365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All YearâŚ
July 19th - Excalibur
Doctor Faiza Hussain was conducting field triage in London during the Skrull Invasion, tending to the injured in the midst of the conflict. Â Her medical tent was attacked by a Skrull war machine, but Dane Whitman, the Black Knight, intervened, killing the war machine's pilot, and sending the machine itself crashing to the ground. Dane scouted the area to see if there were any survivors, and then brought Dr. Hussain along to tend to their wounds. While they were checking on survivors near the downed war machine, one of its devices came to life, blasting Dr. Hussain and knocking her unconscious. Â
Whist unconscious, Dr. Hussain had a mysterious dream where she was visited by the spirits of King Arthur and Merlin the Mage. Â This had the effect of awakening mystical abilities in Faiza. Â When she came to, she discovered she could wield magical spells. Â This includes the capacity to psionically deconstruct and rearrange biological entities, temporarily paralyze people and magically heal injuries. Â
During the Skrull invasion, Captain Britain (Brian Braddock) was bestowed the powerful sword, Excalibur, to help vanquish the invaders. Â Once the invasion was fully repelled, Captain Britain was unable to wield the sword and stabbed it into the ground knowing that only the worthy would be able to unearth it. Â Dr. Hussain felt a strange attraction to the sword as the spirit of Merlin whispered in her ear. Â She took hold of the swordâs hilt and, much to her shock, was able to lift it. Â The Black Knight explained that the sword had chosen her and that it was now Faizaâs duty to use it as a hero and protector of the innocent. Â
The Black Knight helped her learn to use the sword and Dr. Hussain joined MI-13under eh codename of Excalibur. Â She and Dane have grown close and clearly there is a mutual attraction to one another; although whether or not the two will become romantically involved remains to be told. Â Excalibur has had many adventures alongside her MI-13 teammates and has also been a part of the team of medically trained superheroes brought together by Dr. Strange. Â
Dr. Faiza Hussain/Excalibur first appeared in the pages of Captain Britain and MI-13 #1 (2008).
MCU Captain Britain Speculation
Captain Carter - Peggy Carter
Many fans have caught on to the slight detail that What If Episode 1 dubbed thee Peggy Carter as Captain Carter instead of say Captain America or Captain Britain. While it seemed obvious that she wouldnât be Captain America because she is British the fact that she is working with/for the US military would not have been too far off considering how quickly they turned and embraced her following her success in the field. However the Captain Britain moniker might have made perfect sense to most fans given that she is British and the union jack suit and shield ensemble. In all honesty she should have been... unless that title were already taken. We know because of Avengers Endgame that a Braddock exists in the MCU year 1970 and is working with/for SHIELD. What is unclear is if this Braddock is either of the twins Brian or Betsy and/or Captain Britain at this point. Regardless we can confirm that the Braddock family exists in the MCU and may be introduced in the future one way or another. Thankfully the showrunners confirmed in an interview that naming her Captain Carter and not Captain Britain while even in an alternate timeline was intentional. Letâs speculate why.
Captain Britain - Brian Braddock
Comics inspired by Captain America it was Captain Britain who was to be celebrated and sold to our national cousins across the pond. Rooted in Marvel-Arthurian mythology this hero obtains his powers through magical relics introduced by him by the wizard Merlin who allows him to choose either the Amulet of Right or Sword of Might (not to be confused with Excalibur the legendary sword of King Arthur). Even if Captain Britain does not currently exist in the Captain Carter timeline perhaps the legend of him as King Arthur does and as such the governments might be holding out on giving Peggy that namesake in the hope and respect of Britainâs true protector. By extension the MCU is not new to retconning and blending comic concepts. In introducing Captain Britain I can see them changing the Sword of Might into Excalibur and then using that as the powerful sword of one Black Knight as opposed to his Ebony Blade. Black Knight is set to debut in the Eternals portrayed by Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington. As the MCU goes into the multiverse as What If and Loki already have the Captain Britain persona itself is a multidimensional character and part of a greater Captain Britain Corps. He could be a worthwhile addition to the MCU and why naming Peggy that could verily cause confusion.
Captain Britain - Betsy Braddock
Speaking of confusion as fate would have it the What If series comes after Marvel Studios has reclaimed the rights of the X-Men and their introduction into the MCU while yet to be announced is undoubtedly imminent. A peculiar character in Betsy Braddock once possessed the form of telepathic/asian assassin Psylocke Kwannon. [Comic Spoilers] Within the current Jonathan Hickman run these two are separated back into their individual selves leaving Betsy still with psychic ability but without Kwannonâs mastery or a moniker of her own. Through the X of Swords event Betsy was revealed to take on her brotherâs role of Captain Britain leading the new Excalibur team (not related to the sword). If we look at Captain Marvel in the MCU as an example they ignored the comic canon of the original Captain Mar-Vell. While I do not think the MCU would sidestep Brian and go straight to Betsy I also would not bet against it especially as many believe that Hickmanâs House of X version of mutants will be the way they would be introduced in the MCU.

Ideas for possible âAgents of SHIELDâ spinoff shows
1) Marvelâs Ghost Rider
2) Secret Warriors (Chloe and Natalia will have to leave AOS but at least theyâll be leading their own show)
3) 1980s SHIELD, featuring a young Melinda and Phil. They wonât be the main leads, theyâll be the Fitz and Simmons of the show. The lead should be someone like Clay Quartermain or U.S. Agent.Â
4) Agents of HYDRAÂ
5) Livewires, a show featuring a team comprised of Life Model DecoysÂ
6) Agents of MI-13 (the British S.H.I.E.L.D. since we canât use S.T.R.I.K.E. anymore)Â
7) Marvelâs Deathlok
8) Agents of S.W.O.R.D.

October 14th - Spitfire
Lady Jacqueline Falsworth is the daughter of the British aristocrat, Lord Montgomery Falsworth, who had been known during World War I as the costumed hero Union Jack. In early 1942, in the height of the Second World War, young Jacqueline was working with  Britain's Women's Voluntary Services. Herein, she was attacked by the vampiric axis agent known as Baron Blood. She survived the attack but was dying from massive blood loss. Desperate to save the young womanâs life, Jim Hammond (the hero known as the Human Torch) provided her an emergency blood transfusion. Â
Jacqueline recovered and discovered that she now possessed superhuman speed. She assumed this new power was a result of the transfusion she received from Scynthoid book, yet it  would later come to light that the experience had activated her latent X-gene (and that her powers are actually the product of her being a Mutant). Regardless of their origins, Jacqueline was set on using her new powers to aide the Allied Forces. She donned a colorful costume and took on the alias of âSpitfire.â The allied super team, The Invaders, were initially reluctant to accept a woman into their ranks yet quickly changed their mind after Spitfire proved her tremendous skill and valor in battle. Â
Spitfire fought alongside The Invaders for the duration of the war. Afterwards she retired from super heroics, married and tended to her fatherâs estate. Years later, Lady Jacqueline resumed her guise as Spitfire to assisst her former allies in defeating the returned nazi threat known as Master Man. The villain was defeated but Jacqueline was severely injured. Once more she was given a transfusion by The Human Torch and this time not only did it heal her but also had the strange effect of reversing her age so that she was once more a young woman. Â
Uncertain what to do with this second chance at life, Jacqueline ended up as the director of Prince Namor's company, Oracle, Inc. Later she returned to super heroics as a member of the new Invaders and, after that, as an operative of MI-13. Â
It was later determined that Jacquelineâs de-aging was the result of the remnants of Baron Bloodâs vampiric DNA becoming activated and returning her to the age she was when the Baron first attacked her. Her vampire qualities have slowly emerged and Jacqueline has had to cope as best she can to resist the newfound bloodlust. Â
The heroine first appeared in the pages of The Invaders Vol. 1 #7 (1976).Â

September 29th - Captain Avalon
Born and raised in the small town of Maldon, Essex, Brian Braddock grew up a  shy and studious youth.  He spent most of his time studying and conversing with his older brother, Jaimie, and twin sister, Betsy.
In the wake of the tragic deaths of his parents, Brian accepted a position as a research fellow at the prestigious Darkmoor Labs. Â Some time thereafter, the facility was attacked by the super villain known as The Reaver. Â Brian attempted to escape on his motorcycle so to alert the authorities. Â He was run off the road by The Reaver and crashed into a riverbed. Â
Near death, Brian was visited by the spirits of the powerful mage, Merlyn, and his daughter, Roma. Â These entities offered Brian the opportunity to become their champion, âCaptain Britain.â Â Provided with the powerful Amulet of Right, Brian was instantly healed of his injuries and imbued with awesome new powers. Â
Brain would later come to learn that these powers are the effect of his becoming a dimensional conduit. Â herein, his abilities are powered by inter-dimensional energies which are concentrated around the British Isles of each reality throughout the multiverse. Â
As Captain Britain, Brian would go on to have countless adventures as the champion of the The United Kingdom and its peoples, as well as the defender of Earth-616 as a member of the multiversal Captain Britain Corps. He would go on to help form the super team, Excalibur, and additionally served as a member of The Avengers, The Champions of Europe and MI-13. Â During his adventures, Brian met the Mutant hero Meggan and the two fell in love. Â The pair married and have a daughter named Maggie.
Later, following his corruption at the hands of Morgan le Fay, Brianâs sister Betsy took on the mantle of Captain Britain. Â Brian recovered from Morganâs influence but decided that his sister should retain the title of Captain Britain, choosing for himself the new moniker of âCaptain Avalonâ the defender of the realm of Avalon.
The hero first appeared in Captain Britain Vol 1 1 (1976).
