This year’s Yule altar ❄️
I have my Green Man sculpture to represent the Oak King/Mabon reborn, and the Cailleach I sculpted a few years ago crowned with a ribbon of sparkling snow.
I have a lot of red and yellow candles to symbolize life and the sun and rebirth, and an Elk hip bone to honour the spirits of the land, and the Yule goat. When the time comes, I will call my spirits and ancestors, I will offer mulled wine and oranges, and I will sit with the spirits in the falling dark, keeping vigil by flame, until the dawn breaks.

It was Doctor Who meets Nightmare Before Christmas with Rose as a Christmas elf and the Doctor as a kind of zombie as the Pumpkin King. The story has now become this -
It’s sort of like Elf meets Nightmare Before Christmas and is the first in what will be a series of holiday books! It’s super cute, tooth-rotting fluff and is currently SFW. (That may change in future books!)

On my visit to Orkney, I was impressed by the number of Neolithic and prehistoric sites. One of the most impressive is Maeshowe, famous for its midwinter alignment. “In the weeks leading up to the winter solstice, the darkest time of the Orcadian year, the last rays of the setting sun shine through Maeshowe's entrance passage to pierce the darkness of the chambered cairn....To the users of Maeshowe, just as it still does today, the return of the sun heralded a resurgence of light and the return of life to the land.
Early Midwinter Solstice celebration in my little corner of the world. Stories, music, warm food, bitter rain, ankle deep mud, a burning wicker man. Wassail, drink-hale!
My favourite part is always the indigenous Welcome to Place Ceremony, and I try to get nice and close to the smoke so that I’m bathed in the scent of my forests. I like to think of Nature as like a wolf pack, placatable with familiar smells, taking me in as one of its own after this ceremony.
It’s wonderful to have so many people of so many backgrounds come together to celebrate natures cycle.
