This is my first attempt to mend a piece of knitting that got ripped (swipe for "before" picture). I used a contrasting yarn on purpose, so that the patch would be visible - reminiscent of Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden joinery"), a japanese technique of repairing (ceramic) pieces in a way that the break and repair is not hidden, but treated as part of the history of the piece. . Finally found the time to attempt to darn the Christmas party dress I made last year and OH BOY darning is exactly as difficult and time consuming as I thought it was lol. This smallish hole took me about an hour to fix. Luckily the dress fabric pattern makes this fix pretty discreet.
