiding the fact that he was just texting Hansol. âUh.. heâs alright.â he scratched his neck and turned to look out the window, not realizing that his mother turned to him and smiled knowingly.
They arrived back at the house, his father picking up other ingredients for tonightâs dinner before heading home from work. He brought his belongings to his room and fell onto his bed with a loud sigh. He missed home. He missed his mother and father. He lifted his head up and pouted. He missed Hansol most of all.
The first time he arrived in Seoul, he wanted to cry. So far away from the woman who tended, nurtured, and raised him was tough, especially since they were close. He first met Hansol during his first day training, the two sharing the same birth year connected them quickly. They clicked instantly, Hansol already inviting Seungkwan to meet his family in Hongdae.
At a glance, they were a different family, but not all that different from Seungkwanâs own family. They welcomed him with open arms, as if he had known them all his life. And Seungkwan felt that he had a small family away from home.
He began unpacking his clothes and looked around his room. It was much bigger than the bedrooms that he shared with his friends, probably because there was only one bed as opposed to a couple of bunk beds crowding the room.
Moving into the dorm was difficult as well as he was used to having a room to himself. Sharing a room, as well as a bathroom, kitchen, and various daily necessities was a huge step for Seungkwan. He remembered the first week was difficult as he slept outside in the living room on the floor on top of sprawled out blankets. Hansol joined him though, claiming that he liked sleeping in open spaces compared to the crowded bedroom. And from that moment on, the living room was their self-claimed territory during their sleeping hours.
Seungkwan was lost in his thoughts that his mother had to knock on his bedroom door and poke her head in. âI called you a thousand times already,â she giggled as her son turned around and blushed. âDadâs here and the foodâs ready. Wash up and get dressed. Weâre taking a family photo as well!â
Dress up? They usually never dress up, especially when it came to dinners. But no matter, Seungkwan was an obedient child and picked out a nice, maroon sweater vest that his mother had packed in his suitcase from his last visit.
He came downstairs and looked at how much food his mother had prepared. This was way more than what three people could eat in one whole sitting. âMom.. you really outdid yourself,â he forced out a laugh as he walked into the dining room. He saw his dad who was holding the camcorder, as he always did when Seungkwan came back, and scurried up to him to give him a hug before going back to his mom, awaiting a reply.
She smiled at him. âOh, did I forget to tell you? Weâre having guests!â Â Â Â Â
Seungkwan whined to himself. âDid you invite Uncle Jaehyung again? He always eats all of the kimchi!â
With a soft laugh, she patted her sonâs cheek before kissing it and shaking her head. âItâs his favourite side dish! And, no, we have other guests coming over.â Just then, there was a knock at the door, his mother putting her hands together and clapping excitedly. âOh! That must be them now. Sweetie, could you get the door for me please?â
Before he could reply, his mother dashed back into the dining room as Seungkwan heard the knock again. He sighed and shrugged his shoulders, walking towards the door. As he opened the door, he was greeted by a little girl and he stood there, frozen.
âS-Sophia?â he mouthed. She waved at him and gave him a warm hug before running into the house. His eyes followed her as she went to his mom to give her a hug. If Sophia was here, that could only mean one thing. He slowly turned his head and yelped when he saw Hansol standing right in front of him, laughing when Seungkwan squatted on the floor from shock.
âHello to you too,â Hansol replied as he crouched down and his parents came in to greet Seungkwanâs parents.
Seungkwanâs cheeks were rosy and warm as he made eye contact with Hansol. âI thought you were--â
â--going to Changwon?â he asked. âJisoo went there, but I went to visit my parents in Jeju.â He helped Seungkwan back up and patted his back. âWe actually planned this with your parents ahead of time.â Seungkwan blinked, still in shock, and turned to his parents, his mother smiling widely and waving as his father made the same gesture, recording the whole thing.
Seungkwan pouted at them and turned back to Hansol. They stood there, smiling at each other, before Seungkwan sprung up and pulled Hansol close to him, arms wrapped around his friend tightly, rocking him side to side. âI missed you,â he confessed. Hansol let out a quiet chortle, wrapping his arms around Seungkwan. The Jeju boy felt his heart race at their affection, but he could have sworn that he felt Hansolâs heart beat just as fast, if not faster.
Not to Seungkwanâs knowledge, apparently all the other members knew about Hansolâs Jeju vacation plans. Or thatâs what they told him in their large group skype conversation after Hansol and Seungkwanâs families ate dinner together. All of them shared the events that happened when they came home and everything that theyâve been up to. Junhui and Minghao were the first to log off as one of their family members asked them to show off their dancing moves Jisoo followed soon after as the wi-fi in the ski resort he was staying at had limited connection. The others began to log off one by one until Seungkwan and Hansol were left looking at a white chatroom before facing each other.
âOh, hey, I almost forgot,â Hansol smiled as he hopped off of Seungkwanâs bed and walked over to his backpack. Seungkwan sat up and watched his friend dig through before grabbing something and hiding it behind his back. Hansol sat next to Seungkwan and revealed a small, robin egg blue box that he set on his lap. Seungkwan blinked down at the box as Hansol eagerly watched his friend. âWell⊠arenât you going to open it?â
Seungkwan kept staring at the box before looking up at Hansol. His cheeks grew red as he took a deep breath and grabbed the small, egg white ribbon on top of the box and placed it on top of Hansolâs curly locks. âYouâre the present I wanted most.â
Title:Â With the Flow
Pairing:Â Wonsoon (fem!Soonyoung x Wonwoo)
Length:Â 1,692 words
Summary:Â Soonyoung needs to stock back up on feminine hygiene products and itâs one in the morning when she sees the only worker on the graveyard shift is that cute part-time worker named Wonwoo.
A/N:Â #JELLYFORPRESIDENT screaminghoshi :â)
âJihoon, please!â Soonyoung begged, curled up underneath her blanket, groaning to herself as she rolled around on the twin mattress. âItâs not even that late!â
On the other line, Jihoon rotates in his chair and slides to grab a bottle of water, one sip, before rolling back to the monitor. âSoonie, Iâm a bit busy right now.â
âYouâre always busy!â she pouted as the blanket curled around her, messing her newly-dyed blond hair. Slowly, she sat up, feeling herself quickly go back down onto the mattress, letting out a weak agonizing sound as she rubbed her stomach. âPlease? For your best friend!â
Soonyoung heard the music in the background of the phone pause suddenly, a bit of shuffling, and paper stacking, before she heard the dial tone, followed by a message of Jihoon saying he owes her next time.
âRude!â she exclaimed, throwing her phone to the lower half of the mattress as she wrapped the Naruto decorated comforter her other best friend, Seokmin, got her for her birthday last year tighter around herself. Groaning, she rolled as her eyes met the ceiling.Â
Time flies a tad slower than usual when you keep moaning in agony about the cramps in your stomach that felt as if someone was stabbing you to death five hundred times. At least to Soonyoung, thatâs what it felt like.
âI hate everything,â she cried as she sat up, pursing his lips and rubbing her stomach. Her mom tried to rub that magical green oil, that almost all of his friendâs mothers have, and claimed that it can heal everything, but the effects didnât last long. She rubbed her nose as a tear fell from her eye. She blinked, shocked. âWhoa, Iâm not that sad, body.â
Seeing as her mother wasnât going to come home, and that her dad left his car and the keys near the foyer before he left on his business trip, she might as well go out to buy her own pads. She rolled out of bed, literally, landing on the floor with a loud thud that would probably make her mother scream if she were home. Perks of being home alone, she thought.
Grabbing her Adidas track pants that hung on the back of the desk chair, which she really didnât know whether it was clean or not, and the royal purple hoodie that Jihoon left in her house a week ago.
Her hair was up in a simple bun, a messy one at that, as it bounced while she walked down the stairs and grabbed the keys, her pair of worn out sneakers and tripped through the doorway as she tried to walk and put her shoes on at the same time.
Lucky for her, the nearby convenience store was only a twenty minute drive. There was a light drizzle, making Soonyoung wince as she pulled the hood over her bun, which left and awkward gap between her scalp and the hood.
The automatic doors slide to the sides as Soonyoung made her entrance and grabbed the red basket on the left, just in case she wanted to get other things.Â
âHey,â a voice called out, surprising Soonyoung and making her squeal while jumping and turning around. The employee with the red apron behind the counter snickered and shook his hands. âSorry, sorry. I didnât mean to scare you.â
Soonyoungâs breathing began to calm down when she realized that, holy shit, this guy behind the counter was pretty cute. The name on his nametag, Wonwoo, broke the awkward greeting barrier as Soonyoung shyly waved, feeling her cheeks grow slightly red.
âDo you need help?â Wonwoo asked, leaning his elbow on the counter and his chin on the palm of his hand, probably because this was the only exciting thing thatâs happened during his shift since it was way past midnight.
âN-no, Iâm fine. Thanks though.â Honestly, did she have the courage to ask a cute employee to tell her where the sanitary napkins were? No, she was flustered as is, that would make it worse. She walked down the aisles, chin held up looking at the signs looking for the feminine hygiene aisle.Â
The hood fell back to behind her shoulders making her groan. Out of all days to dress up like her imagine didnât matter and she wasnât, lowkey, trying to get Wonwooâs attention. She kept reminding herself she was a fierce, confident woman, but who was she kidding, she wished she would have at least worn jeans.
She wasnât usually flinchy, but Soonyoung heard what seemed to be boxes falling onto the floor. âS-sorry!â Wonwoo apologize as he appeared on the other end of the aisle, trying to recollect the cardboard cubes. Clumsy and cute, not bad.
After walking down five aisles, secretly making sure Wonwoo was in viewing distance for eye candy purposes, Soonyoung managed to find the pads, along with a few bags of various snacks and chips to satisfy her craves that would probably hit once she got home.
Luckily, the store had one last box of the brand name she used. It was a relief as she put the box into her basket that was now overflowing. She was going to treat herself to a small pint of ice cream when it hit her that Wonwoo was going to scan everything in the basket, including the pads.
There was no reason to be flustered, right? The menstrual cycle was part of nature and she assumed Wonwoo was way past the age of when boys thought that girls were gross and had cooties. He probably had a girlfriend anyway, right? He might have been use to it.Â
Her feet began to lead her to the counter, gulping as she saw Wonwoo tapping the pen on the counter, as if he was waiting for her.
What if he didnât have a girlfriend though? What if he had a boyfriend instead? What if he had many partners? What if he wasnât even interested in having a partner and instead just wanted to focus on a silly little hobby like collecting stuffed toys? More importantly, why was Soonyoung thinking of these stupid fucking questions as she was approaching Wonwoo?
Her heart skipped a beat when Wonwoo smiled at her. Fuck, what the hell is going on, are her hormones getting the best of her?
âFind everything okay?â he asked, scanning the first few snack bags scan through and placed into plastic bags.
âY-Yeah,â Soonyoung nodded slowly, thankful she hid the pads at the bottom of the basket.
âA bit weird to come by during this time, huh?â he snickered.
She blinked. âW-well I needed to get something.â
âIs it that time of the month?â Soonyoungâs eyes widened as her cheeks grew redder. Wonwoo shrugged, as if he knew she was about to ask why he knew that. âJust a hunch.â He sighed as he typed in the package code for one of the items in the basket. âThat, and you just bought a ton of food at one in the morning.â
âIt could be for other reasons.â
âLikeâ?â
Soonyoung stood there, various âumsâ and âahsâ coming out of her mouth as she was trying to think of something. âM-my mom could be pregnant and craving these!â
Wonwoo looked up at her, their eyes meeting, Soonyoung swore that she saw a thin, almost invisible line, of electricity connect their gazes. âTouche.â
Smiling to herself, Soonyoung let out a snicker. âYou had a good hunch though. Weâll go with your answer.â
He smiled at her, one that was bigger than the one she saw when he dropped the boxes. It was only then that she realized Wonwoo had casually placed the box of pads into the bag without getting embarrassed or disturbed.
âDoesnât that bother you?â she asked bluntly.
âWhat?â he asked confused, looking down at the plastic bags as he placed them on the counter. âMy apron?â
She giggled. Cute, funny, pretty oblivious; not bad. âThe box.â
He turned his head and he peaked in the bag as he rang up the total. âOh, the pads? Well, it isnât really a bother. They arenât annoying me or anything,â he joked.
She laughed along with his poor joke, but she seemed more into it that she normally would. Probably because itâs super late, they were the only two in the store, and she would do anything to see him smile again. This time, she was lucky as his nose crinkled and an eye smile formed.
Wonwoo said the total aloud, Soonyoung responded by handing over the debit card her father gave her for her graduation present. Their fingers brushed, causing Soonyoung to blush even more. Fuck, she was overthinking this too much, her hormones were definitely taking over.
He handed back the card with the receipt she was to sign and tapped on the counter waiting patiently.
âDonât you get bored?â She asked as she sighed with the pen he was playing with earlier. âI meanâ night shift with nobody around and all?â
âI get paid and I get some quiet time,â he replied as he took the receipt and handed her the bags. âPlus, this is a pretty exciting shift for me seeing you.â
There was a pause, neither of them could decipher whether it was awkward or not, but the two stared at each other and blushed a bit. âHere, wait,â Soonyoung boldly stated as she clicked the pen and wrote her number down on the back of the receipt before handing it back to him.Â
He snickered, reading the number and smiling to himself before up at her. âThanks.â He read the numbers to himself, mouthing each digit before looking back up at her. âIt doesnât bother you does it?â
âWhat?â Soonyoung asked as she took the bags in each hand.
âGiving your number to some guy behind the counter at a convenience store at one in the morning?â
She grinned cheekily. âOh, that?â she pursed her lips, motioning to the receipt. Well,â she began, âit isnât much of a bother.â She snickered as she made her way for the door. âItâs not like it annoys me or anything,â she winked.
