"Without a healthy mind, I would probably be on bed rest in a #psychiatry hospital receiving professional attention. So why won't I be grateful and thankful? At the beginning of the year, I posted something on my Instagram timeline: "Take purposeful steps to make this year and crisis-free year for you" This year has been a crisis-free year for me mentally.  I have had to deal with tough, stressful situations that could have knocked me out of my mind, but somehow I am still here in sound mind! I am so, so, soooo grateful to God for that." Kindly visit www.idaretoblossom.org to read the rest of the article. KINDLY CALM ME DOWN by MEGHAN TRAINOR
I should start off by saying that music is therapeutic, research has given us facts to back this with. Music is important to the vitality of life; even mere humming is creating music. Picture a wailing baby; and he hears a soft sound, initially he or she stops to listen, at this point I usually think what is this baby thinking? I reply myself with âthe baby is trying to decipher if this sound is soothing and can trying to figure out if his or her current problem is bigger than the soundâ. Most times the baby is hungry or uncomfortable or sleepy, the sound usually conquers the wailing especially when they are sleepy, and we all know that when it comes to hunger no amount of sounds can quench those pangs. Lol. I like Meghan Trainor as a person because she is so comfortable in her figure and prides herself especially through her music. The first time I listened to âAll About That Bassâ I was like âwho is this babe!â. The song that prompted me to download her Thank You album wasnât any song on the album but âDear Future Husbandâ. I said to myself âSheâs not my typical go-to-artist, but I love her creativityâ. My favorite track on the album is âGoosebumpsâ, but this post is on âKindly Calm Me Downâ. Once in a while we all experience intense days, fortunately for some, they can âsnapâ out of it and get back to ânormalâ, the reality is that some donât. listening to the song the first time, I thought it was a love song, but then I listened again, and a whole new perspective jumped in my mind. âThis song would be good for people with hypomania, people who experience manic episodes frequentlyâ I had said to myself, but everyone can relate to this song. The first verse sounds like a poem⌠So cold, alone Could you be my blanket? Surround my bones When my heart feels naked No strength too weak I could use some saving And your loveâs so strong Like a pill I take it The chorus is what I relate with constantly: When my world gets loud, could you make it quiet down? When my head, it pounds, could you turn down all the sound? If I lay in pain, by my side would you stay? If I need you now, would you kindly calm me down? People battling with mental illness (generally all illness except contagious ones though, lol) need to be surrounded with strong people. Sometimes you donât even have to say anything to them, a hug speaks a thousand words. Most times when I fall into depression, I donât even know how to explain how I feel, if you ask me âtell me whatâs wrong?â âI just say you wonât understandâ, but my mind is screaming âjust tell me everything would be okay, just sit close to me, donât judge me, just hold me, just hug meâ. I hope someone reading this is there for someone who is struggling, there to kindly calm someone who is anxious, âThere are million unspoken words behind every Iâm fineâ. Written by Sola Ogunbiyi
