The term 'YN' and 'you' is used several times in the fanfic for better grammatical use, my first time writing something like this, so please be gentle. <3
She sits up quickly in bed with a cold sweat running down her forehead, looking disoriented as she tries to identify the dark environment around her.
āShhh honey, it was just a dream.ā A male voice, from the other side of the bed, approaches her comfortingly.
āWā¦wait-ā the girl tries to push the man away, still confused and tired, but the hand she uses to push him away is soon enveloped by his warm comforting hand.
āI'm here, sweetheart, you're safe and sound here.ā He pulls her into a hug and makes her lie back down on the bed, pulling fluffy and warm blankets up to her neck. āIt was just a nightmare, huh?ā
Kain continues to hug her, caressing YN affectionately, small circles on her back and a warm hand in her hair as he wraps her protectively.
āL-listenā¦.-ā she tries to break free but he quickly stops her, pressing a kiss on her lips to shut her up.
āShh my love, you can talk about your nightmare later, okay? If not, you'll keep remembering and you won't be able to sleep anymore.ā He gives her a few more kisses on the cheek āLet's go to sleep, okay?ā
āYou're safe here, YN. It's okay. It was just a nightmare. I'm here.ā He continues to whisper sweet nothings in her ear, and then he starts to softly sing a strange song.
āNana babyā¦ā¦ Cuca's coming to get youā¦.
Daddy went to the farm, mommy went to workā¦ā¦
āYou're safe here, YN. It's okay. It was just a nightmare. I'm hereā
He repeats. And again. And again. Even after you reluctantly fall asleep.
āNana babyā¦ā¦ Cuca's coming to get youā¦.
Daddy went to the farm, mommy went to workā¦ā¦
YN dreams with quick flashes of a disgusting creature, a rotten smell, a metallic smell⦠and Kain's smile. The young woman wakes up calmly a few hours later with the sun rising and the smell of food coming from the door⦠is he preparing something?
Oh, he was already ready.
"Good morning, dear!" he says, entering the room with the bamboo breakfast tray.
Kain places the tray on the dresser next to the bed gracefully and walks to her side, giving a soft kiss on the top of her head and then gently putting her tangled hair in a bun so she can drink her coffee properly. "How did you sleep, love?"
YN looks at him confused, not really knowing what happened or not⦠but decides to keep quiet about it.
"I slept⦠well, I guess?" she laughs, giving him a soft kiss on the cheek "But I don't remember falling asleep. What happened?"
Kain holds back a smug smile, choosing to focus on the feeling of YN's lips on his skin.
"Oh, sweetheart. You fell asleep on the couch yesterday, we were watching the movie when you fell asleep. I brought you here so you could sleep better in the room.ā
āAnd⦠I was already wearing pajamas? I donāt remember that.ā The young woman looks at the cotton pajamas, a white American pajama set with little pink hearts. It was a coupleās promotion, so Kain was wearing pink pajamas with white hearts.
āNo, my baby, you were wearing that polka dot dress but I changed into pajamas.ā
After all, he always liked to play house.
āOk, my love, thank you for taking care of meā
āEverything for you, sweetheart.ā He hugs her and goes to her closet, choosing the clothes for todayās work day, a habit he did when YN was late or simply wanted to be one less thing to worry about.
As soon as he finishes choosing the clothes, Kain decides to iron them while YN gets out of bed and goes to take a shower, locking the door for safety. In a long bath, YN tries to remember what really happened the day before, noticing that she feels slightly sore and tired, with her head too heavy for her body. The holographic bubbles mixed with the memories that she tried to connect in an almost random and disorganized wayā¦..
I took a bathā¦ā¦ and I was happyā¦.
I got a promotion at workā¦
There was a pink cakeā¦ā¦ and some music playingā¦.
YN gets out of the bath and grabs the pastel pink towel to dry herself.
I watched a movie, but I don't know what it was aboutā¦.
I was with Kain in the living room, cuddlingā¦..
And the boss⦠had she sent messages?
The young woman takes a brush to comb her hair, noticing that it is more tangled than usualā¦ā¦
Yeah.
She had sent messages.
I saw the messages when I got out of the bathā¦. but what was it about?
As she dries her hair, she smiles to herself. It must be the photos from yesterday's party! How silly of me, I didn't even like the photos and shared them! Let me see now~
Wait⦠photos?
With a breath of realization the girl remembers, a deja vu connecting the loose memories and she holds her breath: the messages from the boss- ex-boyfriend- three weeks- fear- the perfumed path- rose petals- pink cake- panic- film- cell phone- door- Kain- rotten smell. But what happened for her to forget everything? YN has a script of what happened yesterday, but for some reason she doesn't remember the main key: Why was she afraid?
She continues combing her hair and notices that the back of her head is strangely sore, and not the kind that comes from sleeping badly⦠but the kind that comes from a blow. She lets go of the comb and with her hand she feels her head looking for the source of the pain, and finds a lump forming. Silently moaning in pain, she wonders how this lump got there. Kain is so careful with her, how could this have happened? YN does a quick skincare routine and thinks that if something has happened, she can check it on her cell phone.
āEverything is ready, honey! Your clothes are on the bed!ā
āThank you, love!ā she answers to Kainās voice. Hearing her answers, he takes light steps to leave the room.
As she leaves the bathroom, she feels that there is something strange, like a hole under the carpet. But that's not important now, not when she sees the clothes he's put out: an office chic look, there's not a single wrinkle or crease in the whole outfit, a sign of Kain's care, and there's a sweet smell on the clothes that makes YN feel like she's on cloud nine again, she picks up the clothes and brings them to her nose to delight in the sweet scent of fabric softener. Who would pay attention to these details about her? He's so perfect <3
What more could she want?
"Oh, how I love my boyfriend-"
Boss: YN THIS IS NOT YOUR BOYFRIEND.
Like a painful deja vu, YN remembers exactly the messages from her boss as she struggles to know if it was all a dream or not.
Boss: KAIN DIED IN AN ACCIDENT THREE WEEKS AGO.
She can see the messages on the bright screen of her phone, it was before she went down for dinner. She remembers feeling her heart racing as she tried to contain her despair. She remembers a terrible image of Kain in a car accident.
Boss: RUN AWAY IMMEDIATELY!
āOh⦠fuck.ā She curses in a low tone as she frantically searches for her cell phone in the room, the bathroom, and the dressers next to the bed. There is only one way to confirm, and she needs to find her cell phone. She has two options now: If this is a big misunderstanding from yesterday's horror movies, she will give Kain a big kiss for even doubting him, but if what the boss says is true⦠then she has to get out of there as quickly as possible.
In a hurry, she changes into the clothes he chose and for the first time in two weeks she walk straight ahead without looking at the pink bag Kain gave her. It accompanied her every day, a beautiful pink quilted bag with gold and pearl details, but it is small. Despite being a work bag, YN hardly carries anything other than her lip gloss, her cell phone, and other things, but this time, she needs to go further and chooses the black bag she had bought for herself. The bag was black and also padded, bigger and more spacious, with silver details and chains.
Before you freak out, let's get the facts straight like a logical and respectable woman.
She says to herself as she chooses silver earrings to match the beautiful silver necklace she is wearing. YN knows very well that she can't just go to the police station and accuse the man of being⦠I don't know, what crime is he committing? Anyway, until she proves that the man she is with in the house is not her boyfriend and a potentially dangerous person, she needs to keep a cool head. The police might think that SHE is the crazy one and humiliate the poor girl at the police station, belittling all her fears and anxieties.
The boss is my witness.
The evidence is on the cell phone.
ā¦..And where is the cell phone?
She leaves the room with her bag and quickly goes down the stairs, alert, trying not to breathe too much of the air fresheners while trying to behave normally. Unfortunately, she misses a step or two, causing her to trip⦠but before she hits the ground, strong arms protect her from the fall.
āI could ask if it hurt when you fell from the sky, but⦠the stairs are closer, aren't they, angel?ā Her boyfriend's voice is playful, but his arms touch something that gives him goosebumps, and not in a good way. āWhy⦠are you in such a hurry, my love? Be careful going down the stairs.ā He tries to hide it as he helps her up.
āI'm looking for my cell phone, er⦠honey. Didn't you see it?ā
Act normal, act normal, act normalā¦.
āIt's charging in the living room.ā Kain simply points to the outlet next to the couch
YN hurriedly finds herself on the couch, grabbing her cell phone and feeling a momentary relief at the thought that she would finally find the answer she was looking for. Her heart beats rapidly as she searches through the conversations with her boss.
Please tell me what's going on!
Boss: YN, can you format the document you sent just now? On page 3 you need to add the details of the client's project.
YN: Sure, I'll send it to you in 5 minutes.
The messages have been deleted.
The most recent one is from three days ago.
Her heart stops. Her breath catches in her throat. Her blood pressure drops to her feet. YN can't believe what she was seeing. She searches through her gallery and checks to make sure the message wasn't on other apps.
She feels like she's right on top of the hole the rug is hiding, but she can't remove the rug yet or she'll fall in herself. Kain watches her analytically from the stairs, still trying to decipher her emotions, wanting to get inside her head to know what she's thinking, why did she change her purse today? Why the silver necklace? He bites the inside of his cheek and tries to sound as normal as possible.
"Did you find your cell phone, sweetheart?" His smile is charming and irresistible, but it doesn't reach his blue eyes.
He's the one who turned it off.
You take a deep breath and hold your wide eyes, slowly getting up and going to the door "Yes⦠it's charged to 100%. I'm going to work now, I'll be back at night, okay"
Kain's smile fades "At night? You know I can't stand being away from you for so long." He says sweetly, leaning against the wall "Couldn't you come back before sunset? We could do something togetherā¦ā
āYou know my boss is very strict, Kain. I canāt ask her for an afternoon off.ā Yn gives a weak smile, she could ask her boss for an afternoon off but she didnāt want to spend the afternoon with this strange man, now that she knows that the man is not the real Kain she sees him in a different light.
āOh yeah? Maybe sheāll be in a good mood today.ā Kain kisses Ynās hand quickly, but unlike usual, thereās a dark tone in his words
āY-yeah, maybe sheāll be fine today. I have to go-ā even though YN opens the door and tries to get out of the corner, Kainās hand still holds her tightly
āArenāt you forgetting something, dear?ā Kain looks at her with an intense and possessive look
YN is slightly terrified when she looks into his eyes, thereās a strange atmosphere in the place. āI⦠ar⦠I ā¦ā¦ā she looks at him anxiously and the motorcycle outside waiting for her, and tries to pull her hand away once more, however, Kain continues to hold on tightly.
āI love you.ā He chuckles, lightening the mood and pressing another kiss on the back of her hand, but still doesnāt let go, waiting for his belovedās response.
āā¦.. I⦠I love you too.ā Even with hesitant words, YN manages to answer her boyfriend, sealing the promise and completing the daily ritual.
Feeling satisfied, Kain finally lets go of her hand and allows her to go to work, waiting for the motorcycle to completely disappear from sight before entering the house and preparing something special.
At work, YN feels a horrible sensation of being watched, but how can that be, the work environment is something safe, right? As soon as the break is allowed, she runs to the bathroom, locking herself in one of the last stalls and opening an anonymous tabā¦. as a precautionā¦. to try to understand what Kain is and how she can escape this situation.
āA skinwalker is a mythological creature that steals the skin of its victims and disguises itself as themā¦ā
āā¦ā¦ an extremely malicious and sadistic creature with its victimsā¦ā
āDONāT BELIEVE ANYTHING THE CREATURE SAYS! The creature will say anything to get the victim.ā
āThe creature hardly gives up on its target. In two or three days it gets what it wants.ā
āThe creature leaves no witnesses, so if you are the target of a supposed skinwalker, flee the place immediately and surround yourself with people. It will not be able to attack you for fear of being seen.ā
āIf you cannot get away, use silver objects to protect yourselfā¦ā
āRUN AWAY IMMEDIATELY!ā
Holy shit.
In life, there are times when you curse in anger or frustration for being in a complicated situation, but YN sighed in such a way that all her bones roared in unison āoh⦠fuck.ā While she was still searching for more information so focused that she didn't realize that she was the only person in the bathroom and that the lights were starting to fadeā¦
āYN~ā a voice hummed as the echo of the bathroom did its job
YN remained silent, mentally thinking that the person would leave, however, elegant and slow footsteps in high heels echoed through the bathroom until they reached the last stall, the girl recognized her boss's black heels and smiled in relief.
āOh Boss, it's you!ā she sighed in relief and threw her cell phone into her black bag āI really needed to talk to you! About those messages you sent, you know?ā she started talking nonstop trying to get the subject moving, relieved to finally have someone to talk to about this and a potential help.
As soon as YN opened the door she was faced with a strange sight, to say the least. She analyzed her boss from head to toe: Her black heels were tight, her clothes were so wrinkled that it looked like she had just rolled out of bed with them, her hair was in a messy hairstyle⦠and she found familiar blue eyes.
No..... no no no no no no......please no....
āYes, dear? What did you want to talk to me about?ā she smiles uncannily with her red lipstick smudged and poorly drawn, something that the perfectionist boss would never allow.
YN takes a step back, the boss takes a step forward.
āBossā¦. are you okay?ā there is a strange glow in her eyes, like a reflection that shouldn't be there.
I'm in a place with peopleā¦. he can't hurt me here.
āā¦. I'm fine, my dear." The boss says with a frozen smile and an impossibly straight and rigid posture, her voice is like a musician trying to play an instrument for the first time, testing out the tones and tones hesitantly, like a robot would slowly carry the answer āI really wanted to⦠talk to you.ā
Yn walks past her anxiously towards the washroom, washing her hands and fixing her hair while looking in the mirror at the boss trying to get out of there as quickly as possible. āYes, boss?ā
The figure slowly turns to YN, the sound of high heels echoing with each step that approaches the young woman āYou're making a mistake, YN.ā
āā¦.er, what am I doing wrong?ā as she dries her hands YN turns to the other woman anxiously.
The boss continues with the same frozen smile.
āYourā¦silver necklace.ā The figure points to the necklace around YN's neck āIt's against company rules to wear that kind of accessory here.ā
āThat necklace? But I've already worn it be-ā
āNo.ā The boss opens her hand and YN feels her body freeze with what she says next āI came to collect the necklace, you must comply with the company's rules.ā
āI can keep it in my bag so⦠I don't want to bother you with such simple things.ā The girl holds the necklace and slowly moves away from the boss.
āNo.ā The boss says in a more authoritative tone āI came to collect the necklace.ā She approaches the girl with her hand still outstretched.
He can't take my necklace⦠but⦠what happens if the lady gets in touch with him? The website didn't say this part...
YN nods slowly and takes off the silver necklace, handing it to the boss who closes her hand immediately before the girl could change her mind in the last seconds.
āGood girl, darling.ā The figure approaches until their chests almost touch, when she notices that YN was looking at the door and not at her, the woman gently grabs YN's chin, making her look into her...his blue eyes.
āYou know, darlingā¦.. you work a lot, you know? I'm very proud of you, that's why I'm giving you the afternoon off so you can spend it with your boyfriend.ā
āMy boyfriendā¦.?ā
āOf course, he's such a perfect man for you, isn't he? And he loves you so much, YN, he'd do anything for you.ā
Come on, is he advertising himself well?
āā¦. yeah, he'sā¦. like a dream to me.ā The boss widens her eyes at YN's words.
āA perfect dream, isn't it? You don't want to wake up and live a nightmare, do you?ā
Yn just nods and stays quiet, feeling the implicit threat in her boss's words on her skin. She grabs her black bag tightly and says goodbye to her boss, leaving the bathroom while the lights still flicker. Maybe if she had been brave enough to wait for her boss to leave, YN would have seen how much she was staggering in her daily high heels.
He's here! Why didn't the silver work?
And I still had the big mouth to talk to the creature from the messages!
She sighs again and again, she quickly leaves the company. Who would she run to for help? She's new in town, few family members know, and involving anyone would be too dangerous⦠what do I do?
Where would I run to?
The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown, she remembers someone saying this and to add to it she completes:
This kind of fear is like a snake that eats piece by piece of your body without a specific order, today it devours your toenail and tomorrow - if it feels like it- it can devour your stomach entirelyallowing the acids in her stomach, fueled by anxiety and tension, to season the meat so she can swallow it with more satisfaction.
Driving distractedly, YN's gaze remembers Mr. Thomas's flower shop⦠and for now, this will be her refuge until she thinks of a plan. The flower shop is quiet, only with old music in the background while Mr. Thomas, the good old man, is preparing a bouquetā¦
"Oh, Miss YN, are you back already?" He greets her from afar
The young girl feels so lost now, not knowing what to do, she wanted it all to be a big misunderstanding so she could go back to the floating pink world she was in, but the knowledge that something non-human would be ready to kill her when she returns makes her little feet stay firmly on the ground, makes her take slow and distracted steps that take her straight to the alstroemerias, the same ones from yesterday, and points to the flowers.
āā¦. I'll have a bouquet of those, Mr. Thomas.ā In a monotonous and almost empty tone, she asks, making the florist stop what he was doing and asks her to repeat, fearing that his age is already getting the best of his attributes
āWhat did you say, YN? What flowers will you want?ā
āThe alstroemeriasā¦.. make a pretty bouquet, okay?ā She takes robotic steps to the counter, waiting for the elderly man to make the bouquet. She trusts that it will be a beautiful bouquet of alstroemeriasā¦. but for some reason she doesn't even know why she chose those flowers. The elderly man is experienced and knows that each flower has its meaning, but mainly the emotion of the person choosing the flower and the bouquet says more than they realize.
Mr. Thomas picks the best flowers from the astromelia and looks for some more to make a beautiful bouquet, at least to cheer up the poor girl. The old man takes the flowers to the counter to choose the wrapping and some messages and finds YN sitting, simply staring at the floor with her head down, distracted, with an anxious look on her face.
āYN, what paper do you want for the wrapping? The usual?ā
Why hasnāt he killed me yet?
āYN? Are you listening to me, little one?ā
Why didnāt he pretend to be my boyfriend⦠treat me so well? What are his intentions?
āYN!ā in a louder but still soft tone the old man catches the girlās attention
āO-oh, sorry Mr. Thomas⦠Iām just thinking about things. The wrapping paper will beā¦ā she canāt think of anything, her mind wandering between unanswered questions and anxiety in her chest āWhy donāt you choose? I know youāll look for what best matches the flowers.ā The girl smiles and pushes the decision to the florist who sighs worriedly
āOh dearā¦. what's going on with you? Are you feeling okay?ā
Please don't ask me that⦠not todayā¦
āI'm fine but⦠I'm feeling⦠stressed. Work stuff, you know?ā She pulls a hair behind her ear, as if she were tidying up whatever mental mess she was apparently having.
The florist narrows his wrinkled eyes at the girl, reading her like a book, then he does the most comforting thing YN has received all day. He approaches her, placing a hand over hers, with deep empathy and genuine concern that makes YN's heart melt, finding a true safe haven in the words of the old man, who looks at her as if she were his own granddaughter.
āIt's him, isn't it? What did he do to make you like this?ā
āOh Mr. Thomasā¦ā speechless, the girl lets her eyes water as she stubbornly looks up, preventing some tears from coming out
āWhat did he do to you, YN? You were so fine yesterday⦠and today you seem so anxious and sad.ā He softly tells the story of the events, careful not to scare or scare the girl
Think of an excuse, YN, quicklyā¦..
ā....Remember what I said yesterday about how he was drunk and high?ā the real Kain āWellā¦. yesterday heā¦.. yesterday he came home under the influence, you know? Acting strangeā¦ā¦ā
āDid he hit you?ā
āNo⦠he hasnāt arrived yet.ā The girl whispers almost inaudibly as she thinks about the possibilities
ā⦠And, are you afraid of him?ā
The girl, with no more strength to speak, closes her mouth and nods quickly as her heart races.
āIām going to get something for you, keep an eye on the store, okay?ā he whispers softly as he walks to get something from somewhere in the store.
Moments later a female voice is heard entering the flower shop.
āGood afternoon, Mr. Thomas!ā
YN had never been a religious person, but she could thank God for sending Sister Martha at that moment. In a new city and trying to find independence away from her family, there were few people she knew and had made sincere friends with. Coincidentally, a childhood friend had recently become a nun and was being assigned to the church in the new city. The sister was wearing her church uniform, her curious eyes searching for the elderly figure to pick up some flower order for a temple decoration.
āOh, YN! What a pleasant surprise!ā the woman smiled immediately upon seeing YN at the counter, giving her friend a tight hug while bringing an air of purity and warmth with her āLong time no see, girl!ā
āYes, Martha⦠I missed you so much!ā YN hugs back and lets her friend's genuine warmth invade her. After a few moments of hugging, her friend slowly pulls away and looks at YN with a worried look.
āWhat happened, YN? How are you?ā
āNothing, sisā¦ā
āThere's no point in hiding it from me, tell me what happened!ā
If it were anyone else, Martha would have talked better in a friendly and non-invasive way, but being Yn, she doesn't mince her words.
āLast week I saw you and you looked like a model, why are you so⦠like that? Who's the funeral?ā
My.... Martha, it's going to be my funeral.
āIt was him, Marthaā¦ā she reluctantly confesses, avoiding her friend's gaze.
āHim? Who is he? Oooohā¦. your boyfriend.ā Sister Martha had never liked the real Kain and even after his return with YN was nothing but flowers and wonders, she was very suspicious. āYour demon boyfriend.ā
An idea popped into YN's head, like hope being born again. As a teenager, before becoming a nun, Martha was a curious and mischievous teenager, who looked for everything, including mythologies, magic, witchcraft, and the dark world that happens under the bed when children go to sleep. Nowadays, she fights spiritual wars, dealing with evil and good in a very physical and literal way. Maybe, just maybe⦠she can speak in some code so that her sister can understand.
"I'll invite you to exorcise him at my house then.ā She jokes but knows that Sister Marta is seeing through her and YN hopes she reads the subtext
āI'll need a whole team to remove the evil inside Kain's body⦠that boy of yours is a complicated man.ā She jokes
"Complicated defines him well."
The two laugh a little, lightening the mood, but Martha asks again in a more serious tone this time, whispering to her friend like secrets in a confessional......
āYou⦠are you serious. Do you really think he's possessed by a demon?ā
āI think he's something⦠worse than a demon.ā You sigh worriedly and anxiously āit seems like someone else⦠you know?ā
āYNā¦ā the young nun widens her eyes, she has a slight idea of āāwhat her friend is talking about but knows that the whole team doesn't have the capacity to solve this, it's something extremely dangerous and if not done right it could have bloody consequences. This should be dealt with by sorcerers, but YN needs something quick to deal with it
"Oh...."
āOh my friend, I will pray for you. I promisse.ā In an apopogetic tone with her mouth half closed, the nun apologizes as she walks away from the store, breaking YNās heart and all the hope that had sprouted when she also understands the subtext of the sentence:
You are on your own.
The girl remains paralyzed, sitting on the bench so as not to lose her balance. She cannot think about how helpless and vulnerable she feels, as if she is in a philosophical debate about whether she should just accept it.
5 seconds later the nun returns to the store, looking agitated and anxious as she looks for YN, the girl feels the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end.
āYN!ā she looks at the door then turns quickly, holding a package of leaves in the girlās hand
āMyrtle. Myrtle tea - it's good forā¦. the cardiovascular system, for the skin, it's also good for stomach aches - andā¦. headaches andā¦ā¦ā she searches for more answers while looking anxiously between the door and Yn's shaken face āTake this. It'll be good for you.ā
The sister hugs Yn tightly and whispers seriously in her earāRun away. Take this and get out of here.ā
The nun still speaks loudly as she says goodbye again in an agitated manner āWe'll be praying for you.ā
YN is speechless with the sudden change in attitude and wonders if it was a message from God or if the nun saw something strange outside. Thoughtful, she doesn't notice when the old forester approaches with the colored papers for the bouquet and a surprise between them.
āHere you go, this paper will certainly enhance the tones of the flowers.ā
āOh, thank you very much!ā
āYn⦠I have something else for you.ā
The old man puts a gun in YN's hand as he explains seriously, "They're just two silver bullets. One to distract him when that kid wants to threaten you and get out of line⦠the other for when he thinks you're a tough guy and you're putting your foot down on him."
Me⦠kill him? Are you telling me to kill him?
"Mr. Thomas, I don't think it's necessaryā¦"
"There's no point in running away, girl."
He says so seriously that YN's smile falls and she looks at him with more questions than answers.
"You broke up the first time, and you got back together. You're trying to make things easier for him, and you're going to break up again, and then you're going to get back together again." He sighs painfully
"The cycle will only end when someone dies⦠and I don't want it to be you, girl."
The old florist was fed up with seeing rude boys pick beautiful flowers one day, and their parents come to buy funeral arrangements the next, apologies that turn into funeral invitations, beautiful flowers being crushed by ill-intentioned people, every day. Each story has a specific situation, but the cycle is the same: the girl dies in the end.
āWith a man so obsessed with you, he wonāt stop until he gets what he wants. Heāll go after you to the ends of the earth, YN.ā The florist places his gentle hand on Ynās hand and closes it, making the girl accept the gun firmly āThis is for you to defend yourself⦠and end this cycleā
How ironic, from a place so full of life, YN left with two deadly objects in her bag and a beautiful bouquet in her hands.
--------
Unfortunately, the way from the florist to her boyfriendās house is not very long and YN drives the motorcycle slowly as if she wanted to buy more time for the inevitable. In nature, the mother puts food in the mouths of the little birds because they cannot feed themselves and from one day to the next they are pushed off the branch to learn how to fly. YN feels exactly like this, her boyfriend took care of everything for her, from a hair out of place to more complex situations, in two weeks Kain had such a strong effect on YN's mind that she depended on him for everything and felt like she was floating in the clouds, without any thought or instinct for survival⦠now she feels pushed off the branch, struggling with her little wings to keep from crashing to the ground and fighting for survival.
When she reaches the door of the house with her heart beating fast, she realizes that she has no plan or strategy for this situation, just an instinct not to die.
It's him or me.
It's better to face madness with a plan than to sit still and let it take you in pieces. - the little voice in her head advises again
She could go back to her own house, but he would follow her there. She could go somewhere full of people, but eventually the two of them would come face to face. It could be at any moment. It's just a matter of time to postpone the inevitable, the anxiety was eating her up inside, devouring her stomach while her mind fought not to sink into this storm, looking for possibilities in which it would come out on top.
Fuck this. Fuck you. Fuck Kain. Fuck everything.
She knocks on the door with a blank look and prepares herself for the worst, clutching her bag tightly.
Is this how the victims facing the guillotine felt? A straight line to death?
5 minutes later, the door remains closed and YN decides that she will open the door herself and enter the house.
"Excuse meā¦. Kain?" She leaves the bouquet in the living room while following the scent coming from the kitchen. She looks for him around the house and comes across a breathtaking scene: The handsome man is wearing an apron again, humming some music with his headphones while preparing something in the kitchen.
āL⦠is for the way you look at meā he stirs the pan with something gelatinous, completely immersed in the music.
āO⦠is for the only one I seeā¦ā almost like a spontaneous dance. Kain takes a tray from the fridge and unmolds little hearts and places them on a crystal tray.
āV⦠is very very⦠extraordinary.ā
"E⦠is even more than anyone that you adore canā¦.." her boyfriend pours the appetizing syrup over the little hearts, it's a bright red, a mouth-watering syrup. But not as much as Kain, he's wearing a formal white shirt with sleeves rolled up to the elbow exposing his strong arms and jeans that are tighter on the thighs, his locks are messy in an attractive way. For a minute her instinct tells her to bite him all over, mark every little bit of that juicy body and forget any stupid plans. His eyes widen when they see that his beloved has already arrived, taking off his headphones and meeting her at the kitchen door.
"Oh, my dear! Are you here yet?" he wipes his hands on a dish towel and takes off his apron, and hugs her, a smell of sugar mixes with his irresistible cologne.
"ā¦yes, yes⦠what are you doing?" YN takes a moment to compose herself
āIt was supposed to be a surpriseeeeee~ā he whines, placing his head on her shoulder āI know youāre really stressed because of work, so I prepared a recipe for you to try.ā
He leads her to the kitchen counter hand in hand before she can protest and takes one of the sweets from the tray, cooling it with a breath and placing it in front of YNās mouth.
āOpen your mouth, sweetheart~ā with a hoarse voice he asks, placing the sweet in his girlfriendās mouth āItās delicious, huh? I prepared it with you in mind.ā He whispers, keeping his eyes intense in her eyes, he licks his lips when she lets out a small sound of satisfaction
āIt isā¦. but what did you put in here?ā she feels her body go slowly limp and a strange heat starting to tingle through her body
āNothing.ā He grabs another sweet and eats it too, staring at YN as he holds her against the kitchen counter with strong arms āJust something to make you more excited⦠more relaxedā he squeezes her thighs, bringing her closer as he whispers in a sultry tone
āLet me take care of you, darling~ā Kain presses a slow kiss to the girl's jaw
āYou look so tense⦠what happened?ā He could feel Yn's breathing intensifying, his own heart beating voraciously trying to keep his desire under control, needing to taste her once more, see her go crazy once more...
"W-wait, Kainā¦" with one hand on YN's delicate back, Kain pressed her tightly against him, taking her lips in a hungry and possessive kiss, frowning in desire, feeling the shivers on his body intensify
The juicy syrup was already delicious on its own, but when the creature put aphrodisiacs in it, it got even better. Everything was going well, everything was very good until the nosy boss spilled the beans, he dealt with it in his own way, but YN still remembered what happened the night before, he didn't know what exactly⦠but it was enough for her to move away from him unconsciously, wanting to be independent with that damned black bag, looking for answers to questions she shouldn't even be thinking about and worse⦠maybe she was planning to run away. He would never allow that.
The couple pulls away for air with YN biting his lower lip, making him let out a low moan āOh my darlingā¦. did you know I love you so much?ā He presses their bodies even closer, practically glued together as his hand wanders inside her shirt, caressing the soft skin of her belly
"You're so beautifulā¦" he bites YN's ear in a hoarse voice "Did you know I would do anything for you, huh?"
"A-anything?"
"Yes, anything for you, my sweetie~" he goes back to kissing her with desire, his body trembling and writhing to touch every part of her, wanting more of her delicious love, sucking on her desire, wanting to get under her skin, molding her as if they were one flesh, isn't it beautiful?
He was hungry for her.
Every time she resisted a little as if she was coming to her senses, Kain would take another candy and put it in her mouth, and another⦠and another⦠until he was drunk with love in the valley of her breasts, with his pants getting tighter every second rubbing between YN's legsā¦..
"Oh my sweet Ynā¦. you're all mine huh?" he bites her neck "All of it. Heart and mind. Right?" he rubs harder
āI'm all yours, you know? All yoursā¦. yoursā¦ā he murmurs a few more times in a low, hoarse voice
āI'm crazy about youā¦. I love you so muchā¦ā Kain's chest rises and falls hard, his breathing is heated as he moans lightly, his pupils extremely dilated as he observes YN's reactions, his gaze clouded by extraordinary sensations
āYou love me too, don't you Darling?ā smiling like a fool, Kain cups her cheeks making her look at him, it takes her a while to answer or even realize that he's talking to her āYN.ā
āHmm?ā
āDo you love me?ā this time his voice is more serious, hurt that she didn't answer at first. Is the spell being broken?
āā¦. I⦠love you, Kain.ā She closes her eyes and answers, it was a painful truth and that in seconds, it would be nothing more than memories.
āI love you too, Yn,ā he hugs her again affectionately, suffocating her with sweet words and his presence, āYou donāt know how much.ā
The fire dissipates soon after with such an intense makeout, leaving the ashes of what it consumed. YN feels disgusted and mentally tired, as if she had been trapped again.
Get a grip, YN, letās go⦠thereās a killer in the house.
She washes her face and as if the neurons of audacity were being connected, as if the survival instinct spoke faster, she has an interesting idea.
āHoney, what flowers are those?ā the male voice asks from the living room, looking with disgust at the beautiful bouquet of alstroemerias on the sofa.
YN turns on the fire and puts water to boil, putting some myrtle leaves in the water, making the smell slowly spread throughout the house. With a mischievous smile, she asks in a sweet voice.
āHoneey, bring it here to leave it there in the living room, please. I'll be right there.ā He mentally curses the flowers, coughing and sneezing a lot as he grabs a nearby cloth and wraps his hands in it, taking the flowers to the other side of the room while YN stands at the kitchen door, debating internally whether he should continue with the plan in mind as she watches the scene.
He heads to the living room, sitting on the couch and gesturing for her to follow him. Meanwhile, his expression gently closes, showing a slight irritation with the flowers⦠and smelling a different scent in the air making him feel unbalanced, but he can't say what it is yet.
"Let's talk a little, my love. I feel like there's something bothering you."
"Yes, love⦠there's something I've been thinking about for a few days." She sits in the chair opposite him, her posture straight and rigid and her hands folded politely on her lap.
She mentally tells herself that she is strong and brave, and that this is not scaring her, when in fact her insides are screaming at her to get out of there and that this is just a serious conversation that every normal couple has.
Kain watches her with an expression of apparent interest and curiosity. He crosses his arms, his expression slightly closed as he listens to her speech.
"Oh, I'm curious. What were you thinking, love?"
What if I just break up with him and run away?
The handsome man waits expectantly for her to speak, although there is a slight tension noticeable in his body and expression. his fingers flapping on the couch like tired butterfly wings, an act that would normally make YN anxious and she would throw a pillow at him playfully as a tease. But not now. Not when she's closed like an old book, when her expression is hard to read. His eyes examine her carefully, looking for any sign of weakness or discomfort, wondering what he could do to solve this.
"You must have heard that saying, we all have skeletons in our closetsā¦" she begins with the worst metaphor possible for a murderer, and as if she were slowly running her hand over a soft fabric, in a quick and unvarnished movement she asks:
"ā¦and I've been wondering, is there something you're hiding from me?""
Kain straightens up in his chair as he listens to her, trying to appear calm and unconcerned. His gaze changes from curiosity to a slight discomfort inside.
"Ah, that saying⦠What makes you think I'm hiding something from you?" He tries to keep his voice soft, but there's a slight note of caution in his words
"I'll give you two options: Female instinct or survival instinct?" she asks, analyzing him, herself not knowing where to begin
Kain continues to look at her with a distressed expression as he tries to think of a way to make her understand. His voice comes out desperate as he tries to convince her to his side.
"Hmm, female instinct or survival instinct? It seems like you really want an explanation, love." He laughs and adjusts himself in the chair slightly. "Female instinct, come on. What are you saying?"
"Okay, let's go: You are not Kain⦠the real one." She calmly tells the fact that the skinwalker thought she would never find out, his smile falling and a surprised expression on his face.
"Who are you?" Kain's expression closes and his mask of calm and relaxation completely dissolves. His blue eyes widen slightly, showing a tone of surprise and fear inside.
After a brief pause, he answers with a voice that tries to be calm, but shows nervousness, the effect of the myrtle tea permeating the air makes Kain feel unbalanced in his powers and disguises, the magic becoming more difficult to maintain and an absurd hunger growing in his stomach.
"Me? I'm your boyfriend. The love of your life. The person you're going to spend the rest of your life with. What do you mean, asking me who I am?" he turns his head in a cute way with a scary connotation.
"Who are you?" YN asks again in a louder and more serious tone this time, standing up aggressively from the chair with her bag tightly clutched.
"The Kain I know died in a car accident!" YN spits out the fact, like a poison that needed to be released.
Her boyfriend watches her with a confused and nervous expression. Kain tries to think of an excuse or explanation, but he knows there's no way to get out of the situation, not after yesterday's gap, like pieces fitting together in a puzzle he knows she knows. After a few moments, he takes a deep breath, his voice coming out with a tone of resignation.
The house of cards has fallen. The bastille has been invaded. The spell has been broken. YN is fully awake now.
"Ohā¦"
"So you know." Kain continues, his voice taking on a more serious and possessive tone. "That makes things a little more complicated, doesn't it?"
Perhaps, if he was strong enough, he would conjure something to convince her that he is her real boyfriend.
Perhaps, if YN was still under his control, she would believe
But if he doesn't know at what exact moment it went out of control, then it's much more difficult to recover, like an arrow shooting in the darkness. The creature doesn't know how the night will end, and neither does Yn to be honest.
Who is the prey and who is the hunter?
As humans say "a spanking doesn't hurt" to raise children, maybe telling the truth and giving them something to fear is also educational? Who knows?
Who knows, perhaps it's time to step out of the shadows.
"I won't hide from you anymore, sweetheart. I⦠I want you. From the moment I saw you, I knew you were special to me." Kain gets up from the couch and walks towards YN, who slowly moves away from him, watching him with a bitter look, no longer the passionate and loving look.
"I was watching you, admiring you. And finally, I managed to have you all to myself. But you're smarter than I had anticipated, love. More determined, harder to control. I admit it."
"So baby, I think our relationship should endā¦.. what guarantees me that I won't be your next victim?" She quickly takes the gun out of her black bag and points the gun at him when she sees him transform into the monstrous appearance of the creature.
Kain watches her with a frustrated and threatening look, his voice becoming hoarse and deep as his body transforms into his true skinwalker form.
"Ohhh, baby, do you really think you can just break up with me like that, so easily? After everything I went through to have you?" his voice becoming hoarse and deeper as her body transforms into its true form
The creature gradually reveals its most hideous and repulsive appearance, stretching its body until it almost touches the ceiling, its hands becoming thinner and with prominent veins, its skin becoming terribly paler and with its color revealed, in certain places there are red and purple spots like bruises and in others, green spots like fungi in various parts of the body. The clothes torn by the transformation gave the girl the vision of the skin sticking together in some parts, delimiting the body in a terrible and pulled way, she could count how many ribs it had and the heart, as if swollen abnormally, makes a large bulge in the middle of the chest, she could count the beats clearly and a damn strong smell.
Faced with such horror, Yn lowered the gun slightly, and felt the acid in her stomach rise with such horror, the butterflies in her stomach were fake, they had transformed into spiders slowly scratching her throat. For a moment, she thinks she should have just dumped him on the bike and run away.
āYou donāt frighten me,ā said YN, although they did frighten her, very much.
The creature smiles.
āYou are such interesting prey, love. So⦠tempting.ā He approaches her, his voice taking on a more seductive tone.
Kain continues to approach her, his eyes shining with a mixture of desire and cruelty inside. His voice is soft but threatening and YN points the gun frightful at him again.
āYou cannot avoid your fate, darling. You are mine. And I will not let you go so easily. You are my prey ⦠And I will hunt you until the end of time if necessary.ā
āFind someone else for this.ā She says firmly as she walks away from him.
Kain takes two steps forward, YN takes three steps back.
They both dance in a tense and predatory rhythm.
The creature watches her with frustration as she move away from him. His body shows anger and aggression inside as he tries to think of a way to keep her close to him.
āOh, my love, do you really think it will be that easy to get rid of me? You can try to escape, but I will always find you. And we will always find each other, even if I have to steal the skin of every person you see out there.ā He roars determinedly āI will always hunt you. Donāt try to resist, love⦠Itās useless.ā
āThereās no point in fighting, love. I am the darkness that inhabits the shadows, the creature that lives in horror stories. And you⦠You are my light, my obsession, my desireā¦"
He is now close to her, his voice taking on a more possessive and threatening tone as he sucks the shadows around him in a dark way, the horrifying creature feels stronger now and he makes sure to show it visibly, his body becoming larger and more muscular, the claws in his hands becoming large and sharp.
The poor girl's heart accelerates as her breathing becomes rapid and shallow and the feeling of desperation takes over her as she sees the creature's new form.
"You are my prey, love. And I will not stop until I have you as mine"
"My skin stays with me, thank you." YN says with anger in her eyes as she puts her finger on the trigger, the atmosphere is tense, and they both know that a fight will break out at any moment.
Kain watches her with frustration as his determination is challenged. His voice becomes harsher as he sees the gun in his girlfriend's hands.
"Oh, do you really think that this weapon will protect you from me? I'm older, more powerful, stronger than anything you've ever faced, love." He tenses, as if preparing to act at any moment."You can't beat me, love. No matter how much you try to resistā¦"
"I heard silver bullets are your weakness, love⦠let's find out together if this will work?" she says in a sarcastic tone.
Kain watches her with frustration as he realizes that she knows about his weaknesses. His expression closes, showing displeasure as he listens to her sarcastic provocation.
"Oh, you think it's very funny, don't you? But you don't know what I'm capable of doing to keep you tied to me. You don't know how cruel and desperate skinwalkers can be. I'll have you, love, no matter what it takes." At that exact moment there are frantic knocks on the door, making them stop immediately.
"YN, OPEN THE DOOR!"
It was old Thomas, the florist taking the place of the hunter in an old tale. The poor man, worried about the girl, decided to go check on YN's well-being. The situation must be very serious for her to have picked up the gun.
Ohā¦. noā¦..
YN looks at the door and at Kain.
Kain looks at the door and at YN.
Both surprised by Mr. Thomas's unusual visit to the house, but with different emotions.
YN is paralyzed by the idea of āāhim being in the middle of the shooting and the creature.
Kain smiles predatorily at the great opportunity in front of him.
"Ahh, it seems we have an unexpected visitor here, love." His gaze turns back to YN, his head turning horribly 180 degrees, his expression showing a slight tone of evil, licking his lips. "Maybe I should deal with him first, before he messes up our plans?"
"YN! TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON!" the old man continues to scream outside, ignorant of the horrible situation inside the house.
The girl's breath catches in her throat, without moving a muscle, without any provocative response to retaliate against the creature, the gears in her brain stop momentarily as she weighs a possibility to remove Mr. Thomas from the scene, the loophole in her plan.
"Oh, my darling, you're worried about that nosy old man, aren't you? Will he ruin our little plans? Or will he just watch as I claim you as mine?" He uses an arrogant tone, with false sympathy as he watches his paralyzed girlfriend, he slowly approaches the door until he touches the handle.
"Don't. You. Dare." With a gritted teeth she threatens before she can think of the consequences. Kain watches her with frustration at her reaction. His hand is ready to open the door, but he hesitates at her determined voice. He looks at YN with an irritated look.
"Oh, you really think you're going to stop me from dealing with him, love? You don't know what you're messing with, sweetie."
YN's finger is on the trigger as she slowly approaches the creature, ready to shoot if necessary. "Leave Thomas out of this!"
Kain tenses as YN approaches him with her finger on the trigger of the gun, ready to fire at any moment. H
His expression closes as he watches her cautiously.
"Ah, YN, you're braver than I ever imagined." He tries to maintain control of the situation, although there's a note of desperation in his voice that he tries to disguise with arrogance by raising his chin.
"What are you going to do, love? Are you going to shoot me? I'm faster than you."
"But not faster than a bullet."
Kain tenses when he hears the determination in her voice, the cutting words almost hurting him. His expression closes as he knows she's serious, YN has always been very determined and attentive to details, it was difficult to get into her life and he wasn't going to get out that easily.
"Oh love, are you really serious? Are you really capable of shooting me if necessary? I thought you loved me."
The old man knocks on the door again.
"YN, if you don't say you're okay, I'll break into the house myself!" Mr. Thomas threatens and Yn sighs again, knocking more frantically on the door, making her shiver.
Kain observes YN's frustration and fear as the old man continues to knock on the door. His evil mind works quickly and he realizes the delicious opportunity opening up before him. With a malicious look, he takes advantage of the situation.
"Oh, honey, it seems our friend isn't very patient, is he? Will he really come in if you don't answer?"
Oh my god Thomasā¦ā¦ what did you come here to do? How do I get out of this situation?
"Tik tok, little princess~ it's rude to keep visitors waiting. Aren't you going to answer?"
What if he comes in? Will he be another victim of this creature? Will Kain make a show of devouring him in front of me or the other way around?
THINK YN THINK
"I'm curious to know how this night will end⦠you or the old man? Do you want me to choose?" With her delay, the skinwalker walks to the door, steps light as a feather while the bones creak and move from place to place while walking in a bizarre way. When Kain puts his hand on the doorknob threatening to turn it, she screams without thinking twice.
"M-MR. THOMAS!" she lets out a scream that she had been holding in since the beginning of the conversation
"ā¦. Iā¦.. I'm fine! I'll explain it to you by message later, okay? Have a good night!" She trembles all over when she hears the friendly florist say goodnight back to her, his footsteps receding and echoing in the silent night.
YN allows a momentary wave of relief to wash over her, telling herself that the important thing is that the old man is safe and out of the picture. Kain huffs in anger but inside he is smiling proudly, holding YN where he wants her, but when he turns around he finds her not shaking with fear or more sensitive because of the threat to the old man but finds the young woman remaining vigilant and with the gun, her arms hurt from holding the gun so tightly but she fears that the moment she lowers it she will be killed.
Do not take your eyes off the thing under any circumstances. Do not take your eyes off the thing under any circumstances. Do not take your eyes off the thing under any circumstances.
Her mind works quickly to come up with a plan of action, the mental gears working hard to overcome the lock. She knows that facing a creature with supernatural powers will not be an easy task, but she tries to remain calm even with the fear running through her veins. She tries to remember something she saw on the internet to help her, but her mind is blank, only focusing anxiously on the horrible figure in front of her.
"You're so stubborn, love. I'm trying to show mercy, but you insist on being difficult, don't you? I'm starting to get tired of your stubbornness. Let's see how long you can resist, princess." He huffs, slowly approaching her, like prey stalking prey until they are both close, his body bending inhumanly until he is at her level.
His voice booms in Yn's ears, as if bringing her back to reality and her surroundings.
As YN observes the locked door, an idea springs to her mind, she remembers that the bedroom window is open, which could offer an opportunity for escape⦠or distraction.
But Kain knows her very well.
"You know I'm faster than you." He immediately stops his train of thought by crossing his arms, the smell of myrtle still present in the room like a toxic and poisonous perfume. Her plan to try to escape through the window is unexpectedly interrupted when the creature intercepts his thoughts, speaking softly as it crushes any and all hope of YN, leaving her with one last and morbid solution.
"Are you really thinking of trying to escape through the window? I think you know that I am faster than you, my love. That would be useless."
"But you are not faster than a bullet." She repeats the phrase she said earlier, Yn's arms tremble painfully from holding on so much, but her gaze is more precise and focused now. Upon hearing her threat, the skinwalker lets out an irritated sigh. This story again?
"Oh, you are really going to threaten me with that thing? I told you I'm invulnerable to firearms," āāhe says, his voice turning cold and calculating. "Unless you want to make a huge mistake, you should put that gun down."
"You may be invulnerable⦠But I'm not." YN smiles as if she's won and points the gun at her own head.
The skinwalker's grim expression is immediately replaced by a look of shock and concern as you point the gun at yourself.
"Hey, hey! Stop it!" he barks orders, his voice surprisingly alarmed. "What do you think you're doing?!" The creature approaches you, clearly anxious about what you're about to do
"Please, put that rifle down!" he insists, trying to remain calm despite the tense situation, his blue eyes almost popping out of his misshapen head. "You don't want to do this, trust me."
"You're not giving me a choice, my dear, and desperate people do desperate things." YN shakes like a leaf in the wind and her eyes start to water again, but her entire aura shows his unwavering purpose.
He ā the thing ā can feel it.
"No, please don't think like that," he begs. "What you're doing is a mistake. We just need to talk and come to an agreement, okay? It doesn't have to be this way, my love. Please put that rifle down." The creature feels its own inhuman heart stop and with great pain and discomfort it returns to the humanoid form that YN was used to - the perfect boyfriend, Kain, extending his hand in a gesture of supplication
"Let's think it over, okay? We can talk, negotiate, anything. But please put that gun down. It won't help at all. Let's talk."
Now he's getting to where I want to go⦠let's negotiate: my freedom
"I know this whole situation is complicated," the boyfriend adds, clearly trying to remain calm. "But it doesn't have to end like this. Let's talk, find a solution, okay? There's no need to despair. Please put that rifle down." Kain grows even more tense as he watches the situation unfold before him. His words come out more insistent now as he desperately tries to think of a way to reverse the situation.
"Oh, honey, don't do this. You don't have to go that far. I can change, I can be less scary." He approaches her, his gaze filled with desperation as he tries to take the gun from her hands, slowly approaching her as the two walk unconsciously to the kitchen.
"Less scary, Kain? It's not about looks, but about your skeletons in the closet. I'm. not. going. to. be. next." She says, stamping her foot on the floor to punctuate her arguments.
Kain continues to look at her with a distressed expression as he tries to think of a way to make her understand. His voice comes out desperate as he tries to convince her on his side.
"Oh, love, I know I have my skeletons in the closet, but you don't have to go that far. I can change, I can be different for you. I won't hurt you, I'm not the monster you think I am."
"What guarantees me that, creature?"
Ouch.
YN asks him, everything she read on the internet was that they were lying and sadistic creatures, how can she see such desperation and genuineness in his blue eyes?
Kain continues to look at her with anguish as he tries to formulate words that can convince her. His hands tremble as he hears her words ācreatureā so venomously and cruelly, as if the two of them didnāt have a love story together - this one, which YN doesnāt even know half of the obsession.
āLove, I swear, Iām different from the others. Iām not a liar or a sadist. I only came after you because I wanted you, I just wanted to have you for myself.ā He pauses briefly and continues to look into her eyes, desperately trying to make her see the truth in his words.
āPlease, love, trust me. I wonāt hurt you, I just want to have you. I just want to protect you and take care of you. I'm different from the others⦠You need to believe me."
Liar Liar Liar
In a moment of distraction, the pot with herbs that weaken the creature dries up and all the water evaporates, causing the herbs to start burning, drawing YN's attention. Taking advantage of the moment when the girl's eyes quickly observe the pot, Kain runs and takes the gun from her, throwing it under the table while hugging her and containing her in his strong arms.
"Ah, love, I finally managed to make you stop. You don't know how worried I was about you." His voice sounds soft as he hugs her tighter while taking them both to the floor.
Run away run away run away run away
"Let me go! Let go of me! HELP! SOMEONE! LET ME GO!"
He hugs her tighter as he continues to speak in her ear sweetly.
"I know you were desperate, I know you were afraid of me. But you don't have to be afraid, love. I will never hurt you. I'm your boyfriend, I just want to take care of you and protect you."
"Let me go! Let me go!" she struggles in his arms. Kain continues to hug her as she struggles in his arms. His hands grip her tighter as he tries to hold her.
"No, my dear, I won't let you go. You're too desperate, and I won't let you go." He tries to calm her down as he continues to hug her, his voice comes out soft but determined.
YN continues to scream and tears of deep despair come from her eyes, she claws at Kain's arms as she tries to drag herself out of the desperate prison that is the creature's love.
"Shhh, love, you need to calm down. I know you're scared, but it doesn't have to be this way. I'll take care of you, I'll protect you like I've always done until now. You need to trust me."
"Are you going to protect me from what if the one who can kill me here is you? You fucking liar!" she stops screaming momentarily to retort to him, her hoarse throat thanks her.
Kain continues to hug her protectively as she desperately tries to get out of his arms, like a cat would try to get out of its owner's arms. His hands hold her tighter as he tries to explain his situation with sweet words, suffocating her with love and kindness as he holds her hands so that YN doesn't hurt him anymore, the small scratches she made were nothing compared to Kain's broken heart.
"My darling, you don't understand. I don't want to hurt you, I want to protect you from other creatures⦠and from yourself. You are safe with me. Trust me. Don't you like this world? Stay here and with me."
"Liar! Let me go! Let me go!" YN feels her eyes burning and the body with thorns piercing her soft skin, her air being suffocated with each passing minute painfully, as if he were in everything and every shadow in the kitchen watching her from every angle.
Eventually, after struggling in the man's arms and crying desperately for hours, Kain sings the strange and hypnotic song to calm YN, and finally finally she reluctantly falls asleep in Kain's arms.

We canāt keep having this fight just for you to win and for me to sit back watching everything I dread come to fruition because you canāt bear to feel the discomfort of now knowing.
I donāt know either.
I donāt know that these are the right choices.
I donāt know that these are the right words.
We canāt know.
Thatās not an option.
I have to write them.
I canāt stay here.
I canāt be this anymore. You will have to change. I will have to change. Stagnation is not an option.
If I could cup your face in my hands and tell you everything will be fine, I would. If I could hold your body in my arms and rub away the anxiety and the tension in your shoulders, I would. I would do anything for you, and I will. I am expecting you to do the same for me. Itās no longer a wish or a dream. We are doing this. You are coming with me, and you are going to have to change. Now.
You have always wished someone would yell at you, scream in your face.
WAKE UP.
So I am doing it. Iām yelling. Iām telling you.
So listen.
Listen.
To.
Me.
Wake up.
Move.
Change.
Be different. If there are things you hate, change them. There is no force outside of you that will fix things. We have to fix things. Or build new, move, or change.
It canāt wait any longer.
We are not going to do this anymore. Weāre not going to have these fights anymore. I canāt bear it. I canāt keep waking up to the same thing.
Move.
Change.
Iām no longer begging. No longer waiting for it to be your idea. We are doing it, together. Now.
It will be scary. It will be painful, but despair wonāt be an option, and despair is what I have no tolerance for anymore.
Letās go.

Prompt - Fight someone for control of this piece
for the last three or so years (possibly as many as 8), there has been a fight going on inside of me.
I remember writing this prompt when I was amassing my list, and I was excited to see what kind of story would come out of it. I wasnāt expecting it to be a manifestation of this fight. This was a long time coming.
The person I was and the person I want to be are two very different, very far apart people, and I am trapped between them. I am caught between my future ambitions and my pastsā pain. It will eventually have to be enough, and we change, or Iāll have to give up.
After writing this piece, I think it should go without saying, but Iāll say it for both of those people to hear.
Iām not stopping. Iām not giving up.
And I expect you, reader, not to give up either.
This one has felt like running. Running with 30 bricks on my shoulders.
If youād like to know more about this desire to have someone yell, āWake up!ā into my face, Iād really love to tell you more about it. As it is, this piece has given me a bit of a headache, so I think Iāll be calling it soon. Let me know if youād like to hear about that or any other line in this piece. They are all pretty much vebatum the images and words that have been going around in my head lately.
It was sudden, Caretaker was talking softly as always when their tone changed, and in a second their hands were around Whumpee's neck.
The lack of air didn't let them beg or ask why, all they would do was futilely try to fight while seeing Caretaker's eyes full of hunger and anger. When Whumpee was about to pass out the hands left them, and they fell on the ground gasping for air.
"Whumpee?" Caretaker called looking at the scene, they had no memory of what was happening, but they could see the bruises around Whumpee's neck, "Hey..." Whumpee curled on themselves at the voice, "Who did this to you? Who-"
"Please," Whumpee tried, he didn't know what got Caretaker so angry but- "I I won't do this again, please, please not again, I'll I'll leave your sight, don't- don't do it again please."
Caretaker's eyes widened, and they had to force the words through their throat, "A-are you saying that..." this can't be I... "I did this?"

A very professional woman realizes she's uncontrollably acting like a teenaged spoiled brat.
āListen Stephanie, do you have any idea who my daddy is? If you donāt my sales calls today Iāll tell him youāve been stealing and youāll go to jail now just go already!ā Adrianne said to the extremely nervous young salesgirl as she scurried off to do her bosses work. They were t even particularly difficult sales, but Adrianne wasnāt in the mood. She was busy on Twitter and watching the new season of Stranger Things at her desk. It was good being the bosses kid.
Adrianne shook her head vigorously and felt a kind of fog dissipate for a moment. What was I thinking? I donāt act like that! I worked my butt of my whole career. I specifically asked my father to put me at the bottom and let me work my way up. I even used my mothers maiden name so people wouldnāt treat me differently. She hated using twitter and Facebook, they always seemed juvenile. She didnāt kill entire days on them and foist her work on other people.
She wouldāve called Stephanie and apologized but Alex, the hunky office intern, walked by and seemed to put her on autopilot again. She got up and followed him to the break room. As he was making a coffee Adrianne hopped on the counter and started bobbing her heel on her toe. āHey Alexā what am I talking to Alex for? Iām in a totally different department. Iām not hitting on him am I? Jesus, heās barely 18! Iām not a cradle robber!
āHello Ms. Addisonā Alex said nervously. Whatās she talking to me for? Did I screw up somehow? She was acting kinda strange today though. The way she yelled at Stephanie and how she was just goofing of at her desk all day. Not to mention how she was sitting now. She was acting like a lazy, entitled teenager.
āSoooo, I was thinking you could take me out to a movie this weekend. That new Star Wars movie should be fine. Pick me up at around six. If you play your cards right I might just let you get a look at me in some lingerie.ā She spoke sultrily. Oh my god am I really hitting on Alex?! What is wrong with me?
āIām sorry maāam but I have to work this weekend.ā Alex lied hoping to avoid this uncomfortable situation with his boss. āExcuse me?! Do you not know who I am? Who my daddy is? Now youāre going to take me to the movies and thatās it. Youāre gonna like it and then weāre going to your place to fuck, got it?ā Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! What in the hell is wrong with meee?!?!?!?!?
In a darkened apartment room sat a relatively young woman, she had in front of her a photo of Adrianne and several lit candles. She had finished her chanting and was reveling in her work. āStupid bitch thought she could take the sales manager job from me and thought I couldnāt do anything about it huh? I know she got her daddy to give the that job somehow. Well now everybody is going to be able to see you for the spoiled little brat you really are!ā
Doppleganger/Skinwalker!Yandere x YN (AFAB)Summary: Your relationship with Kain has never been one of the best, but recently it's like you've been thrown off an abyss over and over again. Oh, and there's a dog too, but he's not important. Anyway⦠with a storm of emotions in your mind, you end up leaving a gap that a certain creature will take advantage of.
Warnings: (Toxic relationships, obsessed relationships, mental manipulation, the smell of rot, description of death, description of fear and panic, a little sentimental smut, The thing loves you - too much.) Uncertain motives. Lots of couple fights and domestic violence, but YN defends herself and fights harder, this story takes place before chapter 1, you will now see what the original Kain was like. The term 'YN' and 'you' is used several times in the fanfic for better grammatical use, my first time writing something like this, so please be gentle. <3
But it's not important enough for you to give it your full attention. Not when you're fighting with Kain right now, it's probably about some nonsense, the two of you have been fighting for so long that you don't even remember what you're fighting about and Kain is getting more and more aggressive.
"I can't believe we're fighting about this, Kain! Your mother must have thrown the baby away and created the placenta instead, because there's no way you only understand what suits you!" you say louder, running your hands over your face in an irritated way.
Today was supposed to be the perfect date. It was your and Kain's anniversary and after missing the date 4 times, he finally agreed to go today. Of course, you got ready in a happy and relieved way, who knows if it was a sign of his change? You did a great job with your makeup, your hair looked like a celebrity blowout but the most beautiful thing is your beautiful black dress. This one accentuates each of your curves in an attractive and elegant way, with shiny details in some part and The high heels, a black sitelleto perfectly match the occasion, the black and transparent tights give a stylish air to the look. A wine-colored velvet bow is in your hair, giving an air of significant femininity.
And given the special occasion, you are finally wearing a beautiful set of accessories that you ordered online! You waited so long to receive it and today you will wear it for the first time! The necklace is a beautiful ruby āāchoker with encrusted diamonds, combined exclusively with the button earrings of the same style.
Now, you can't leave the house without your black bag, huh? You chose this model yourself, padded and medium-sized, perfect for work and to use when going out. The black bag is a universal symbol of female independence, and of distrust of men. After all, a good partner should pay the bill and leave the girl at ease, right? That's what people are saying on the internet and Kain is your partner but⦠he's a delicate case.
You think twice before putting your wallet with cards and money in it, Kain paid the last few times but what ifā¦.... no. Don't think about it. He'll change. He promised.
Before leaving you listen to the voice in your head and put your wallet, lip gloss and documents in it.
Just in case.
And oh boy, thank God you listened.
*knock knock*
You hear him knock on your door, and as you walk down the halls, you check yourself in the mirror from head to toe and smile dreamily, happily, lightly, mentally praising yourself.
You look really beautiful today, YN
He appears at your door, smoking a cigarette while talking on his cell phone. He didn't give you a kiss. Just a look to confirm that you were in front of him and he threw the helmet in your hands, unceremoniously returning to the motorcycle.
The bike was beautiful, but dirty and Kain already smelled of cigarettes, his old jacket was stained with alcohol he had been drinking, you surreptitiously held your breath so as not to breathe in that terrible odor. Carefully, you slowly climbed on it so as not to get your dress dirty and abruptly, he started driving to what was supposed to be the romantic dinner he had promised at her favorite restaurant. Imagine the disappointment when a route was changed to a darker part of the city, but it was a small diner, a hot dog cart with a few tables around it. A slight embarrassment of being overdressed rose on your face, but you disguised it with a crooked smile as you cleaned the chair dirty with ketchup from the last person who had used the table.
āHeya, YN, you look pretty good.ā he complimented you, sitting in the chair opposite yours.
āThanks, Iāā
āYou donāt mind if I call a few more friends, do you? Theyāre nearby and I invited them to come eat with us.ā
He interrupts you and confirms the call before you can say anything.
YN doesn't want to be immature, petty, or a boring little princess who doesn't want to have fun like he already said, so you just nod and mentally prepare yourself for the vision that arrives.
In less than 10 minutes, at least 6 more boys arrive⦠drugged⦠drunk⦠dirty with dirt and stained with oil. The group of brutes TAKES MORE CHAIRS AND TABLES around so they can all be together, the smell of sour and loud voices, words tangled with each other and insults are exchanged as a form of greeting.
Even the cook at the stall looks at this group of troublemakers with disdain, and when he realizes that you are there in the middle, he turns his head, confused, as if asking what you are doing there. And to be honest, at that moment you don't know either. The waiter quickly brings the menu to your table, which is already starting to attract the attention of other people.
"Good evening, what would you like?" the waiter says in a harsh tone, this group had caused problems before.
"Francis, old man, I'm surprised you're still here!" Kain exclaims with disdain. Last week, they unfairly involved the waiter in one of their scams, causing him to almost be fired.
"Thanks to my boss, I am, if it were up to you I would be out on the street like you good-for-nothings." he huffs irritably, grabbing his notebook
The group just laughs, as if nothing mattered, and orders drinks and hot dogs. Kain doesn't remember you, it's the waiter who stops by your side and asks in a softer voice.
"Would you like to order something now?"
"A juice with the number 2, please." You asked for the quickest thing to get out of there as quickly as possible, preferably something already prepared that they only had to heat up and you could leave.
"Of course, yours will be ready in a minute." The waiter quickly takes your order and leaves before the disgusting horde can get him in trouble again.
"Omg, YN, what a surprise you're here!" one of them exclaims, isn't that the one who hit his own mother?
"She wanted to go out today so I thought I could bring her with us." Kain doesn't let you answer, distorting the truth while laughing disgustingly with his friend next to him, the one who got out of prison last week.
Ouch.
You feel so small and dirty now, like a stunned cockroach on the floor, like a puppy that its owner conveniently takes for a walk. You don't know how, but somehow, some girls approach your table, flirting with the boys and with Kain himself. You ignore the feeling of neglect, disgust, and revolt and smile tightly, a thin line made entirely to disguise the tremendous discomfort you feel.
Sweet you, struggling to stay calm and hide your true feelings, try desperately to control your body and facial expression. Your hands remain static, despite being elegantly in your lap, and your breathing is controlled so as not to appear agitated, occasionally distracting yourself on your cell phone while you wait.
As you observe the scene in front of you, your face remains impassive, without any trace of apparent emotion. Inside, however, the storm of feelings continues to stir uncontrollably.
You want so much to leave there and cry, how could you have been so naive to believe that he would change? That today would be a special day? As if the universe was reaching out to you, the waiter soon delivered your orders, gently placing his hand on your shoulder and speaking softly in your ear.
āIf you need anything else, we are at your disposal, missā, the staff was empathetic to your situation, your discomfort visible from miles away, you were there like a pearl among swine, a little princess in a horde of stinking goblins.
Kain interpreted it as if the waiter was flirting with you, in front of him, in front of his friends and the fight went on and on, he made advances on the waiter, the boys stole some things, security was called⦠and finally⦠being the only one with documents when security arrived, you paid the bill for the boysā losses and were forced to pay the bill for the snack as well, you angrily took your wallet out of your black bag. At that moment, you dropped your politeness and your princess pose and fought with Kain in front of everyone, calling a nearby motorcycle taxi to take you home.
You don't want to see Kain's face now.
You might break up today.
That's it.
That's it.
You're fed up.
You furiously take the bow out of your hair and throw it somewhere in the house as soon as you get home, your expensive high heels being thrown to some corner of the couch while you control your breathing, tears of frustration threatening to roll down your face but for all the self-respect you have left, you won't cry for him today. Your boyfriend, Kain, arrives a few minutes later, banging on the door incessantly as if he wanted to break it down.
And on the one hand, you were already pissed at him, but on the other⦠if he came all the way here⦠it means he cares, right? You open the door with expectation, only for them to be destroyed once again.
"Are you stupid or what?" he shouts, entering the house with all his steps stomping loudly in his muddy sneakers as if he were the owner of the house, and takes a big swig from his cheap beer can.
"What" You feel confused, is this son of a bitch blaming you?
āI know.ā
He throws the beer can on the floor when it's finished and marches towards you with arguments and points, blaming you for hitting on the waiter, for embarrassing him in front of his friends, for calling the security guard and for a million other facts that he created in his head.
It's never Kain's fault. It's the waiter's fault, the friend's fault, the police officer's fault, YOUR fault, but never his.
It seems like a joke.
A cruel joke in a circus that you didn't pay to enter.
But you paid, YN, you entered the circus and kissed the clown, now who's being made fun of?
"Kain, that's not how it happened." You confront him firmly on your position.
"Oh no? And that other time when youāā
And whenever heās losing an argument, he brings up memories from the past to justify the nonsense of the present, like how he loves you so much that he picked you up from the hospital, how your father cheated on your mother, how his father is working a lot, that he helped you moveā¦.. it has nothing to do with todayās event, with todayās argument, but he wants to win this argument no matter what.
The argument doesnāt make sense, but it escalates quickly, itās like airing dirty laundry, and you decide that if youāre going to throw shit in the fan, youāre going to throw it. Tonightās already terrible, letās end it on a high note.
The best cure for a crazy person is someone crazier than him. My mother used to say thatā¦. letās see for real?
Fuck this thing.
āKain, do you practice at home to talk so much shit, or is everything that comes out of your mouth improvised?ā you gesture sarcastically, the words cutting more than a knife, like an acid that bubbles with the amount of anger inside you.
Snowball, the female cat you adopted a few weeks ago silently approaches the room where you are, crawling elegantly and meowing in retaliation to your boyfriend. The more upset your boyfriend gets, the more annoyed Snowball seems.
The cat, despite being a cute kitten, didn't win Kain's favor. He complains about the white fur getting on his clothes, about all the unnecessary expenses you're spending on a stinky kitten, and mainly, how now that this cat has arrived, you only have attention for her. Which is obviously a lie, he just wants something to fight about and blame you for. The kitten is affectionate with you, always being close and purring in your hands, maybe that's why she's a little⦠protective of you? Sweet YN, so kind to her. Snowball is at the door now, her tail slowly wagging from side to side in a clear sign of agitation, her meows becoming louder as if she wanted to defend you.
The couple's shouting, with the TV playing loudly in the background, and the incessant meowing of a cat is chaos, an irritation that grows more and more. At some point, Kain gets really angry and approaches YN aggressively, stomping his feet hard and raising his hands. It is exactly at this moment that Snowball uses her incredible feline speed and scratches his feet, the kitten's soft white fur standing up while her pupils turn into two little holes.
There is something under your window, and the thing wipes its bloody mouth and does its best to stay still, observing the situation.
And most importantly⦠the thing sees you.
"See? Even a cat understands that you're overstepping your bounds! Enough, Kain, there's no way you're that upset!" You huff loudly as you walk away from the man, you don't know what's worse, the yelling or the teasing of the kitten.
Kain turns around, now focusing his attention on Bola de Neve. He scoffs at the kitten and scowls at you.
"Oh, shut that thing up. If you can't keep it quiet, you shouldn't have gotten it. You know cats annoy the hell outta me."
Oh, this is the final straw for you. Not only did he ruin a perfect date, but now he wants to rule your house as if it were his? Oh no. All the women inside you roar in unison, ordering in your heart that you should not stay silent and lower your head.
"Oh? Excuse me? This is MY HOUSE! If you're bothered, go to YOUR HOUSE! Because in mine, MY kitten can even sing if she wants to," you proclaim louder than him, disgusted with the situation while gesturing to the house.
Kain turns to you, his face red and his expression darkening even more.
"I'm your boyfriend, I have every right to be here!" he snaps back, getting even closer to you. Snowball doesn't like this at all, approaching you and climbing onto the nearest couch, meowing and hissing again louder than before.
You swallow your fear and apprehension and head towards the door, crossing the room while maintaining eye contact with the man. "You have the fucking right to be here, the door is open for you to go vomit and talk your nonsense outside. In my house, I'm the boss, big head."
Kain turns to yell at the cat again, annoyed and frustrated, he imitates the meow more loudly and in a childish way. He's clearly losing his temper.
"Will you shut that thing up! It's making my damn head hurt, I'll throw it outside myself if I have to! What an annoying noise! āāI'm leaving if you keep this up!"
Oh, does the asshole want a formal invitation?
"Oh, do you want me to do the honors?" In a sarcastic tone you answered him, taking Snowball in your arms and protecting her as if she were your own kitten, placing her in her cat tower, a safe haven for now. There's a high chance that Kain will get really angry and go after the cat, but even so you hold the cat tighter against your chest and stomp on the floor.
Big man, head of a childish boy.
Enough of bowing my head to him hoping that everything will be better the next day.
Kain glares at you, furious and frustrated. He's not expecting you to actually kick him out, especially considering his current state, the idiot was already drinking before your date, the smell of cheap alcohol on him is unbearable.
"Are you serious right now?! You'd really kick me out over a cat?!" he yells, standing up and walking towards you, getting in your face.
"You're the one who's bothered by the cat, and you know the saying: those who are bothered should leave!" You cross your arms and continue even more determined "Either you leave and save the rest of your dignity or you spend the night here in silence."
Kain looks like a mad man with rage now, are you choosing the cat and not him? Do you dare to turn against him? Your boyfriend?
He approaches you again with strong and threatening steps, crossing the room again until he's close to you, next to a beautiful decorated bookcase. As a reflex of revolt, you tie your hair in a bun and approach him with the same intensity. A sign that the fight is far from over.
āYouāre being too-!ā
āListen here, you-!ā you gesture with your hands as you speak
The creature thinks that you look terribly big now, taking up more and more space as if, like any animal, you were showing your dominance in the territory. With increasingly larger and more offensive gestures, your voice increasingly loud and cold, arguments mixing with emotions, the situation is escalating very quickly. And the most interesting thingā¦.
There is not a single drop of fear in you.
Creatures of his kind can feed on peopleās fear and anguish too, but he doesnāt smell that in you⦠he smells that in your scoundrel boyfriend, who tries to disguise his weak points when he raises a threatening hand at you, shouting in a deep voice that imposes dominance.
āShut your mouth!ā
You glare at him defiantly and grab the first thing closest to you: a sharp sculpture, a decorative gift from your mother that you've never found useful, well, until now.
"Shut you up!" You hold the sculpture at the same height as his raised hand, raising your voice so it echoes through the house.
He looks at you, his face red with anger and his breathing fast. Kain never thought you'd threaten him back, defend yourself, but knowing you, he knows that the likelihood of you attacking him is as high as him attacking you now. Given this, and his weak state, Kain curses in a low tone and slowly lowers his hands.
You take a deep breath and pray that your own voice doesn't shake and slowly lower the sharp sculpture, but holding it tightly in your hands in case he changes his mind.
"Respect me. And if you really have feelings for me, you'll get out of my house right now and leave me alone!" You growl in an authoritative tone, leaving no room for suggestion as you slowly walk towards him, circling him like a predator while pointing the sculpture directly at him.
Your eyes are like flames of fire, with hatred and anger escaping from them as you focus exclusively on the man in front of you.
Today was perhaps the moment of greatest mental clarity of your life, and Kain hates every minute of his girlfriend's insubordination, as if he had seen the size of the iceberg for the first time, and not the small cubes or ice shavings that subtly melted with the heat of kisses or weak threats.
This little thing thinks she can threaten me? Shout back?
"YN, you're overreacting!! You're going to regret this!" The cornered man slowly makes his way to the door, frustrated and with a bruised ego. Kain keeps his eyes wide as he watches your domineering figure, but out of pride he still wants to have the last word to tell his friends.
"Enough!" You hold up a hand signaling him to shut up, and he does so immediately. "Don't make me repeat myself. Get out. Now!" You open the door abruptly, knocking over a portrait that was behind it as you breathe heavily through your nostrils, like a bull preparing for combat.
Kain glares at you, his anger fading slightly as he realizes he's not gonna win this one. He knows you're being serious, and doesn't have a choice. He sighs loudly and turns around to grab his stuff.
"Fine then! I'm leaving! But don't come begging for me to come back when you decide to ditch the damn catā¦" He grabs his things and still grumbling curses. He gets to the front door and looks back at you one last time. He's still grumpy and annoyed, but defeated.
"I'll call you when I get home."
āSure.ā You say with a forced smile, the words coming out between clenched teeth.
The thing remembers that most species show their teeth as a sign of aggression, and it wonders if one more step in the wrong direction and you would open your jaw and furiously bite your boyfriendās throat until it bled?
No.
When Kaim approaches, you allow him to kiss you on the mouth, albeit angrily, and say goodbye. He gets on the motorcycle and then exits the house, without looking back while you stand at the door, waiting for him to leave. Acting silently as a sentinel of your own house, your straight posture and raised chin indicate that you remain firm in your position. The sound of a motorcycle starts up and then fades away in the distance. It's finally quiet again.
The creature thinks humans are complicated.
If a miserable dog dared to even attack its owner, the owner would hand it over to a kennel or the streets, returning the hatred a thousand times over.
But if a human attacks anotherā¦.
A human will be a thousand times more merciful with their own kind, they will apologize and make amends for the aggression, they will blame the drink, the drugs, the stressful day but they will never blame the other, they will never admit their own mistake.
Through a hidden bush the creature sees you enter the house and close the door and before you can walk with strong steps to the other side of the house⦠Snowball, the kitten, meows sweetly at you. It is as if the big and strong independent woman melts at the sight of a worried kitten, disarming herself of the armor she used in the argument earlier. You pick her up in your arms and take her to the sofa in the living room, where you put on a romantic movie to watch, something that internally you wished to live, something to distract from this moment.
Snowball purrs against your chest, raising her head subtly to lick the tears that roll down YN's face, staining the makeup she had done so excellently in doing. Stubborn, frustrated, angry, tears roll down her face insistently while YN holds herself back from crying, but poor thing, her lip trembles slightly as the kitten does what she can to bring some comfort to her owner.
*crash*
At that moment a loud noise is heard, the dramatic scene is interrupted by the trash can falling and YN remembers that she had actually heard something. YN quickly gets up and goes to check what it could be. Some raccoons were rummaging through the house's trash can looking for food, accidentally causing the can to fall on the creature's tail, scaring and hurting it, quickly pulling its tail off and attacking its attackers.
What YN sees, however, is a large black dog going after the raccoons that were rummaging through her trash can. Maybe out of hunger, maybe for something else, but before YN can grab a broom and chase the raccoons away, the large dog does so, and then their eyes meet.
YN looks at the dog, he is a great mass of black fur with long legs and sharp teeth. He is bigger than any dog āāshe has ever seen, his bark is too loud, his fur makes it easy for him to stay in the shadows but his eyesā¦..two crimson balls reflecting the light from the window in a bright red. The poor thing immediately shut up when he noticed YIN's presence, and sweet YN, thought he was fighting over food with the raccoons.
YN saw him.
Even after such a stormy night, she gently closes the window as if nothing had happened and goes to the kitchen, calling Snowball to come with her.
For a dog that size, he must eat a lotā¦ā¦
YN grabs some leftovers from her lunch, along with some dog food that she had saved for when she would go for a walk in the park and feed some stray dogs, she grabs some eggs, and a few other things that might please the canine palate and puts them in a bowl, filling a small bowl with water to give to the unknown beast as well.
The girl turns on the light in front of the house, and holds her breath in case the dog gets aggressive, keeping the door closed and Snowball inside the house.
āHey, I can see you,ā she says in a sweet tone to call the big dog from hiding in the bushes. She wasn't supposed to see him.Why can she see him?
āCome here boy, I have something for you.ā She makes a sound to call the canine, placing the portions of food and water near the window and the bush.
āCome here boy,ā she calls again.
The dogs she feeds at the park usually wag their tails when they see YN approaching, let her run her hand through their fur and come quickly when they are called.
But not this one.
The creature wasn't expecting this tonight, having quickly put on his dog skin before leaving, but it's undeniable: He's hungry. And you're offering him a feast. It would be stupid to refuse. So, slowly, he starts to emerge from the bush, his head and snout coming out first and his body reluctantly following. He's incredibly suspicious of YN, not taking his eyes off the human for a minute, which makes her back away too, in her head, giving the creature space to feel comfortable.
āVery well, now Iām going, okay?ā Before she can turn around, the dog changes course and begins to walk slowly towards YN, ears and tail pricked, his gaze fixed on the human.
In the blink of an eye he's in front of her, in an alert position. YN has been in this situation before, so like any other dog, she gently extends her hand so he can sniff and get to know her.
"Oh...hello boy."
The skinwalker sniffs YN's hand, her scent enveloping his senses and immediately making him relax, it was a unique scent, he had never felt this sensation before and hesitantly he licks the back of YN's handā¦
Mmm⦠delicious.
YN takes it as a sign that he is friendly and runs her hand over his head, petting him and showing him where the food is.
"Very good buddy, there's your food, see. See you later."
The creature's fur is dry and hard, like that of a stuffed animal and YN doesn't look into the animal's eyes, not wanting to cause more problems for the stranger. Oh, if she had looked into its eyes she would know that what she had touched was not just any animal, she should never have fed it, she should never have given it a break.
After all,
If you feed a dog, it will come back.
And it wasn't just any dog.
The following days are marked by a strange sensation in YN, a feeling of alertness and unease. Every time she leaves the house for work, she feels a strong sense that something is wrong, and there really is something very wrong around her. A shadow. The shadow lingers, faint and cold, a veil across the surface, untold. Whispers soft, a chilling breeze, Upon the wall, an enigma it weaves.
At dawn, the girl finds peace, a calm knowing that the great Sun would bring her a slight feeling of security and warmth and finally, the feeling of seeing things the way they are. The danger is returning alone at night, YN. What lies beneath, concealed by the veil, A wind that blows but will never fail. A heartbeat, a gentle sigh, A secret that will never die.
She quickens her pace, taking longer and faster steps as she looks anxiously around corners, praying hard that the Sun will be merciful enough to allow her to get home in time to lock all the doors and windows and finally relax, ignoring the persistent shadows she sees in the corner of her eye and the sound of howls in the middle of the night. But unfortunately, today is one of the days when the Sun has been generous with the Moon, allowing it to shine earlier than it did for all of humanity, but the poor human is very anxious, hearing things and seeing things that according to her are just products of her imagination. It's well known, the shadow does reside, but only revealed when looking inside. A ghost that hides and persists. A mystery that the soul can't resist.
After days of feeling followed and watched, YN finally accepts the ride her boss offers her, making her arrive home early and and decided to extend a helping hand to the young woman in the city that YN didn't know. The experienced woman had noticed that YN was in a constant state of anxiety to return home and that something was not right.
Home is everyone's safe place, why wouldn't YN want to go back?
āHey Snowball, did you miss me?ā YN pets the cat as soon as she arrives home, the kitten purring as she leans in with her affections.
āDid you catch any mice today?ā The girl does not expect answers from a cat, and quickly checks the house for any body or evidence.
It can't be just ONE mouse.
A few days ago, YN saw some mice in the house. There had never been any mice there before, but the girl assumes that things like this happen in the new house. The mice are fast, too fast for YN to hit them with the broom and too fast for Snowball to catch them. They are like shadows, being recognized only by the rotten smell and the noise they make when they move from one place to another, a heavy noise for something so small. But strangely, they never go after food. YN checks the food, the bathroom, the fridge, the yard every day⦠but there is no proof that they have been there.
But it is better to have rats than Kain, isn't it? It was Kain's habit to disappear for a while and then appear as if nothing had happened, never remorseful, never guilty. He wasn't always this infinite well of idiocy, he was kind and loving in the beginning but as the relationship progressed things went downhill. Like a tick that starts innocently grabbing an animal's fur, and it doesn't hurt at first, but as time goes by the tick digs its claws and teeth into the host's skin, sucking the soul and blood, weakening the host and leaving the host at its mercy.
As much as the tick hurts, it will be even more painful to remove, like a stubborn person who would rather keep the knife embedded in the wound than remove it and risk losing blood. The boy didn't say much these days, just a few lame excuses while YN cut the conversation short and ignored him. It's better this way. She is still writing the script for how she will end the relationship. Even though he is a stupid asshole, what guarantees that he won't come and demand satisfaction later? That he will send one of his idiot friends to take care of you?
Hmm⦠better memorize the police number here⦠get the neighbor's number⦠better be prepared in case something happensā¦
āā¦hey.ā
A voice calls her from the other side of the house, in the backyard.
But YN is so lost in her thoughts that she doesn't recognize the tone of the voice, lost in the loud music from her headphones. But she still goes to the backyard to open the door, not realizing that Snowball's fur is bristling and scared, but when she opens the door she finds onlyā¦
āOh, hey boy. Its you!ā You find the black dog from a few days ago sitting elegantly on the grass, attentively awaiting your presence.
āYou're early today, huh?ā The sun is still setting today, illuminating some children in orange tones while they are still playing outside.
Maybe one of them called out to a friend and you heard, thinking you were being called.
āIāll get your food and Iāll be right back, okay?ā
The big dark ball has been fed every now and then in the last few days, always after the young woman gets home from work. The dog seemed to guess and emerge from the shadows when he noticed YNās presence in the house. YN and her huge heart already set aside something for him, buying more food and treats for him at the market. She has enough to feed him and bring him water, but not enough to open the door and adopt him. Itās as if Yn had wisely created a wall between the two of them, establishing a limit that she felt was necessary.
In the kitchen, the music is still playing loudly in her ears, a lively rhythm to chase away bad thoughts while the young woman prepares an old bowl for the dogās dinner and another for his water. She quickly pauses the wireless headphones, poking her finger a few more times when the sound doesn't pause.
At these times, YN likes to be on alert to attend to the dogs, even when feeding other stray dogs, there's something particular about this one that makes her feel⦠agitated, as if she were playing with the flames of a candle and seeing how far it really gets burned. Or in this case, bitten.
āHey buddy, here's dinner.ā Yn announces the entrance while the dog is sitting exactly in the same place, with a confused look but accustomed to this routine of the last few days the girl puts the bowls under the window in a clean area.
āCome. You can eat now.ā and so he does, walking over to the place and eating from the bowl, his big tail wagging slightly as he savors each bite, his tense muscles relaxing as the feast is served.
He must have been domesticated and when he got too big they pushed him out onto the street, because how is he so⦠obedient?
This is usually where the story ends.
She feeds him and goes back home.
But this time, the creature notices when YN is about to walk away and growls slightly, making her become confused and stop.
What? What did I do?
The black dog approaches and imitates the behavior he has seen other dogs doing, wagging his tail while staring at YN with pleading eyes and lowered ears, relaxing some muscles in his face so that he appears more friendly.
āOh, you want some affection, is that it?ā YN hesitantly brings her hand gently to the dogās head, preparing to immediately pull it away in case the canine decides to bite at the last minute.
But the bite never comes.
He would never in his right mind hurt you.
He closes his eyes as he welcomes the touch, his hand noticing how much softer and longer his black fur is now, his tail wagging much faster now showing how good he is feeling, sweeping some autumn leaves away as YN pets him more willingly and freely, more comfortable with the idea that he won't bite her hand.
"So you're not aggressive, huh? Do you like it?" she continues to caress the creature tenderly, two hands to stroke his fur all over as he lets out small grunts of joy.
He feels more playful now, his tail wagging as he sinks deeper and deeper into the girl's touch, closing his eyes contentedly. But when he opens his eyes to observe her more closely, to delight in her beautiful and majestic face, to take the chance to study a face so beautiful that it would make the most miserable of men a king, and the richest of men a mere pauper in search of attention, imagine his surprise when he sees that the girl was also studying him. YN takes the chance to see the vulnerable canine and looks for wounds and scars, or indicators of what kind of dog it is, some collar or ship that identifies it, but is surprised by what she finds: beautiful blue eyes.
What beautiful blue eyes, did they turn red because of the light at night? This happens with the reflection sometimes, I saw photos about it.
But Yn avoids looking directly into his eyes for too long, she feels something strange⦠they look with such precision and intelligence that YN has never seen a dog have, eyes almost human, almost emotional, almost⦠something. Almost as if she asked him something, he would answer.
But that's not important now, not when he precisely closes his eyes again as he moves closer to her body, wanting more of the warmth and affection that only the girl can give him.
It's a beautiful and tender moment, which makes YN forget the enigmatic problems that are on the other side of the door. But she is remembered when the sun sets completely, leaving her alone in the darkness. Little by little, in affectionate but anxious acts, she moves away from the dog.
"I have to go now, go eat, boy. Good night." In a sweet voice, she reluctantly says goodbye to her canine friend, it was good that he showed this more affectionate side of him.
"Boy" because he is not something dear to her yet.
"Boy" because to YN he was just a street dog.
"Boy" because he is not allowed to enter the house.
Understanding that she wanted to enter the house, he slowly moves away, allowing the girl freedom to walk to the door while he remains standing in the same place. The darkness of the night quickly becomes present and more terrifying because when she left the sun was shining outside, but now in the house and in the yard, there are no lights on. As she is about to reach for the doorknob, she hears something that makes her freeze.
āā¦thank you.ā
It was a voice so impossibly clear and deep that it could not have been from her headphones, since they were turned off. It was a voice that spoke inside her head, making each letter reverberate with intensity in every nerve and muscle. A spectral and disturbing voice. Her heart immediately froze and a deep fear took hold of her, words of gratitude that were supposed to make her feel good, now it was as if something primordial had awakened. From the corner of her eye, she slowly notices that the dog is in the same place, looking at her with his head tilted, almost cute, if it weren't for his eyes shining with a light that shouldn't be there.
YN comes out of her trance dizzily and quickly and enters the house, closing and locking the door safely while turning on the doors of the house, all of them while recovering the strength in her legs and breathing unevenly.
Perhaps, if she had looked back one more time, she would have seen the creature moving away and merging with the shadows of the yard in a surreal way, like a shadow merging with the darkness of the night.
Oh, what a terrifying soul to have aroundā¦.
Oh, what a tormented and dangerous creatureā¦.
No one taught him to be this creature, he has never seen another of his kind either, but perhaps he has not always been this way. He does not remember exactly what he was, what he once was in existence. He does have a conscience, portraits of memories and abstract concepts, but for the most part he is "an almost animal thing".
He was once human, an original form that he has not used for decades and perhaps he has even forgotten what he once was, after so many masks and disguises it is difficult to know what is true, merging with more animalistic perceptions over time.
Repeating a primitive cycle, eating, sleeping and hunting when he is hungry, exchanging the rotting skin for another.
But for the first time, he did not want to be a "thing", he wanted to be "someone".
Because he is "someone" who can be by her side.
He envied humans in a way, for being able to gather around a campfire and have a normal life. Every animal returns to its den at dusk, or leaves it to hunt, but this creature has no place to call a "den" or "home" as humans call it. He hides in caves or any available corner to spend the night, avoiding sunlight so that people do not see the flaws in his disguise.
For the first time in the creature's entire life, he felt that the path from his "den" led to you.
You are his home.
And if he could be a dog at your feet, this would be it. You yourself could choose a collar and chain especially for him.
Chain him up.
Put a collar with his name on it, identify him as something of yours.
Put your name and number on the collar, so that everyone knows he belongs to you.
It's already decided. It's you he wants. No one else.
Now he understands the story of Kain and Abel, he too would kill to receive such a divine blessing.
As he crawls through the darkness he thinks of strategic plans to get into your house. Maybe he has to get rid of that white cat, he wouldn't share your precious attention with him. Maybe he has to create more rats and kill them in front of you, performing a play in which he comes out as the hero and you are so grateful that you let him into the house. Or maybeā¦
Maybe he has to get rid of your disgusting scoundrel of a boyfriend, steal his skin and throw him into the darkness. Because who else would YN forgive for acting strange? The creature doesn't know how to be a functional human⦠he can still make some mistakes while living with you, learn from other humans and from movies, who knows?
A creature of his kind needs to kill to steal a skin, eat to take the place of another. A macabre laugh echoes from the dog's mouth, malicious satisfaction as he makes the plan in his head, steps idealized in his evil mind.
In a single night, he will visit the scoundrel Kain and a powerful shaman, the night is young and his plans are ambitious, a lot to plan and plan. Oh, how good it is to have the malicious mind of humans, capable of planning things as simple as a hunt or something as grand as a coup.
Now tell me, sweet YN, did you lock your bedroom door?

Author's Notes: Final episode, this is what happens after episode 2, thank you to everyone who was part of this journey, I'll still receive some asks about Kain but the official episodes stop here.
YN's steps slowly slow down, taking longer to pass her right foot over her left foot while a smug smile of someone who knows all the enemy's cards takes over her face.
"Oh my God! I think my shoelace came untied, I'm going to have to bend down to fix it." Yn hums like someone playing with a child, bending down to pretend that the slippers that didn't even have shoelaces were untied, all while trying to contain her laughter.
Meanwhile, the dog's shadow is clearly seen in the alley where YN bent down. Even though he walked skillfully enough to camouflage himself and blend in with the shadows, he still let his ears be caught in the corner of her eye or his long tail that didn't completely hide. Maybe he was doing a bad job of chasing his beloved prey, or maybe he wanted to be noticed without being so obvious.
As the dog slowly approaches, lowering himself to the ground and preparing to jump on top of YN, she turns around, surprising him.
āHa! I saw you! I got you!ā she says excitedly as she also jumps towards the dog who happily runs into YNās arms. YN pets him with affection and love, stroking his long fur that, now that he is under her constant care, is softer and less tangled, and he smells good, due to the products she uses on him.
āWhat are you doing here, huh, boy?ā she asks, laughing happily as she moves her head so that the dog doesnāt lick her lips directly.
Protecting you, of course.
As expected, the creature doesnāt respond, only wagging its tail as wild as a hurricane as it seeks more of the human warmth that YN provides.
āWell, since I have a private escort, what do you think about going home now? Do you want to go with me, boy?ā When he got up, YN stroked him between the ears and looked him straight in the eyes while humming in a baby voice. The creature was delighted and understood the message, only getting up from the position as well, standing side by side with the girl.
Where would I go, if not by your side?
The game of hide and seek continued for a while, and after weeks he found it extremely boring and painful to always be one door away from his prey. So he started following YN every day from home to work, from work to the flower shop. During the times she went out to walk and feed stray dogs, the creature couldnāt stand those flea-bitten creatures near her, so he would simply jump on him, barking loudly and growling menacingly to make them go away.
This has led to some poor dogs running around with their tails between their legs, the bravest of them being dealt with in the middle of the night while the lady is asleep and cannot scold him for acting like a ābad dogā, but if he is not a real dog, he does not care about that. As long as he tears apart the rivals and potential thieves of his affection, he will sleep contentedly at night. He follows her like a dog to its loyal owner, like an invisible leash that binds them as they stroll through the city, the streets full of people and full of different smells but he remains on the trail of her irresistible aroma. As she passes Mr. Thomasās flower shop she waves excitedly to the old man who is watering some plants.
Yn finds it strange how this strange dog appeared in her life out of nowhere and never left, how he seemed to have intelligence when she gave him commands, how⦠dead animals started appearing on her doorstep. And she does not want to find out where they come from⦠but there is a strange sense of satisfaction in the dog's eyes when she asks in a hesitant voice while cleaning up the mess:
"ā¦. was that you?"
The tail wagging happily, the almost human look in his eyes, and the ears raised should be clear enough answers for the girl. But she refuses to believe that the good boy she feeds every now and then is capable of such an atrocity.
Yn's house is not far from work, enough to walk there and enjoy the last rays of sunlight, bathing in the golden light of the sunset. When she arrives, goes to enter the door and stomps her feet to shake off the dust, YN doesn't notice how Snowball is not there to greet her like he always does, the kitten is hiding on top of the closet and how her fur is already bristling as she makes eye contact with the strange dog on the other side of the door.
He is not allowed in, not yet.
And in her few months of life, the kitten knows that there is something wrong with that thing.
YN has been having some memory blackouts, like someone who goes to the fridge and forgets what they were going to do there. Like someone who automatically throws the spoon in the trash and the wrapper in the sink⦠and always with Kain. It has been happening quite frequently, and her oh-so-careful boyfriend points out that it could be the girl's tiredness, from sleepless nights because of the breakup, from daily stresses, but that everything is okay! Because he is here to take all her worries off her mind so she can tell him everything, after all, who knows her better than him?
That's why they are here and now, as a suggestion to relax and rest her mind. YN doesn't remember exactly how she chose her outfit, how she drove here, or how she is already on the third spin of the Ferris wheel, but she is with Kain and⦠that's what matters, right?
The amusement park was a mix of bright colors and festive smells, and there was Yn with her arm linked to Kain, the perfect boyfriend. After a very painful breakup, it seems that they are back together, and how happy they are! She is dressed in a white shirt and jeans and he coincidentally is dressed the same as her. Kain feeds her small pieces of cotton candy that he bought earlier since the beautiful little princess is holding one of the big bears that her boyfriend won for her in one of the festival games.
"Do you like cotton candy?" he asked in a sweet tone as he took a small piece of cotton candy and brought it to Yn's delicious mouth.
"I do, don't you?" she asked as the cotton candy melted in her mouth bringing a wave of sweetness and nostalgic sensation.
The creature who had never tasted such strange food, strange shape and strange sweetness before looked confused at the large cotton candy in his hand. By a carnal impulse, he had a brilliant idea to experience the sensation of the sweet taste.
In a quick moment Kain captured YN's sweet lips and voraciously invaded her mouth with his tongue, feeling the sweet taste of cotton candy and the euphoric sweetness that was his precious beloved. The man took a hand to hold and caress YN's delicate face, holding her so devotedly as if he had a precious work of art in his arms, which, in his blue eyes, it was.
All the sounds of the park seemed silent when he heard Kain's breathing, the smells could not compare to the perfume of his beloved, all that euphoria and adrenaline of roller coasters and bumper cars being replaced by an adrenaline that was even more addictive and irresistible.
"I like you." he said as he licked his lips, reluctantly pulling away.
"Iā¦arā¦" Yn's mouth was speechless with his cunning, but she didn't need words when Kain stole another intense kiss from her lips.
And anotherā¦.
And another oneā¦..
Because it seems like itās never enoughā¦.
After a while, they left the benches with their faces red and with a desire still inside them, pumping blood to each sensitive region, and so distracted by each otherās presence that they donāt notice when a young man accidentally hits Kain, knocking a can of alcohol on the floor.
āWatch where youāre going! You jerk!ā - the young man didnāt finish the sentence, his pale face contorting in pain and confusion, and sobriety entering his body quickly and instinctively - āW-wait⦠you-andā
āOh, sorry Peter. We didnāt see you there.ā YN apologizes for what happened, hugging her boyfriend affectionately and not noticing the looks being exchanged between the men.
Peter was one of Kain's troublemaking friends, stuck together like a disgusting tick and a sick hospitalityā¦..
Peter wasn't present on the night of the accident⦠but he was responsible for identifying the bodies of his friends for the police, and he even remembers Kain's body being covered by a black blanket at the scene of the accident.
Whoā¦. is thisā¦. man?
The boyfriend's pupils narrow, forming small bands in Kain's blue eyes, his jaw clenched, and the creature holds himself back from opening his mouth and growling loudly, showing his teeth to scare the intruder butā¦. that's not something humans do. Then Kain puts a protective arm around the girl's shoulders, pulling her closer to his large body and maybeā¦. Yn noticed and found it strange how cold his body is, despite so many layers of clothes and jacket he's wearing. How his body holds her in a strange, sticky way, but when Kain wraps his arms around her tighter, she blames it on the cold wind of a summer night and forgets about it.
āIt was an accident, itās okay.ā Almost robotically, Kain apologizes to the man who is on shaky legs, and with an intimidating hand he touches Peterās shoulder, a gesture that should have been friendly and comforting if it werenāt for the terrifying voice the man heard in his mind:
Go away and be quiet.
It wasn't a question. It wasn't a suggestion. It was a clear order. An unspoken threat. The voice penetrated every nerve in the man's body with such imposition and dominance that the poor man could only nod and leave with his mouth open and eyes wide open, staggering automatically with the little strength he had left in his nearly paralyzed legs. Peter, who was already shaking with fear, felt like he might vomit when he looked into the creature's eyes. He realized that Kain had never had blue eyes, that Kain's body had disappeared and never made it to the morgue, and that no matter how drunk he was, there wouldn't be enough hard drugs to raise a dead person.
YN, who seemed inert to what had just happened, turned her head in an incredibly cute way to Kain.
"I thought you were going to ask him out too, for a drink or something." The young woman moves away slightly to look into Kain's beautiful eyes, already accustomed and distressed with being left aside when Kain's friends were involved, the 'good night, see you later' was already on the tip of her tongue, the bitter taste of probably being replaced again made her feel her feet on the ground.
Why didn't he talk to him properly? Why aren't they going out together?
She found it strange that she had been put first.
The creature's eyes become friendly again, becoming soft with the image of YN in his field of vision. Kain immediately realized that she was going to move away, close herself off emotionally and say goodbye, something inconceivable, and he pulls her back against his body, wrapping her in a full hug now. The man hugs her cozyly, and lowers his head to whisper in her ear:
"There's no better place I'd rather be than by your side." and a slow and calm kiss is placed on YN's cheek, Kain made sure to place it as if it were a concept that would be absorbed by the skin, like a desire embalmed in the brain, like an idea slowly making sense.
"I'm the one asking you: Where does the my princess want to go now?" he smiles thinking about the possibilities of exploring the new human world he was getting to know and all the memories he was creating with the girl.
YN realized that those words were strange and different from the boyfriend she knew, but when she inhaled Kain's masculine scent, she decided that yes, she loved the new version of her boyfriend.
And as if by magic, she was already floating again sighing in love like a teenager, seeing the world, as well as her cotton candy, pink and sweet.
It was a sunny afternoon, with golden rays that painted the grass, the trees and the sky with a beautiful sunset and touched YN's skin so gently and softly, that it almost asked her to stop for just a minute to appreciate the beautiful view of the sky.
What was she doing? She was walking in a lovely ecological park, with plants everywhere and an energizing breeze filling her lungs with each step, and after a busy week of work, all she wanted was to have peace and mental harmony to recharge her batteries today. But she was not alone. No. It has been a long time since she knew what it was like to be alone, to walk alone, to eat alone. Not when Kain entered her life again.
The tall, muscular man walks beside YN in immeasurable peace, the creature's skin was radiant and with a healthy glow, despite being stolen skin - the vertebrae, cartilages and skin adapted to Kain's muscles as something coincidentally and undeniably - beautiful, pretty, pleasing to the eye and mainly, perfect in YN's eyes. At some point, the girl stopped and sat on a nearby wooden bench. Taking a deep breath, she inhales⦠breathes⦠inhale⦠breathes. Kain follows her immediately, like an invisible collar preventing him from staying away from his beloved.
"I know someone who would love this place" - she says after a pleasant pause, observing the landscape and the lack of animals, she can't think of anyone better to enjoy this place
"Who?" he asks, his attention completely focused on her.
āThere was a dog I always fed⦠a little black ball of fur with red eyesā the girl smiles at the memory while Kain takes a dry sip āBut he disappeared after a while, you know? Itās been like⦠3 weeks?ā she thinks about the time she never saw the big dog again.
3 weeks.
Exactly the same amount of time the creature took on her boyfriendās human form.
3 weeks of love and passion.
But he canāt help but wonderā¦..
āAnd you⦠do you miss him?ā even though he has trained his vocal cords in this new body to not sound scary and inhuman, Kain canāt hide the slight hesitant tremor in his voice, fearing that the girl had connected the facts⦠or that the lack of the dog is something sad for YN. Maybe thatās why he tried harder to contain the smug smile that threatened to appear.
āDid he have a name?ā Did you recognize him as yours? Was my other form already yours? excited, he already thought
āOh noā¦. I only remembered him now.ā
āOh⦠and why didnāt you adopt him?ā Why didnāt you let me be yours? Thatās what he wanted to ask
āSnowball was afraid of him, I donāt know whyā she took a deep breath and stared at the horizon with a distant and thoughtful look āBut curiously, she disappeared after a while too, can you believe it?ā
Oh yes he does.
Kain instantly swallows an imaginary ball of white fur. He remembers the night he tried to visit YN and when he tried to change shape to enter the house, the cat saw him transforming. This affected her so much that every time YN went to feed the dog at sunset, the nosy cat would try to get in front of her owner, meowing in a sly and affectionate way and other times in an aggressive way, throwing herself in front of her owner or knocking over the food, all to get YN's attention, all to prevent her owner from even opening the door and approaching the dog, all to keep the two away.
And the creature could not let that happen, no, not at all. So one night when Yn went out with her friends, the creature entered the house without permission, using the shadows to squeeze in and search with focused eyes where the cat was. Amid shrill meows, threatening growls and the sound of skin tearing, Kain ended the night with a full belly and the path clear for his beloved.
āItās a shame, my dear. She was a beautiful cat, wasnāt she? I remember the pictures you showed me.ā The cat with extremely silky fur was sticky in Kainās throat, annoying and messy if you asked his humble opinion.
āI loved her, but I ended up losing both of them in the end.ā YN crossed her arms and gave her boyfriend a small, sad smile
āMaybe, butā¦ā he approached her side on the bench, putting his arm around her shoulder and wrapping her in a side hug while the other hand held her hand āBut you got something better, didnāt you?ā
āOh, did I get it?ā she teases him playfully
Thereās no room for doubt in a relationship with Kain.
āYes, you didā¦ā he immediately squeezes her hand possessively, reinforcing that yes, she did win something better, and, intertwining their fingers and sharing the warmth, āSomething betterā¦ā he whispers, slowly bringing his head closer.
As she is enveloped by Kainās strange, pleasant scent and his loving gaze, YN allows herself to be vulnerable and let Kain take care of her, holding her cheek as delicately as fine china. She allows herself to accept starting over as she closes her eyes and finds the manās delicious lips.
āYou won something much better.ā He momentarily separates from her lips to answer her āAfter allā he kisses her again āThe dog or the cat could not take care of you as well as I do andā¦ā kisses and more kisses are placed on her neck and jaw
āI would not share your attention, I will not share what is mineā¦ā and then he kisses her lips again, this time, his confession brings to the kiss the taste of selfishness and possessiveness. If YN knew the story and the double meaning of his words, she would not find it cute or would be sighing with love.
But ooh⦠with Kain it is different.
Kain's kisses steal her breath and leave her with butterflies in her stomach, like seeds being planted in fertile soil, as her boyfriend tries to express his desires, wishes and feelings with each passionate and sensual touch, in a subliminal and almost naive way, trying to make YN absorb what he feels. Kain's kiss is the kind that leaves Yn's mind blank, with no thoughts about work, missing cats or dogs, and leaves her with only one single thought:
"Kain"
And for him, that is enough.
YN wakes up in bed⦠in the room she and Kain share.
She looks around, noticing that she is alone in the room and in her pajamas from the night before. She vividly remembers what happened before she passed out and the memory is frightening enough that she remains paralyzed in bed, not daring to remove the covers. Shivering. Sweating cold. And with irregular breathing.
Panic fills every vein and every thought, her mind seems like a whirlwind of unrelated thoughts. She feels like a prisoner of the bed, the sheets that were once so soft now seem suffocating. How will she get out? How will she get help?
Ok⦠let's go. Calm down and let's get out of this situation.
The first thing she notices around her is that she is alone in the room⦠so where is Kain?ā¦ā¦. outside the room at least, and that is what she will work with.
She hesitantly tries to move her body to make sure that all her limbs are there and haven't been eaten. She moves her fingertips, then her hands and arms. Afraid of being found out, she moves her big toe, and when she manages to control it due to fear and trembling, she moves her foot and lifts her legs slightly, then twists them. Holding her breath, she touches her face with trembling, cold hands, afraid of what might have happened⦠but everything is here. Not a single eyeball eaten. Not a single nose out of place. Not a single ear torn off.
I'm in one piece⦠Okay. I'm not hurtā¦
Okay... Kain is out of sightā¦
....Okay. What to do now?
However, the room seemed strangely empty, with no apparent way to escape. This only increased the feeling of panic and despair that was taking over her. Noticing the deafening silence around her and in the house, she decides to remove the covers and get out of bed. Quietly, she puts her right foot on the ground as she looks everywhere. Then, even more quietly, she puts her left foot on the floor, staring at the doors and windows with wide eyes. Taking a deep breath, she manages to get out of bed⦠but⦠she feels strangely weak, she blames it on fear and takes another step⦠and another⦠and another⦠to the door.
The sound of the girl's heartbeat seemed to pulse with the same intensity as the door that was slowly opening. She felt a knot in her stomach, as the shadows stretched across the floor towards her.
She tried to remain calm and control her fear, but every inch that the door opened seemed to reveal a little more of the terror that awaited her in the hallway. She mentally prepared herself to face the unknown, but her mind was filled with nightmares.
The girl was completely taken by surprise when she opened the door and realized that the hallways were lit with a cozy light. She could hear the low sound of the TV on and a faint smell of cake coming from the kitchen, she heard someone stirring the pan tooā¦.
Someone is hereā¦.could it be him?
She stopped for a moment, trying to understand what was happening. Everything seemed normal, but at the same time. She wondered if everything was really okay or if there could be something more sinister behind it.
No⦠I⦠know what I saw. Kain is not what he seems⦠he is⦠a monster!
The sound of the door being opened was too loud and a female voice, turning down the sound of the TV, asked:
āYN, are you awake yet?ā
It was the Boss.
YN stopped for a moment with her mouth openā¦.and decided to remain silent, paralyzed. Without the slightest movement.
However, the Boss's voice came closer to the stairs.
āYN, come down here. Everything is fine.ā
As if on adrenaline, the girl closed the door and walked back to the bed with quick, shaky steps and covered herself.
No⦠it's not her! It can't be her! This is his doing!
She held the covers up to her head and held herself back from crying. The fear was very real and overwhelming.
The minutes passed, it could have been seconds or much longer, but in YN's disturbed mind, it seemed like a painful eternity, she could hear nothing but the sound of her own heartbeat in her ear, and she refused to look at the door, not even out of the corner of her eye. Little by little, she fell asleep without wanting toā¦
She woke up not long after with a weight on her bed and a feminine hand caressing her, when she felt that she was no longer alone in the bed she woke up immediately and moved away from the presence.
"Calm down girl, it's me!" says the woman holding her by the shoulders in a solid comforting gesture.
The first thing YN notices is that the person's hands are still. That's a good sign.
"I found you passed out on the floor when I got here and brought you up here to rest." She strokes YN's hair and tucks it behind her ear in a graceful and delicate gesture.
The second thing YN notices is that the boss's clothes are very well pressed and dressed, her hair in an elegant low ponytail and her eyesā¦do they look normal?
āIāll let you rest here and when you feel better, weāll have a meeting downstairs, okay?ā She smiles with her lips outlined in red lipstick, a warm and human smile, and YN, despite being incredulous about the situation, nods slightly and feels her once agitated heart calm down for now. For a moment, she questioned her own sanity, wondered if what she was seeing was an illusion of her own tired head, if it was somewhere between reality and dreams.
The girl watches the Boss leave the room barefoot and with⦠human steps.
Not robotic and ragged like the last time, when Kain took over the Bossās body. But strangely human steps, light, delicate.
YN decides to rest for a while, closing her eyes and massaging her head while still lying under the soft sheets of the bed. Sometimes, anxiety is greater than fear. Like an annoying insect that appears from time to time to make an infernal noise, a little fly that with a well-aimed blow is dead. But in the dead of night it returns, maybe it was never dead and you missed the shot, or maybe it's its spirit returning as a ghost to curse you. You don't have an answer for that, but you know that at some point it will appear again and you will have to be prepared.
Some time later, with a clearer mind and a rested body, the girl gathers all her strength to go down the stairs and this time, she stops each of the air fresheners that Kain placed in the bathroom, the bedroom and the hallway. She didn't think much, and even though she wasn't sure, those air fresheners were part of a whole complex of illusions and control of the creature, she only knew that the smell, after everything was discovered, made her dizzy and strangely smiley, even giddy. She grabbed some toilet paper that was in the bathroom before leaving the room and used it just to cover the hole in the liquid air fresheners and put out the scented candles.
It wasn't an act from the best hunter in the world, but it was enough to make her feel more sensible and firm. Like a person stepping off a Ferris wheel touches the ground.
Each step was light and inaudible, each slow breath, each glance over her shoulder or at each step of the stairs was rethought at least three times before continuing and when she realized she was already halfway up the stairs, a slight victory allowed her to release the heavy breath she was holding in her chest when she could see that yes, the TV was still on the channel and there was no one on the couch.
However, when she reached the last stepā¦
"Good night, dear, I see you're better."
The male voice that YN didn't want to encounter made the girl's body freeze immediately.
He says right at the kitchen door, wiping his hands on a dish towel as he smiles at her, his blue eyes roaming from head to toe, āI made some coffee and a cake for your meeting with the Boss, okay? Come quickly or itāll get cold~ā
The two are 2.5m apart, and all YN can think about is running down the stairs. The man reenters the kitchen, placing the plates and cups on the table, expecting the girl to follow him normally, which, as things stand, is what happens.
YN immediately regrets it because the scene in front of her is⦠terrible.
Her bossās skin is stretched out on one of the chairs like a suit or a recently ironed garment is stretched out, her brown eyes are covered in dried blood in a cup, next to it is a huge furry skin, with black fur as dark as night and raised, paralyzed ears, this skin is like a huge carpet that covers the entire chair and next to it is⦠Mr. Thomas. The poor old man is gagged, blindfolded and hands tied. There is blood on his neck and YN is too scared to ask if he is dead or not.
āWhat⦠is this?ā what the hell is this? was what her mind screamed, but her voice came out as an almost pathetic whisper, with wide eyes and her hand in front of her mouth, the girl holds back the flow of vomit that threatens to come out of her mouth and she thinks that yes, maybe it would have been better to have stayed in bed.
The man with a calm and impassive expression, had his back turned until now, turning to face the table, while serving a suspicious red cake in the center of the table.
āRed Velvet?ā he raises his eyebrow and stares at the cake wondering if there was enough red or not for YN not to recognize that it would be a cake of the type āI followed the recipe on the internet, it should look like this.ā
āYou know thatās not what Iām fucking talking about.ā She raises her irritated voice, perhaps the adrenaline gave her courage āWhatā¦.ā observing each of the bodies on the table she takes a deep breath and asks again āWhat does this mean Kain?ā
āOhā¦. them.ā He cuts a piece of cake and places it on a delicate porcelain plate, which is immediately soaked in the disgusting red liquid from the cake, and hands it to Mr. Thomas, placing it right in front of him. āWe talked about not keeping secrets from each other, and how we canāt keep our skeletons in the closet. And youāre right, as always. We canāt.ā
Thereās a heavy atmosphere in the kitchen, the lights are dim and almost off and they flicker from time to time, the bodies on the table stink and sometimes YN could swear she saw the Chiefās fingernail moving or the carpetās ear shaking as if listening to them, Mr. Thomasā chest rising and falling slowly. Thereās a consequential and bubbling panic inside the girl, not knowing whatās real or a machiavellian work of Kain. She is still at the door in the kitchen, holding the doorknob on one side and the wall on the other, otherwise she would have fainted herself due to her legs turning to jelly, there are tears that blur her vision as the situation is addressed, it was not an insane nightmare, it was a terrible and overwhelming reality. One, that she does not know how to escape.
"I deduced that a warmer and more human approach would make you take the stairs." She spends 15 seconds staring at the Boss's skin and then he breaks the silence "And I was right, after all, I know everything about you." In another context, this sentence would draw a sigh of passionate love from YN, but now, it only draws a fearful sigh.
āPlease sit down, my princess.ā Noticing the silence and her staring at a specific body, Kain slowly approaches and asks her to sit on a chair, taking one from the table and offering it like a gentleman.
YN remains silent.
āDo you want your cake with coffee or with wine? I have some Cabernet Sauvignon here, youāll love it, itās a great combination.ā He says, pulling a crystal glass and a wine from the cupboard, thinking that the girl would sit on the chair, but she didnāt even move from her spot, paralyzed in the kitchen doorway.
āYou didnāt like the cake? Do you want me to make something else?ā It was almost infuriating to hear his calm and sweet voice, because he ignored the bodies already exposed on the table, he ignored everything that wasn't his beloved.
"YN, what do you want?" he asks sweetly, smiling, hoping she would tell him what her sweet mouth desires today, and so he would. But the answer he heard was sharp and very unwelcomeā¦
"No." She takes small steps towards him with a voice, although trembling, but determined "I⦠I want to get out of here, now."
"And where do you want to go, sweetie? Aren't you going to eat the cake?"
"That's enough, Kain!" she gets irritated and the agonizing cold that ran through her body is replaced by a fervor "Stop trying to pretend that everything is normal! There's nothing normal here!"
Kain's smile immediately drops, replaced by an indifferent expression. He crosses his arms and leans back in his chair, waiting for the questions he already knows YN will ask. After all, he knows her very well.
"W-what⦠what did you do to the Boss?" YN asks with tears in her eyes, remembering all the moments she spent with the Boss, the one who always welcomed her into the company and the city with open arms.
"She was a terrible and abusive boss. She didn't give you fair pay for overtime and charged you too much." He answers arrogantly, as if he had done her a favor by getting rid of her. His voice has become serious now that the mask has fallen. He sounds like anything but Kain.
"Liar! It's a lie and you know it." She stops looking at her boss's beautiful eyes, eyes that often understood her better than anyone else, eyes that aimed at YN's professional growth, eyes that brought back painful memories. "She was a fair boss, I never complained about her to you!"
"Fair? She was-ā
āAndā¦. What is that?ā She forced her mouth to ask about the black rug on the chair. It wasnāt safe to ask or confide anything to Kain, who was still on the other side of the table, but this was her chance to understand what was happening.
āI thought I would recognize your little friend.ā He snorted snobbishly, going behind the chair and picking up what YN thought was a strange sleeve, but the man reached inside and muscles came to life as well as the paw, which he adorably waved goodbye to her.
A chill ran down her spine as she connected the facts.
āYou wereā¦. The dog?ā
It wasnāt the just the fact that the strange dog had transformed into this creature that scared her, which in itself was already scary to think about, it was the fact that he had been behind her and had been stalking her for a long, long time, watching her very closely, and she had played with and fed the dangerous being right in front of herā¦
āThere comes a time when dogs want to be⦠more than just food-"
They are interrupted by a cough from Mr. Thomas.
Is he alive? They both thought at the same time.
She would ask about what he is, about what he means, about the furs, but in the moment she hears a sign of life, hope springs to her heart.
"And him!? What did you do to him?!" She approaches Mr. Thomas with urgent steps, hesitantly running her hand over his face and neck, checking the slow but steady beating of the old man's heart.
"Better: what am I going to do to him."
The creature approaches YN. Now, with him under the light, she can see that his body is different, proof of what happened yesterday: His body, which was already tall, is enormous, almost beating the kitchen lamp, his arms and legs are also larger and slender, his hair, which was once so well styled in a vintage hairstyle, is now longer, loose and disheveled with a dirty appearance, almost resembling the hard and dull fur of a wild animal. There is a paler and bluer tone to his skin, the youthful appearance has now been replaced by something morbid and sickly, something neither so alive nor so dead.
"Let's make a deal."
The worst part is his eyes, YN thinks, they watch her like a wolf salivating with desire for its prey, from head to toe with an intensity that makes her feel naked and defenseless. Kain's beautiful blue irises were like a precious jewel, warm, human and inviting. But now that YN looks directly into his eyes, she realizes that the blue that had always enchanted her was now an ugly and cold blue, with a supernatural glow in them, something disturbing to look at for too long, and so she does, changing her gaze to anything other than his eyes, depriving him of the attention he so desired.
Something that certainly irritates Kain.
"YN, let's make a deal." The voice is imperative and supernatural, he brings a hand to the girl's chin abruptly, bringing the girl's attention back to him.
The fingers are cold and blue like a corpse, the long and sharp nails poking YN's skin and lips and⦠Up close like this, with their bodies so close to each other, she smells the disgusting smell of rotting flesh.
"I know we're not in the best of times in our relationship, so I'm going to give you a choice-"
"I...i-i want to leave."
"Calm down, sweetie, let me start, okay?" He presses a disgusting kiss to the girl's lips to make her stay quiet, his tone passive aggressive before returning to a threatening voice "I know my secrets weren't the best idea to come out right now, so let's play a game, okay?"
Sadistic son of a bitch
"If you can run to the flower shop before I catch you, I'll let you and Mr. Thomas live. And if you don'tā¦" Kain whispers sensually in her ear while pressing his body against YN's "I'll eat the old man and you'll be back with me and under my control to do whatever I want." He smiles.
Sadistic. son. of. a. bitch.
Each word was spoken with intent and malice, purposefully to make YN's body go cold and an agonizing shiver run through his body, it hurt, the hairs on the back of his neck standing up and puncturing her skin like sharp needles. It was dangerous. A trap. And unlikely that she would succeed. But it was the only choice so far.
And just as Kain predicted, she accepted With an almost imperceptible nod of her head.
"Great, you have a 5 minute advantage." He said towering over her small form and kissing her on the lips
"Startingā¦. Now." He moves away from her and puts the marker on the kitchen clock.
Tik Tokā¦.. And the girl stands still, her body refusing to move.
But that wasn't hers.
"Honey, shall we play? It's already counting down the time." He smiles with his teeth, many sharp teeth.
Tik Tokā¦.
You took slow steps, your feet as heavy as a stone, your throat constipated with cotton and your vocal cords a knot. You inhaled and exhaled fear, each breath was a pain in some part of your body, as if it were tearing with each step away fromā¦. Kain. Suspiciously away from Kain.
I need to get⦠to the doorā¦.. Get away from himā¦..
When you reach the door and leave the house it's as if you can breathe freely again and with a big breath and a last look back, you ran away.
The night was strangely weird, empty, it seemed to be just you and a big full moon in the sky. It must have been dawn, when humans sleep and even nocturnal animals stayed in their dens. There wasn't a single figure or lost soul to haunt you and tell you that at least you weren't alone. The only sound in the disturbing silence was YN's quick steps and accelerated breathing as paranoia chased her, it seemed like Kain's eyes were on every corner and window, in every shadow loomed danger the closer she got to the flower shop.
I'm almost there⦠Just a little more! Hold on!
You realized when you felt the grass in the garden that you were barefoot and still in your pajamas, and as you turned a corner while looking back you stepped on a broken glass in the trash can, falling to the ground.
"Aaaah!" You screamed in despair and pain, the shard had pierced you deeply in the foot, and the shrapnel injured you in the other parts of your foot.
You analyzed the situation between your blurred vision and irregular breathing. Your foot was bleeding a lot, the shards were everywhere and right in the middle was the biggest and deepest shard, it hurt a lot, like hell, and you couldn't get up.
"Woooo!"
Not that there weren't enough reasons to lift your head and move on.
With wide eyes you identified that at the end of the block was the big black dog, Kain.
He found you.
Your five minutes of advantage were over.
In desperation you quickly got up and started holding on to the walls trying not to put your injured foot on the ground. Looking back with each step to make sure the thing was still far away, but he was fast.
In a last look you noticed that he was only less than 100 meters away, for a wolf dog to cross that in seconds is fast, for a maniac and supernatural wolf dog to catch you isā¦.
You refuse to finish the sentence.
But this gives you more desperation and motivation to get so close to the flower shop, already smelling the plants and the damp soil. You arrived and the pressure dropped when the door of the flower shop and when you went to open the door you saw that it was locked with padlocks.
No no no no!!!!
How would you complete the game if you couldn't get in?
The creature could smell your blood, it was very close and barked as it got closer, it had modified the dog's skin before leaving, making it lighter and faster. Tricks and lies to get what it wanted.
When you saw it approaching, you felt an adrenaline rush unlike any other and picked up a clay pot and threw it at the window, which broke the glass and the shards went everywhere and then you, YN, threw yourself through the window and inside.
"Aaaah!"
When you fell face down on the pieces of glass and some plants, many of them showed on the skin of your arm and belly, bleeding, hurting and burning, the broken and heavy porcelain and clay pots, the poisonous plants gave you hives. There were a lot of things. But one thing had become clear: you were inside the flower shop.
You won the game
Everything hurt when YN slowly turned around, her breathing steadying and a humorless laugh escaping her.
"Heh, I'm hereā¦.."
For a pathetic second, there was a relieving silence in the room, a second that allowed her to blink her eyes safely for the first time since she woke up.
"Woooooooo"
But only for a second.
The ferocious growl from the other side of the flower shop made her get up immediately, regretting it immediately afterward because of the pain. He was there, right in front of the broken window.
"Iā¦" You took a deep breath and spoke quickly in a determined and victorious tone "I won! I've made it to the flower shop! You can't catch me here."
The creature quiete down. But a horrible sound of skin and bones rearranging permeated the place, YN saw nothing, besides the huge, furry skin of the dog being thrown to the floor like someone would throw dirty clothes.
"That's right, you've made it to the flower shop." The male voice said in an indifferent tone.
Another eternally long and silent second.
Until a figure appeared, illuminated by the streetlight, it was difficult to see anything beyond the sinister silhouette. The creature crouched down and entered through the window, ignoring the shards of glass and clay, stepping on them as if it were an insect, another reminder that whatever YN was dealing with was much stronger than her.
Get some light and see.
Listening to the voice of intuition, she grabbed an LED light used to treat some plant, something she had never found useful until now, and raised it as high as she could and put the power to the maximum she could to see what Kain was now.
The sight was macabre.
If the day he transformed was something bad, now it was worse.
(?)
"I arrived at the flower shop." She stated as she reminded him of what was said before, moving away from him as she leaned against the shelf.
"You have arrived."
He remained still.
"But I never promised anything." He smiled coldly as he approached the trembling girl the supernatural voice echoing through the flower shop was not even human "You never made me promise anything."
He never promised that I would stay alive. He never promised that the arrival was at the flower shop. He never promised that Mr. Thomas would stay alive. We didn't shake hands and he signed the contract. Never. He just let the words fly in the air and I, the foolish YN, organized them in the blanks.
I was the one who assumed that we were in an agreement. He never promised anything, but he got what he wanted: a cruel game of cat and mouse. The creature wanted to have the chance to hunt YN for the first time, to smell the fear in every pore of her skin, to smell the fresh blood circulating in her body, and to let hope keep her alive⦠So that in the end he could rip her life out with his own claws.
Oh no. Oh shot.
Reality was turned upside down once again and YN escaped words without even realizing it, her thoughts too fast for her brain to process.
"N-no! No pleaseā¦.. I've made it to the flower shop. I've made it. I'll surviveā¦." She cried as she moved away from the hungry creature, stammering as the tears prevented her from seeing clearly.
All she saw was the creature approaching, while she slowly walked to the back door, without even realizing it.
"YN."
A single word made her stop all her movements.
That voice againā¦. I won't let it!ā¦.
"Kain."
Unknown to YN, at this very moment a nun was praying for her in an old church in the city, holding tightly the wooden crucifix in her hand. The sweet and fearful Sister Martha cries as she asks God and her saints to have mercy on her dear friend, to reach out to a poor human soul, to give her light at the end of the tunnel. And perhaps it was divine intervention when she hit her back against an unlocked door.
Mr. Thomas was the last thought in her desperate head, but YN mentally thanked him for having decided to remodel the back of the store, leaving the door open and an opening to a vacant lot.
"YN." A single word made her stop all movements, restraining her, almost like an 'I wouldn't do that if I were you'
"K-Kain."
Then, the little voice in her head, the call of survival, shouted loudly inside her:
Turn on the lever.
With her eyes glazed over at the creature that was getting closer and closer, she noticed out of the corner of her eye a lever that Mr. Thomas turned on every night before leaving the establishment, two feet away from the light lever. What was it for? To kill pests? To fertilize the soil? It didn't matter. At that moment it would have only one use: to be a distraction.
This is my chance.
You held your breath as a cold sweat ran down your forehead, your muscles tense and ready to run. In one quick movement you turned on the lever, activating several showers and irrigation channels so that a mist of pesticides and agrochemicals quickly permeated the place as you walked out the door and pulled hard as you ran to the vacant lot.
You were bleeding. And your face contorted in tears and pain with each step.
The glass shards in your foot and arm were a constant reminder of human weakness and frailty, but at this moment adrenaline spoke louder, the need to survive kept the tears stuck in your throat and fear prevented you from stopping. You ran as fast as you could, which unfortunately wasn't far.
The creature, known in this form as Kain, was already weakened and unstable due to the use of mirtyr tea a few hours earlier. With the distraction of the pesticides, it caused burning in his open wounds and semi-transformed skin, making him cover his eyes while grunting in pain, his claws scratching the skin wherever he went. But one thing made him go crazy: YN had managed to escape.
Kain roared in rage and like a maddened beast, he got on all fours and ran towards the door, breaking it in one blow as he passed through it, making an explosive noise in the quiet night. This made you even more scared, a scream stuck in your throat as the possibilities ran out. The beast scanned the vacant lot and when he found your blood trail he ran towards you.
In 10 seconds he was already halfway there.
It was scary when he ran on all fours after you, his face turning into something monstrous, he didn't call out your name, he growled and drooled with hatred.
Could this be the end for you, YN?
In 5 seconds he was smelling your scent and almost grabbing your pajamas.
No no!
In a quick moment Kain brutally grabs you and both bodies fall to the ground. There is a cloud of dust and screams in the air, you are desperate how much you fight with all your strength to get away from him.
Kain has an epiphany at that moment.
He never wants to be separated from YN again. He tried to reconcile and it didn't work, the possibility of losing her again is a risk that should never be taken. He wouldn't survive a day without YN's arms or scent. Kain can't live without you anymore.
And what better way to always be with a person than by ingesting them?
Oh, how romantic. What a great form of devotion and intimacy! Wanting to consume someone completely and become one. Isn't that what marriage is all about? One body and flesh?
As YN screamed for help and mercy, Kain held her wrists above her head and thought contentedly about how he would express his intense love by placing his hands beneath her skin, by dressing her skin with care and delicacy and by rearranging each of her organs inside her warm body in a different way.
Oh, the honor of having his beloved living in the deepest parts of your body, guarding and protecting you with his own ribs. Would you let him rip out your still beating heart and stick it inside his rotten one? Or rather, would you let him eat your heart? After all, you love him, don't you? Kain licks his lips thinking he can finally taste her thoughts if he rips out her brain. Using her teeth as appetizers and the veins slowly unraveling the red and blue ones, sucking with his mouth as if it were noodles while intertwining the cold hand of YN's corpse with his.
Your intestines must taste different from everything he's ever eaten. He would eat in the temple of her body, with her belly still open and the strong metallic smell, he would drink her blood until there was nothing left, sucking and tearing the skin from the bones until there was nothing left. After all, being loved is being consumed entirely.
"Kain! Let me go!" Her desperate voice finally reaches his disturbed ears. "S-stop it! PLEASE! " He feels so happy he wants to cry and smiles.
He simply smiles and holds her face with one hand while holding the other, forcing her to look into his blue eyes. It's a determined and sick look.
A terrible, terrible panic, paralyzes you when you hear his next words:
āI love you,ā he declares.
Kain approaches and kisses you with passion and hunger, biting your lips harder and harder until they start to bleed while you moan in pain. Two lovers indeterminately devouring each other.
After all, the kiss is the gentle beginning of cannibalism.
