Me: *wakes up around noon, dissociates until 4 in the afternoon*
Me: well the day passed so quickly it MUST have been fun and productive!
It's final, my group for the Event Organizing Class has chosen mental hospital as the main concept for the milktea convention we are planning to do. While the entire proposal is solid, creative even, as expected from students deom the PR/Advertising Dept, I cannot get behind the main concept. At all
First, what the actual fuck? Those two arent even related. Okay maybe if we reach far enough (It was the "healing" factor in the tea yet I cannot disgest) but in the end, the entire thing is fuck up. They are literrally romanticizing mental illness, flaunting "craziness" as a positive, unique trait. Yes, yes you are so crazy, so broken, so wild, so loco, so goddamn difference from others, pretty little snowflakes now let come here and meet your kind. Just..no.They dont know a thing about it. They never have to question since when they started having social anxiety, since when suicidal thought appeared. They never have to go to see a counsellor and feel relief to be able to name those baggage on their shoulder. They never have to stop themselves from relasping into unhealthy coping method. They dont freeze in front of any hostility encounters. They dont hate themselves because of all the things above. They just dont, yet they treat the matter so lightly
There is no amount of milktea can fix a broken person. Not to mention most of the population in my country still has prejudice view toward mental ill people, and mental hospital is still be stigmatized and its patients are looked down upon.It isnt funny at all. It isnt cool or trendy, it's downright offensive.
Sadly, several group members thought it was a "cool concept". Never in my life I have facepalmed so hard.
Second, I want to kick myself in the ass for not rejecting it, for not being more vocal about my own opinion. I could have been heard, I could have prevented it if I could produce more convincing evidence and backup plans but I remembered the girl who preached the idea and how she was adamant about it made me uneasy. I was scared. My brain shut off . I was hesitated and my voice was muted. I was a accomplice eventhough I know it was so fucking wrong, and myself felt icky about it.Still I let it happen, just because I could not handle confrontation or a simple debate for once in my entire cowardice life (freeze reaction is a bitch anyway) And I dont want to voice my own problems to get my view across anyway, it feels manipulative and unprofesstional
Case closed. This proved how much of a failure I am in socialising and how much I need to improve.
Oh god, I hope my instructor prevent this before it blows up
