The 351ย cuย in (5,752ย cc) engine had two versions: one was 250ย hp (186ย kW) and the other was 290ย hp (216ย kW). The 390ย cuย in (6,391ย cc) engine for the GTs was available with 320ย hp (239ย kW). Mercury produced a version of the Cyclone for NASCAR called the Cyclone Spoiler II. Mercury also added a new model to the Cyclone line: the Cobra Jet (CJ). The Cobra Jet's engine was a 428ย cuย in (7,014ย cc) which generated 335ย hp (250ย kW).
