It could have something to do with solidly entering my mid-thirties -- I have been looking inward and backwards for any lasting connections to that person I was when I first moved here, who was so carefree, wholesome, and loving. It's probably the reason I've started writing again, and started thinking about how to share my music -- those are the threads that tell me I'm the same person. But I've learned some hard lessons since then, and they've changed me.
I wrote this song last month, reminiscing the week of christmas (really, not feeling the holiday spirit).

Hi, it's me, the one formerly known as the pie lady. Since the end of the pie adventure I've continued to reinvent myself - as a line cook, waitress, farm hand, ranch hand, sheep midwife, cranberry harvester, birder, botanist. There will be more - but it's all me, and through it all the one connecting thread has been music. During the past few years I've spent more time songwriting than ever before, and have finally started to try and record some of them, so I thought it was time to make a space to share about it all.
Over the last 9ish years I've had a cool group of guys to play with who bring a lot of life, feeling, and movement to the songs I write. I think it all started when I sang along on some jazz standards that Max, Clark, and Adam played together - that was Tbird and the Demarzo trio. Then we became Tbird and the Night Shift, back when we were all working weird night or swing hours. For awhile we reinvented our band name at every gig, depending on where we were playing or how we were feeling. A while later we added Kevin Miller to the mix and now the gang's all here, more without a band name than ever. At one point Clark started calling us "Tbird and the other birds", and that's the only thing that's sticking, for now. Or we'll forever be, the band formerly known as....
