Today i got back into working in UE 5 and decided to watch some guy talk about the recent announcements about UE6
And now i'm a bit upset.
Sure, they introduced many cool things, but i've got a problem with these changes:
Ai incorporation and a new coding language
Now, i am not that rageful ai hater (though i do dislike it), and i wouldn't mind it as long as it's not an option that i must use. And the new coding language is very cool too, it's just great. So what's the problem?
UE developers confirmed that the new coding language will not support Blueprints
For context, blueprints are a visual coding language that UE is famous for implementing. This system allows you to make a game without code - instead you string blocks together to make working logic. It allowed people who aren't good with coding to work in UE, and it's a great way to be introduced to the engine.
I think you're starting to see the issue
Instead of having options to: use blueprints or use code or merge them together for greater results.
We'll now have: code with ai or code without ai
I don't like this. At all.
But that's my rant for today.
Continuing the real-time animation deep dive with a new A-COM Animation Sample, this time exploring animation workflows in Unreal Engine 5.
After testing the Zebra Character Sample, I found some free time over the weekend for a quick personal sprint with two rigs, AlphaRig and BetaRig, from the AgoraCommunity.
(a free project they put out for the community).
A quick rock-paper-scissors micro short, I named it "Jan Ken Boom!"
Built entirely with Control Rig and Sequencer, no external software, just real-time iteration.
With every test, UE5 feels more and more ready for actual production, not just quick prototyping.
