Oval? Are you going to have vertical and horizontal rectangles?
I think you're right about oval. And yes, the rectangle frames will go vertical and horizontal. I also have these cast-iron cursive words - Live, Laugh, and Love - that I might intersperse throughout the frames. And maybe a long rectangle frame?
What wacky color would you dye your hair (if you wouldn't catch flak for it)? What color is your hair, naturally? Have you ever (or would you ever) dye it?
I probably wouldn’t go wacky on it, I’d probably go a sensible shade of red to go with my Irish side (I also would not be the only red head in the family as two of my siblings have red).
My natural color partially depends on recent sun exposure but it’s a fairly dark brown normally. If I’ve been in the sun recently or it’s completely dry with no product (rare occasion) it looks much lighter and I’ve actually had people ask me if I went and got blonde and/or red lowlights. So basically my hair is a weird color.
I’ve actually never dyed my hair. It was a topic of conversation among my friends when we were getting ready to go on our 8th grade trip to DC, but Mom shot that down by telling me to not bother coming back if I did (fairly certain she didn’t mean it but she’s got that stern mother thing down pat). Also, as weird as it may be, I’m looking forward to seeing what my hair does as I age. If I follow what Dad did, I’ll gracefully transition into a silvery grey between the ages of 35 and 45. If I follow Mom, I’ll barely have a sprinkling of greys when approaching my 65th birthday. I’m completely okay with either option and extremely curious about what my genetics will do to me.
and...round two
1) Which band/artist have you seen the most in concert? (Or, if you’ve never gone to a concert…who do you want to see first?)
*I've never seen an artist more than once in concert. But I really enjoyed the Green Day show I went to in high school.
2) Fallon, Kimmel or Letterman?
*none of the above...too late for me :(
3) Cable or Broadcast TV?
*cable...we DVR and watch a lot of cable
4) Which relative of yours are you the most similar to and why?
*I'm actually not similar to any of my relatives. It's almost like I'm adopted! I don't look or act like any of them...
5) What was your favorite class in college?
*ummm...I can't actually remember any classes that I really enjoyed...that's sad isn't it?
6) Do you have an ex you’d ever consider dating again?
*nope...happily married. no exes to consider.
7) Have you ever contacted a local/state/national politician from your area?
*I've sent email letters about education issues
8) What is your opinion on Reality TV?
*bull crap. don't watch it...don't like it...don't want to watch it
9) What is your favorite part/aspect of your job?
*cliche as it sounds, I really love it when my students have an "ah-ha" moment. That's my favorite part. when things click for them and they just get it.
midwestmumblings I've been using the myfitnesspal app to direct what I eat on a daily basis to keep a balance balance among my intake of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. When I started using the app I found that I was averaging about 7-8% protein, 42-43% fat, and right around 50% carbohydrates as well as taking in about twice as much sodium as I should have been on a daily basis. This helped me focus in on the things I need in my diet or not in my diet. I've also been using a fitbit, which is linked to the myfitnesspal app to keep track of my calories burned. But you asked for foods I've been eating, so:
I'm a big fan of the cottage cheese (fat free) and fruit combo (usually applesauce).
Grilled cheese (as a fatty indulgence on days when my fat intake is down otherwise)
Lots of protein bars
Special K protein shakes (I like the banana or milk chocolate)
Chicken (I buy it plain and marinade to taste with a low sodium marinade)
Sometimes I make homemade green pepper topped pizza with a fresh whole grain wheat dough (I can send you the dough recipe if you want it)
Once or twice a week I make cinnamon french toast with wheat bread slices (though I now eat two slices instead of four)
Yogurt
Granola (Nature Valley Oats & Honey) with dried fruit (usually bananas) or fresh fruit (usually blueberries)
I've been on a kick with sugar free cookies and sugar free popsicles since Mom visited a few weeks ago (she's diabetic and I bought snacks for her that she couldn't finish in her week)
I try to eat at least 2 servings of fresh fruit each day with my other servings of fruit being dried
This is by no means an exhaustive list of things I eat, but it gives a general idea. I've been spacing things out all summer in such a way that I eat something about every 2-3 hours; it keeps me from getting super hungry at any one point in time. I am a little worried about the way my classes are scheduled this year because it means that I'll no longer be able to sneak the 'second breakfast' I had during 3rd period every day last spring when I first started to notice results from my changed eating habits. Maybe I'll have to let that class period have snacks so that I can snack (just not on dissection days).

What is your favorite unit to teach? What is your least favorite unit to teach?
Favorite: The Iliad, hands down.
Least: I did not really enjoy The Odyssey this year. I think this bears further thought actually, because I don’t want that to start projecting on to the students…
midwestmumblings said: Sorry (not sorry) but the Yankees losing makes me smile. I hate them. Looks like we found something to disagree about. ;-)
To clarify! I hate the Yankees! But the Astros are in Anaheim's division and I count on them to hang out in the basement. Not loving them having a better record then us :/
