“BNF”
metaphortunate said in response to this post:
Could we come up with a name for our excellent fanfic authors other than the slightly sneering “BNF”?
Is BNF sneering? Have the connotations changed over time? I don’t usually perceive a negative connotation when I see it used, but I may just be oblivious.
Though, given that you think it does, I now feel worse about the fact that you once called me a BNF! ;)
That zombie original thing was really good! (IDK if "ask" is the best way to communicate this. There doesn't seem to be a "reply" button? Is reblogging & commenting a better option? TUMBLR ETIQUTTE CONFSES M
Thank you! And yeah, Tumblr is stupid? Reblogging-with-comment is the closest analog to commenting, for the most part.
A reply function does exist, and I’ve got replies enabled, but 1) there’s a tight character limit, and 2) only people you’re following or who have been following you for [arbitrary length of time I forget] can reply.
There’s also an “answer” function, which lets anyone write a reply, but it 1) must be turned on manually for each post, 2) is only available if you end the post or its title with a question mark, 3) can only be used a limited number of times per day, and 4) also has a tight character limit.
Tumblr!
Replies!
