CW: yandere, hero is extremely apathetic to others, kidnapping (twice), forced body modification, tracker, stalking, and manipulation.
In the private route, you managed to escape Helios. You decided it was best not to wait to set a trap for him, since your previous traps have been unsuccessful. He was just way too stupidly strong! Being a user, and a highly trained one, made it nearly impossible to restrain him. It was much easier to just escape from his penthouse. Not to mention he gets way too turned on when you restrain him for a second…
Helios locks up any knives or sharp objects that could be used as a weapon. It was actually not so that you could harm him, but so that you could not harm yourself. Though for a captive, you had quite a bit of freedom. You were allowed to move about the penthouse besides some locked closets, and you could use almost anything that wasn’t locked (with a few exceptions).
There’s a keypad for the main entrance door that Helios bought with a substantial sum of cash. He changes the code frequently, so every time you think you may know a number or two in the code, he changes it. Annoyingly, the door didn’t have a keyhole, so you could not lock pick it. It’s super fancy too and makes a whole thunk noise when anyone tries to use it. You honestly think he bought it to show off his wealth, but also to make it nearly impossible for you to leave without everyone within a mile radius hearing the keypad beep.
There are two ways you can escape: brute force or manipulation.
Through brute force, you kick down the door, ignoring the complexities that came from figuring out the infinite combinations for the six-digit code. You snatch Helios’ combat boots and do a couple of kicks near the doorknob. It’s safe since it was the middle of the day, and you knew Helios was not coming back until late into the night. You overheard him on the phone grumbling about having to go on patrol on the outskirts of the city (he was upset about not seeing you for a whole day).
Your next option was to manipulate his staff. Manipulating Helios himself was foolish; he had fought villains with brainwashing and time-control abilities. Your best bet was to distract the private chef, Pierre. You lie and tell him you saw a rat in the kitchen. For safety reasons, he is obligated to do an inspection of the entire kitchen. You point underneath the fridge with a shaky hand, whining that you saw it scurry under there. You make sure to keep the dramatics way over the top. The chef needed to believe that you were terrified of mice because now you can excuse yourself. On the coat hanger near the front door, Pierre’s black fur coat hung still. In its pocket was the new scribbled-on code. Helios changes the codes so often that he writes the new ones on a sticky note to give to his assistant and chef. He doesn’t text the codes because he sometimes lets you use his phone, and it would be a hassle on the off-chance you stumble upon them.
You’ve entered a small-town bagel shop; it smells like fresh bread and berries. It's been around since users weren’t as regulated with permits. It was a haven for those without powers. You go up to the counter and greet Bradley, the owner’s son. He stands at about 5'10" with chocolate brown eyes and sugar-brown, blond hair. He hasn’t been back in a while because of culinary school. Bradley tells you that he wanted to bring new ideas to this place one day. You then use Helios’ credit card to buy yourself a bagel and coffee. Originally, you were given his card for online shopping and food. Being unemployed, you didn’t exactly have the funds to splurge on yourself…
Helios comes back home; he sluggishly throws off his uniform shoes and runs his hands over his battered face. He calls out your name out of pure habit, not expecting to hear only the air conditioner’s hum back. At first, he just assumes you’re being stubborn and ignoring him, so he casually strolls around the penthouse looking for where you could be hiding. He tries bribing you to come out: he’ll take you outside for a walk, he’ll buy you a pet to play with, and when he gets really desperate, he even offers to let you fight him with one of his weapons. But no, all he hears back is dreaded silence. He’s frantically searching all around the penthouse: under the bed, in the closet, in all the cupboards. This is the most emotion he has shown in months: pure fear. The hero has faced villains who could create a black hole with their body, yet the thought of you truly being gone was much scarier. It takes around an hour for Helios to fully come back to himself from hyperventilating.
Being such a popular, rich hero, he could throw away his reputation and utilize his fanbase to track you in an hour and bring you back. The main issue is that this route would likely cause an uproar in the traditional media. They would ask who you were and why he needed to find you. He absolutely hates it, but he has to prolong your disappearance. Doing so would allow his reputation to remain intact, so he could keep you in the long run. Leaving knowledge to a limited number of people was the best way to go. Through text, he informs the wait staff (that he pays a shit ton of money) of your disappearance. By himself, unhindered, he could find you in a day. Because he is trying to be cautious and not alert the media, he takes about a week to find you.
He’s not sleeping the entire week. Helios has been on missions far longer, where he was forced to not sleep for three hours or fewer for a month. Originally, Helios felt lucky because a few months back he planted a tracker on you. It was in a necklace that he gifted you, but you discarded it right away because that shifty bitch was up to something.
All around the city, citizens were reporting seeing the hero flying between buildings and yelling. Some even reported hearing the hero yell a name with a shaky breath.
This man is going insane before day three. He’s seen five people that vaguely resembled you and almost grabbed them off the ground, but right before he does, he realizes that it's a stranger. A few people have seen the aftermath where he thrashes and tears at his own wings; he free-falls before catching himself mere inches from the ground, sobbing as he makes his ascent up again. He BEGS the gods that you are just trying to trap him and not actually running away from him!
Because of your escape, he has been fully putting off his job. There is a filed report of him requesting paid time off because of ‘personal issues’ sitting in a hero agency office. This is quite rare for him, as he never takes time off from work, let alone for personal reasons.
For the cameras and fans, he always has a bright smile on his face, but now he’s far more curt if someone tries to talk to him. Such as the time a young male fan tried to ask him for an autograph, and in response, he gave a dismissive smile that didn't reach his eyes and left them empty-handed.
When day five hits, he has officially lost any dignity he had left. He reached out to one of his rivals, a hero named Bloodhound. Many heroes are signed by agencies, and many of those heroes who work under the same agency compete for the top spot. Bloodhound worked for the same agency as him and frequently made snide comments about Helios’ integrity and true intentions in the field. Bloodhound was one of the few people who knew (besides you) that Helios hated the people he saved. The issue is his rival has enhanced capabilities in all five senses. And deep down, Helios knew if there was one person who could track you down, it was this man. To get him to help him, he threatened to tell Bloodhound's partner about the affair he was having…which was very effective. Helios gives him one of your shirts to track your scent. Unfortunately, you were now using a different shampoo, causing your scent to be altered from the shirt’s.
By day seven, he is about to send out a city-wide missing report for you when he gets a notification from his bank. A recent credit card payment was withdrawn from a downtown deli, about an hour from the penthouse. Already jamming the coordinates of the deli on his phone, he immediately rushes over to the deli. When he finds you, you’re sitting in a booth, wearing a mask and hoodie. Despite your disguise, he instantly spots you. Even in the deepest disguise, Helios knows his villain. Not caring who sees, he drags you outside the deli and then into his arms.
Unsure of all these explosive emotions, he yells at you about how dangerous it was for you to be out all alone as a non-user. He didn't say it out loud, but he was so, so scared. His arms crush you, and his fingers dig into your back, forgetting his true strength in the relief of your return.
By the time he’s got you back home, he’s mentally jotting down a list of new things he needs to make sure you stay. The first extreme was the tracker he installed in the back of your neck. He learned from his mistake of having one that was easily physically removed. The other extreme was him getting his name in all caps tattooed on the small of your back. The tattoo had a wingspan of five inches and hurt moderately while being inked. He alludes to choosing a tramp stamp for a couple of reasons he refused to elaborate on. You believe it’s because it’s his favorite place to rest his hand on you. The other reason, that you speculate, is because he and everyone can view the tattoo, but you can’t without some effort. Regarding rules inside the penthouse: you can’t move around freely and are subjected to staying in the bedroom and bathroom unless he is with you. Yeah, you are not going to feel grass on your feet anytime soon…

You are the infection
That spreads across my entire being
I lose all sense of autonomy
I see and feel only you
For you are perfection personified
I cannot help but want to keep you
I cannot help but want to be with you
You are the very life pulsing through me
It is yours to keep and take as you wish
You are the infection
Spreading throughout the being known as me
I hate how you've turned me into this. All I wanted was for us to be happy. Is it that difficult to love me?

You said I was "pretty crazy", but all I heard was you think I'm pretty ♡
i’m starting to realize that you’re the only person i need, songbird. you’re the only one who keeps me grounded- the only one who can understand me. why would i need anyone else when i have you?
