You didn’t know what he meant by “keep watch,” but you didn’t have the energy to ask.

You curled up, pink socks and all, feeling very small and very princess-like under the warm blanket.

And Minwook?

He sat beside you. Not too close. But close enough that you felt safe.

Somewhere between the quiet and the comfort, sleep pulled you under.

When you woke, the world was warm.

Soft. Steady.

Your cheek rested against something solid—a warm shoulder, a chest that rose and fell in slow breaths, an arm tucked around you as if keeping you from slipping off the couch.

You blinked.

You were curled against Minwook’s chest.

Not the couch. Not a pillow.

Minwook.

He was still asleep, head tilted slightly toward yours, hair falling gently into his eyes. His arm held you carefully—not tight, not loose. Protective. Thoughtful. As if he’d spent the entire nap watching over you until he drifted off too.

Your heart fluttered.

You shifted slightly, and his arm tightened instinctively.

“Mm…don’t move,” he murmured, voice low and sleep-warm. “You’ll fall.”

“I won’t,” you whispered back.

“Still,” he said, eyes still closed, “I’ve got you.”

You stared up at him.

He wasn’t flustered like Xiang would’ve been. He wasn’t shy like Kyoungbae. He wasn’t stiff or startled.

He was simply…steady.

Like this was natural.

Like taking care of you was something he’d always do.

“Did you really keep watch?” you asked softly.

Minwook finally opened his eyes—soft, heavy-lidded, still gentle from sleep.

“I tried,” he admitted. “You fell asleep on my arm. I didn’t want to wake you.”

“And then you fell asleep too?”

He huffed a quiet laugh. “Yeah. Guess my job description changed.”

“What job description?”

He shifted just enough to look at you fully, his hand brushing your back to steady you.

“Being your pillow,” he said simply. “If you want.”

Your cheeks warmed.

“I don’t mind,” you whispered.

His lips curved—small, warm, protective.

“Good,” he murmured, pulling you just a little closer. “Then rest a little longer. I’ll stay right here.”
